I stumbled upon this donut shop this morning after going to 3 other places that were sold out. I needed a few dozens for the office, and am SO glad I found this place. The owners are extremely kind and friendly. The main attraction, the donuts, were some of the best I have had. They were light, fluffy, and fresh. I got myself 2 donut holes to enjoy in the car and they literally melted in my mouth. They didn't leave an oily after taste or thick coating of oil in my mouth either, both things I am very particular about. I will be back again! read more

This little donut shop is a gem. They're friendly, have reasonable prices and a good selection to choose from, plus they are quick to pack it. I only wished they had a gallon of Coffee to go too. However they do sell it in individual cups. Please give Capital Donuts a try. read more

12/05/23 Well my son in law went last week because he heard I loves apple fritters and we heard they were very good here and he saw a sign on the door Under New Ownership Well he got the Bakers dozen (13) to where I went before and it was standard practice but the notation on the box stated Special Promotion December 2023. Anyways he got me a fritter although it was tasty it was rather small compared to fritters I've had from the south end of Fresno. It was a good fritter just not a great one. Most of the donuts appeared to be less sweet as what I've purchased before. That may be due to the new ownership cutting corners. Doesn't seem to be what past customers raved about. Always fresh donuts ready at this donut shop. Selection is usually limited, but I mean a donut is a donut and you shouldn't be picky when they are great donuts!!! The Parking lot is shared with 4 other businesses and lots of drifters roaming the parking lot, but they never seem to bother much. TL;DR good all around, I will be back. Stopped in for a Saturday morning treat. They are small but had it all. Coffee, milk, and juice to drink. I skipped that though and went straight for the case. The dough on my jelly filled was fluffy, not greasy. The icing was balanced and not overwhelmingly sweet. Raspberry jelly was tart and added the pop it is supposed to give. Don't be fooled by the humble exterior, Capitol Doughnuts is amazing! I'm not a huge fan of Krispy Kreme (yeah, I said it!) and wanted some variety in my doughnuts, so I decided to check out Capitol Doughnuts and I was super impressed! They have a *huge* selection of doughnuts and pastries - everything from cake donuts (my favorite), to crullers/fritters, croissants, and filled donuts. They also have two huge refrigerated cases of milk/juice/coffee. Personally, I'm a cake donuts gal ONLY, and I was super happy to see they had a variety to choose from. The chocolate cake donut was amazing and actually tasted like chocolate. My huge box of donuts cost me $13, so you can't beat the price. Bonus points that they take cards (including American Express). They have a $4 card purchase minimum. Parking out front was easy to get on a Friday morning! Holy S**T. Bought a random dozen because the line at Little Caesars was super long and I was not let down. Almost 12 hours later and my crueler?, crawler? swirly donut was airy and buttery. My husband may have been threatened with violence if he ate the one or two that was supposed to be his that I Indian gave him. The sugar donut was also very airy and fresh and deserved a special mention. I have finally found my donut home, move over Judy's, Capitol has you beat. I'm amazed that I bought them at 3pm with full cases and now at 12am after my second shift I was graced with such amazing flavors and what was still a fresh as hell donut I should tell you guys they suck so you stay away... but they don't so they deserve the hell out of this review. read more

So I go into Captal Donut at like 5am. There are 2 homeless guys sitting at one table and 4 Messican dudes at another. I assumed they owned the chevy truck in the parking lot that was packed the fack up with cardboard and metal. I go in and I get 2 glazed and 2 choco rainbow sprink. I ate the ever loving fack out of them. I drank berkeley farms choco milk out of grade school size milk cartons. Not a single fack was had by anyone in that shop. Review is based upon one thing. Well, maybe four things because that's how many donuts I left with. Freshness 5/5: Jelly filled is absolutely magnificent. Not stingy with the jelly at all, and the dough has that melt-in-your-mouth quality to it. The chocolate bar was also well executed.
