As a longtime subscriber of CCT online, I am disappointed in the loss in quality of local news after the paper was taken over by Gannett in 2020. The local coverage has dropped drastically, and the paper carries irrelevant articles about off-cape towns in addition to national filler news available everywhere. The comments section also disappeared, so no more insights from a local perspective. The Cape deserves better than this! read more

Hello I really can't believe this has been going on this long . I ordered a subscription at the end of June and have emailed , talked to customer service 11times and have chatted I think 4 so far to find out what is going on with getting my paper delivered. Everyone of you keep tell me that you are sorry and we will get a closure to this but again nothing ever happens and still have not received my paper . I know they deliver here because they go to my neighbors across the street and the same guy delivered it when my ex wife was getting it . I said I'm not sure if I can't get the special of 13 dollars a month because when she got it then it came to this address but said if that's the case then I will pay the regular price . Something has to be done because I want to read the paper the morning and not the E addition. Please do something soon or give me someone who I can talk to and not the 2233 number because that's who I have already talked to 10 times. I just copied this because I've said the same thing every time and this is unbelievable that nothing is being done. I don't know what to do because I've talked to everyone I can so far. On 6/3/22 I went online to order a subscription to the Cape Cod Times and was assigned an order #. Today, I called the 800 number and wanted to know when I could expect the deliveries to begin. I experienced people representing the CCT that did not have a grasp of the English language. First they told me that I ordered the Cape Codder and my email receipt clearly says Cape Cod Times. Then they told me that they do not deliver to my zip code. My neighbors receive the print addition. I asked to talk to a supervisor and they told me that they cannot transfer to a supervisor!!!! I called the local number 508-775-1200 and after multiple prompts, that always sent me back to the 800 people, I finally reached a human being in obits. I emailed the editor today. This organization is a bloody disgrace and could not care less about its subscribers: One, Anne Brennan particular is a piece of work! I contacted the paper to see if they could help with a customer that a saw periodically and noticed he was battling to get to the top of his drive to retrieve his newspaper. I chatted to him, he is 95 years old and in poor health. He uses a walker to get around and lives alone. the driveway is very steep and it is a real struggle for him. I contacted the Cape cod times to see if they could ask the delivery person to throw the paper down the driveway which would be some help at least. It is always left at the top of the driveway beside the road. Anne Brennan contacted me and seemed to car less about the whole situation and was a little on the rude side too boot. Nothing was done and she clearly does not care. When I am there I always take the paper down to his door but I am not around very often. Customer service is certainly not in her purview. Perhaps it would be if it were her grandfather. Does not deserve a star...bur perhaps someone with a bit more empathy might. read more

We have gotten the Cape Cod Times delivered since my parents washed ashore in the late 90s - for years the delivery, with one or two blips was fine. Then, starting a few years ago, something changed, and getting the freaking paper delivered has become a frequent nightmare. It might be fine for a few months, then bam - weirdness. The last bout was earlier this year and went on for months - we wouldn't get a paper for five days, then a huge wad of mixed papers would be shoved in the box. Or we would discover a pile of papers in the woods across the street, or a paper would show up after no delivery for a few days, at night, and it would be a week old. On an on. It took months of calls and complaints and leaving messages for supervisors to finally fix the situation. Now, it's starting again. No papers, except for one, and that one was two days old. I have begun the arduous task of connecting with a human who might be able to do something about it. The call center is now in Florida, so any hope of getting the service person to pull over a supervisor and putting them on the line is gone. I would have canceled this rag years ago, but getting a paper in the morning is one of the few joys my sick, frail mom has left. And since the closest place to pick up a paper is a 15 minute drive away (we live in Truro) so it isn't a real option. I wish the Cape Cod Times gave a #$&* about their customers, but they don't. I guess because the only people who still subscribe are old and will be dead soon anyway. read more

Boy, have they got a delivery problem. I subscribed as a returning subscriber. They started delivery while we were not here, traveling on the way to the Cape. There is no start date on the subscription form so they bill you and start delivery when you fill out the information on the computer. When we arrived, there were 3 or 4 papers waiting for us. But since then, the delivery person has not delivered twice in one week. Sometimes the paper is thrown in the wrong driveway. I went through the very lengthy process of calling circulation and after speaking with someone there, I was assured that the paper would definitely be delivered that day which was July 4th. It never came. And today, July 6th, it's 9:15 AM and still no paper. This is the worst paper delivery service I have ever encountered. Don't do it! read more

Since Gatehouse Media has acquired the Cape Cod Times, it has taken a very rapid plunge to failure. Delivery is half of what it was....never getting our paper before 7:30 (if we even get it). It is usually straddling the road and the driveway which puts us in dangerously close proximity of traffic. Print is light and blurry, many columns have been discontinued, the paper is more like a pamphlet now and the only reason we continue to pay for this is that we have no other paper which includes all Cape towns. We intend on canceling if something else becomes available....hopefully soon!! read more

Paper itself is OK for small town, but delivery can be problematic and, after long phone call this morning, my advice is BEWARE OF THE SMALL PRINT ABOUT "PREMIUMS." We paid $104 for 26-week subscription, BUT WITHOUT OUR PERMISSION, they sent us "premiums" (inserts, flyers, puzzle books) that shortened our subscription period BY HALF to 13 weeks. I was so confused: Why was I paying for advertisements and inserts that I was putting straight into recycling bin??? Why didn't they tell me this when I signed up??? Deceptive and corrupt. Do not sign up for the free trial!!! I signed up and then cancelled after a few months because it didn't use it. I called to cancel and the offshore service person said it was canceled but it didn't feel right. I also emailed... three times without a response. And am now being charged monthly. Good Luck if you have a billing issue because you will not be able to get it resolved by calling them, even if you do get someone to answer and they say they can help. Everything has to go to a different dept, so you are supposed to wait and call back. I had an issue with double billing on home delivery, I called, sent emails, and went to the CCT office on Main St, but it was closed. I had to finally file a dispute with my credit card company. Now having an issue with the E-edition, which I subscribed to, which I cannot access, again same run around trying to get it resolved. Horrible service. I can't stand them. read more

I was a new subscriber to the Cape Cod Times having just moved to the Cape and wanted to immerse myself in the news. Since my subscription a week ago, I have not received one home delivery issue. I am attempting to cancel my home delivery but, as with the unreliability of daily delivery, this publication makes it impossible to communicate with anyone. I have subscribed to their digital edition which is much more reliable. My suggestion is not to subscribe to this publication on a daily basis because it is an unreliable source for daily, with a cup of coffee, news and happenings. I must also comment that the publication focuses more on Mid Cape news and neglects the broader full Cape perspective. Live and learn read more

I tried twice to do business with Cape Cod Times. First time I got paper about half the time and would have to call to get credit - huge hassle. They assured me that it has gotten better. I subscribed and paid for 2 months without getting a single paper. When I called to complain I was talked over and cut off rudely. Don't subscribe. read more

I made a payment of $69.95 on 3/25/2019 for 26 weeks of a 7 day delivery of the PRINTED edition of the Cape Cod Times. To date my delivery HAS NOT started. Twice I have called and spoken with your reps. First I was told that they located the order an that it takes ten days to get started (even though the online receipt says it takes 5 days). Ten days passed. I called again. The second time I was told there is no record of my subscription. I subscribed online and provided my order number. No account had been set up. My bank account was been debited. I want what I paid for. They also say there is no way for them to look up an order by order number. I expect a resolution. I emailed them. I attaching both my online receipt and bank record of the debit. I am still waiting. This is one of the worst customer service experiences ever. If I could give a lower rating I would. This is a bunch of b.s. I paid my money, I want this fixed now. I am sick of the runaround and I am tired of being blown off. They suck. read more

I receive my paper between noon and 2pm. Never get to read it if it actually shows up. After flyer deductions only half my subscription is available for delivery. Same chain owns paper in Florida.Have cancelled them for same reasons. Too bad the younger generation will never know the merits of relaxing with the news before the start of their day. read more

Wrote to the circulation department of the Cape Cod Times (email) over a week ago, and even resent the message about missing papers, their promises to deliver a replacement paper later that day (never happens) and have yet to receive a response on my request for credit for missed deliveries Also requested my email be forwarded to Publisher Peter Meyer. No response and delivery issues, which they blame on Covid-19, continue with the 7:00a.m. old delivery time, now generally anywhere between 8:00a.m. (OK) and after 9:00a.m. Guess it is time to cancel my subscription which I have had for many, many years. read more

After prepaying for a 52 week subscription last January I was surprised to learn it had expired in August. I was told that "premium editions" that I never authorized had been billed to my subscription and it had therefore ended. Premium editions are coupons in the Sunday paper, puzzle magazines etc. I subscribed to just the newspaper and stated that I didn't want any "premium editions" when I subscribed. read more

I received my renewal offer for a 52 week subscription ...... $680!!!! Really!? After some haggling on the phone this was offered at $582; this is about the cost to get an introductory subscription to both the WSJ and the NYT! Not for me. Over the past 13 years the quality of the paper has been in decline, and more so since the two sales and moving the office out of Hyannis. Sadly, CCT are writing the epitaph for print journalism. Since the sales there are many mistakes in grammar, syntax, and spelling in almost every article; perhaps they are using 'roboeditors'? Comic strips have been replaced by junk and the editorial section is gone. Seems like I am done with the CCT.....unless I am offered a 52 week subscription for $300. read more

I have never had a paper delivered this summer before 9 or 9:30 AM. today I have been trying to put a seasonal hold on my account or stop delivery since 8 AM I have left my phone number four times and no one has called me back. I am only giving you a one star rating because there is nothing lower to give. Upon returning from our winter, I renewed our daily subscription to the CCT. Been here a month and i have received 3 papers... Called everyday to report our missing newspaper, and receive the same bologna about their delivery problems, which I guess I knew, because that was the reason for the call. Of course I have all ready paid like everyone else. Today they have a new trick... Just take the phone off the hook and let it ring busy, and you can say that there were no complaints reported. Worst case , you could hire a high schooler to stand outside a central strip mall, and give us our papers at the agreed to price. read more

I have been getting the times since 2008 and our delivery woman was very good. After she left it got so bad, but not as bad as the last six months. Paper late, paper not coming at all or coming late in the afternoon. paper is thrown anywhere they feel like throwing it. It has been under the bushes, on the sidewalk or even on my neighbors steps. Signed up for 14 week home delivery, and they don't tell you what you really get is 8 weeks. They kept deducting charges for "special editions" , whatever that is. Customer Service says they charge $2 to $5 for these mysterious editions. Extremely deceptive business practices. I ordered the Cape Cod Times in April, 2021, by calling the subscription phone number they had on line with their latest "deals." There was a very good deal for 7 day delivery for 13 weeks. ($33 plus change) The person I talked with at customer service confirmed the deal and set it up to begin May 15, 2021. He took my charge card info. On May 15th, no paper. I called the paper's number and after a very long wait was told there was no record I placed the order and should check with their accounting dept. Today someone called from accounting and said that they had received the payment but had credited it back to me. She then offered me a new "deal"..7 day delivery for 13 weeks at $54+. She said they weren't offering a $33+ deal. Suggested I pay the regular price and keep checking for a better one! What an awful way to do business and treat customers. Once the 13 week $33+ deal was over, I'd be paying full price for additional papers. They would have more than made up any loss they took by honoring the original deal they agreed to when they accepted my charge payment. Be aware of their "Bait and Switch" deal. read more

This is the worst paper I have dealt with. There are no phone numbers to call. All go to voice mail and no one calls you back. The editor wrote that they had a delivery problem in June and he would correct it. It has gotten worse and he got promoted. Home delivery is unreal. Papers arrive between 6AM and noon. On 7/21 no Sunday paper. On 7/22 I got Monday's and Sunday's paper. On 7/24 no paper. On Sunday 2/28 no paper, and on 8/8 no paper. No one ever calls back. Not that cape cod times will care but I spent 1 hour on phone to renew my paper today.Too no avail.I was told I couldn't get same yearly price,Quoted $100 more. only new customers get that price.So I called back as new customer and still couldn't get the lower rate.Tele markers that are hired by your paper can offer special prices but you the company cant??? I purchased subscriptions in the past and was never told about their so called "premium issues" affecting how long my paid subscription would last. When I didn't receive a full year subscription they said well you received "premium issues" I asked what those were, they said "flyers" attached with the paper. I asked why would my susbscription length be affected by a companies flyer being put in my paper? That company paid you to put those flyers in that paper. The answer was "because it does sir", that's not an answer. If you check the BBB website you will see many of these same subscription complaints. People subscribed for a year and only get 6 months, because of their so called "premium issue" policy. I asked if they could tell me how many premium issues are created each year and they said "we don't know sir". So you never know how long a one year subscription will actually last? Some are shortened by as much as six months.how they continue this fraudulent process without a class action suit being brought is beyond me. They have been doing this for decades. read more

I signed up for the regular 1 year subscription last January and paid for 1 full year at $ 260. Last month I got a renewal notice for October. I called and was given the same story from the billing that I am getting the "premium" daily and therefore my service has been reduced. I don't get the premium addition with crosswords puzzles, ads etc and DON'T WANT IT. I was told they would send my concern to billing and see if they can get my subscription corrected. Well yesterday I got another email saying my subscription is expiring November 12. I call today and was told they see the notes from last month and that they would send my concerns to billing again. Last month the only thing that happened was they extended my subscription for 1 month to November 12. What a poorly run operation. Terrible service by current delivery personnel!!!! We enjoy this local paper so much but have to discontinue our subscription. Today was last straw with paper in plastic bags that were not closed so paper was completely soaked through .... couldn't even dry it with hair dryer..... since the carrier was changed a few months back it has been a disaster!!! First the paper was not delivered day after day. For almost ten days. We were told it was equipment problems when we called to report it. Finally we called carrier number to be told the paper had changed carrier for our route and were given phone number for supervisor who said the problem would be resolved. Then the paper came but was left in the street for us to retrieve - not even thrown at the end of the driveway.... today was last straw ... the paper is represented by the carrier and by keeping this one in place it is clear there is no commitment to those of us still willing to buy the paper and pay for delivery ... what a shame! read more

Home delivery of the Cape Cod Times is unreliable at best. We used to have daily service by 6:00am and Sunday delivery by 7:00 am. Now we find Sunday delivery later and later and later... defeats the purpose of a Sunday newspaper if you can't enjoy it on a Sunday morning. Right? The delivery of my paper is extremely inconsistent. Over the years it has gotten worse, since they moved to Rhode Island. I have written letters, made phone calls and things would get better for about a week and then it's back to the same issues. I need to get my paper before 5:45 or it's useless to me as I leave for work at 6:45. All of Main St. and Craigville Beach Rd. in Centerville papers are there before 5 AM as I walk every morning with my dog at that time and see the papers there. I have asked for the same delivery person to please deliver mine, but to no avail. I am very close to ending my subscription. read more

I have ordered daily delivery of the Cape Cod Times for my 90 yo father living in an assisted living facility. I subscribed for 26 weeks at the beginning of December 2019. Starting in January, delivery of his paper has been sporadic at best, getting at most 2 papers per week. Since January, I have contacted the CCT at least 5 times to address this issue. Each time they assure me they will address and resolve the issue, and it still has not been resolved. They did give me an 8 day courtesy to accommodate missed papers, but only for the days I called, not all of the days he missed. The Assisted Living Facility, where he lives, tells me they have 9 daily subscribers to the CCT and regularly receive only 7 papers. I have been assured by the CCT that my father is on the daily delivery list, and his account is current. I have received a bill to renew his subscription and called to tell them I thought he was owed 2 months of papers, we paid for 26 weeks and he has gotten approximately 14 papers during that time, and I was reluctant to give them any more money. I did say that if they gave him 60 more days of papers, and he got them every day, I would renew his subscription. They told me that was not possible and that they had given me the appropriate information and there wasn't anyone else I could talk to. So in short, the Cape Cod Times is taking money from this elderly gentleman, and not delivering, literally. They also shave off days for "premium purchases"...like the stuff that is included in the Sunday paper they don't deliver. I don't want anything for free, I want what we paid for. The customer service is awful, you pay for papers you don't get and the salesman flat out lied about how much it would cost for home delivery. Read the paper online if you must. Steer clear of the sales pitches. I was told my subscription would cost one price and find out I am being charged twice that!!! read more
