It hurts me to leave a one star review to a local business, but they need to get rid of their one driver and find someone who can deal with people with a kind heart. If I could give ZERO STARS I would. Truly though, the fault is partially mine for using a car service that had only two stars to begin with. This is a common theme throughout the reviews that I didn't read prior. But you can be smarter than I was. Be warned. I ordered my car days in advance. I called an hour before and I was assured the car would be there on time. Of course it was late. It was 'around the corner.' Of course it was not around the corner because of course the car never showed up and the cab company never picked up or ever even called me. I almost missed my flight. This company is a disgrace. I just took a cab less than one mile from our home, with my wife, and it cost $14. The car and driver were fine but $14 DOLLARS to drive under a mile?! Holy Christ almighty. Awful Cab Company. Totally unreliable! We called early today to reserve a cab. They took reservation. We just spoke with Cape Cape and they said though they accepted the reservation nobody wanted to work tomorrow morning. They left us totally stranded and now we have no way to make our early morning bus. Last week we had a reservation with Cape Cab. They never showed up. We called four times. I actually waited a couple of days before I posted this and could easily have just let this go. But that really would not be fair to either other prospective passengers or Cape Cab. I called early Thursday morning to book a cab for 1:20 PM. I had a 2 o'clock flight scheduled and I knew from 35 years of experience that a 1:20 pick up was more than enough time to make the flight. Suffice it to say that the cab finally showed up at 1:49. I called repeatedly to get updates and was told that the driver was on the way and would be there in just a few minutes. It's impossible to know whether it was a dispatcher problem or otherwise but this was really unacceptable on several levels. First, they didn't show up a schedule. Secondly the communication was very poor and thirdly, we're it not for Cape Air actually holding the flight for me, I would have never made it. 5 stars for Cape Air, 2 star for Cape Cab. I commend Cape Cab for comping my fare and I did tip the driver five dollars even with steam coming out of both my ears. I will certainly avoid using this company ever again but I gave them 2 stars for attempting to mitigate the situation by comping my fare. read more

We arrived at our destination quickly and safely. We made an arrangement for the return trip, Jay confirmed and was there waiting for us when we were ready to be picked up. This morning at approximately 9:00, I witnessed (with my own eyes) the driver of CAPE CAB (car 103) texting with BOTH HANDS while driving up the hill on Bradford Street (going up towards the Crowne Pointe). I immediately called the cab company to discuss this and was asked by the person who answered the phone "do you want a ride or not?" I said no, that I wanted to discuss the fact that their driver was texting. The person on the other side of the phone line promptly hung up! read more

I called to get a cab to Providence Airport - I was quoted $81. He picked us up and took us to Provincetown Airport!! No, no, no! He said most people mean Provincetown, but I SAID Providence! He said, we don't go there, yet on his sheet, Providence was written as an option. He told us, we could take a small plane to Providence, but they don't fly to Providence. He told us we could get a one-way rental car from the Provincetown Airport, yet the rental car place closes on Labor Day. And after literally dumping us at the Provincetown Airport filling us full of lies about our options to get to Providence, he still had the audacity to charge us $81! (A 15 min ride and NOT where we wanted to go!) Please don't use Cape Cab! Call Pride Taxi - they are the best!!! read more

DO NOT TAKE THIS FROM THE FERRY. They charge $8/person, even for distances less than a mile away. We were not told this upon getting in the car - in fact, the driver ran the meter, and when we arrived it was at $6.90. We had 6 passengers and the driver told us the fare was actually $48. Additionally, he wouldn't take credit cards. He told us to walk to an ATM to get cash, or we could call the main line and provide the credit card number over the phone (I didn't feel comfortable doing this). He did have this fare published on a laminated sheet on the dashboard, but did not show us or inform us of the rate until we arrived. Completely rude and a total scam - too bad for our first impression of P-town. Sadly, this is why Uber and Lyft are putting cabs out of business. Note - the wait for Uber or Lyft could take awhile but we ended up using those services all weekend and it was great! read more

Quite a bad experience, partly related to my personal expectation and other factors, but mostly the service itself. ***This is NOT a private taxi service!! It is a shared ride service. I called for pickup at Ptown Inn going to the Ferry. I allowed 40-45 minutes knowing the distance and the trip time on foot I had made several times before. The dispatcher did not ask me any name and did not give me a price quote, but said the driver would arrive in 6-7 minutes. The hotel desk clerk said it's "about $7." Fair enough. The driver arrived almost 15 minutes late and had to load 3 other passengers who were waiting at the same location. There was confusion of who was going where. This took several minutes before we could leave. Not sure if this was the driver's or dispatcher's fault but bad service nonetheless. He said it's $9 to the pier, only after I asked. First stop was a pick up with no one there, since they probably took another service due to the delay? This added several minutes delay. Second stop was a house and he missed the address and had to turn around. A few minutes more of delay. The 2 other passengers who initially requested the pier drop off suddenly requested a drop off at the head of the pier (not that far but a significant enough distance to the boat) and to make it worse, had to pay by credit card, knowing that I had a ferry to catch. This would have taken several minutes to process. (thanks, you inconsiderate schmucks!)--I had to ask to drop me off first--the driver obliged. He was friendly through the whole thing and I had to give him credit for that. I had barely a few minutes to get on the ferry. So for all this drama and $10 (fare plus tip), one can rather use the public bus (shuttle) --i think it's $2 or just walk if you travel light. Otherwise prepare to pay a premium fee for sub-par service and you may even miss the boat. End of rant. Hope this helps! read more

Can't say that I understand the bad experiences of the others who used Cape Cab. During a one-week vacation in Provincetown, we used them four times. The first time, the flat rate of $7/person fare did seem outrageous, especially as someone from Boston for whom a ride of the typical distance to or from town might cost a total of about $6 (before tip). However, I am mindful that they make a LOT of their money during the summer season, and are probably making numerous short runs and trips of differing complexity. There is no meter (at least in Provincetown), because they charge a flat rate. When you call, if it's not a short & straightforward trip, be sure to tell them how many passengers you have and ask for a fare quote. If you don't understand something or want to be sure, you should probably repeat it back to them or ask them to clarify! It's also worth doing your research as part of trip-planning... At any rate, the dispatchers were polite and cheerful, the cabs always arrived in under 10 minutes, and the drivers were personable and friendly. Unlike in Boston, I never had a driver who was on the phone or otherwise distracted. They charge a little extra per person for delivering you to McMillan Wharf/Pier, which we had them do so we could catch the high-speed ferry back to Boston. I never had the experience of this being a shared ride service? Not sure what that was about. Overall, if you are just trying to get around the town and the beaches themselves, you do have numerous other options: pedi-cabs, shuttles, bike rentals, walking. It's definitely worth figuring out what the best value is for you. read more

Funk Limo - the best cab in the world!!! I stayed at a hostel in Truro and they recommended that we take Cape Cab to P-town. (FYI, Cape cab = Mercedes Cab = Funk Cab, they're all owned by Cape Cab). On our way from Truro to P-town, we took a regular cab but our driver actually told us to call and ask for the Funk Limo on our way back. As it turns out Funk cab has a limousine-turned-cab with Karaoke on board!! On our way back to Truro, we asked for the Funk Limo and luckily we got it!! So, for the same flat rate of $10/person (only if you have 3-4 passengers. It's $20 if there's only 1-2) we got an amazing ride back to Truro! Best cab ride I've ever experienced... :) read more

Tonight trying to get from the east end of Provincetown to the Red Inn for a wedding we decided to uber. After 15 minutes of waiting for them to locate a driver we started to get a little nervous. Tried calling one cab company and the recording said they don't operate after 2:30pm anyday(only in ptown, where the season is so short and no one seems to need to earn a living, been coming for over 35 years). We then say a Cape Cod cab coming along. We flagged it down and he pulled over even though he already had a fare up front. We explained our dilemma, he said hop in. His name was Richard, his cab was spotless, smelled very fresh, he was engaging and professional. Thank you Richard. Wish cabs and drivers were like this in Philly. This is the most absurdly overpriced cab service I have ever encountered, and seems to be a badly run business to boot. I called several months before my wedding in Eastham and was quoted the seemingly-reasonable price of $5 x person to transport 15 guests 1.1 miles down route 6 from the hotel to the reception. When I called back week-of to confirm, I was told that their fee is $15 per person, regardless of distance. $15 x person, for a 1 mile trip. You've got to be kidding me. Thanks to Cape Cab, we were left scrambling at the last moment trying to find transportation for our guests. read more

Absolutely terrible. It cost us $38 for a one way trip from Harwichport to West Dennis- a 5 mile trip. The reason for the high flat rate was because they "had to go out of the way" to pick us up, yet the cab showed up within five minutes of calling. On top of it all, the usual 13-14 min trip took 25+ because the GPS malfunctioned (Yes, malfunctioned. He has the correct address.) and the driver took us to the opposite end of town. Having arrived by ferry from Boston and mistakenly walked to the Provincetown Inn on the direction of one of our party, only to realise we were booked into the Surfside Hotel as far again from Provincetown in the other direction....we were all done with walking. A taxi was required and when my son said he had called Cape Cabs and they would be here in 5 minutes, I was very concerned. (I had previously read some terrible reviews, saying how unreliable, overpriced, and in some reviews, how abusive the drivers were.) My fears were slightly allayed when 5 minutes later our cab arrived and we got on board and bound for the Surfside Hotel. Remembering the reviews about the overpriced fare, I was pleasantly surprised when we got to our destination and our fare was half what I had expected, and very reasonable. Our female driver, whose name I am sorry I don't know, (she'll probably remember the fare, lol) was absolutely charming and very helpful. Would have no hesitation in using their services again. Only dropped a star because the vehicle whilst clean, had obviously seen a few summers. read more

Cape Cab, Mercedes Cab, and Wellfleet Taxi are all the same company: I experienced terrible customer service and high prices when I took a cab with them. Stranded in Wellfleet after missing the last Flex bus, I called the number listed for Wellfleet Taxi, only to be greeted by a rude dispatcher who put me on hold. I then tried the number for Mercedes Cab, got a fare estimate of $46 for a seven mile to Truro. I tried Wellfleet Taxi again and got the same estimate -- I had just assumed the separate companies were price fixing, until I tried the Cape Cab numbers a bit later, and got the same rude dispatcher, Eric, I had gotten the first time at Wellfleet Taxi, who was again rude and brusque. When I tried calling back Mercedes Cab, that same dispatcher from Cape Cab and Wellfleet Taxi, Eric, picked up, and yelled at me that the companies were all the same, he was sick of me my calls, etc. He seemed to feel that his company's monopoly on service in the Outer Cape entitled him to be rude, in addition to the expensive fees they charge. I didn't have any other options to get back to Truro, so I ended up paying the stiff fee plus a small tip: the driver who arrived after half and hour after my call was extraordinarily kind, intelligent, and professional, but that doesn't make up for Cape Cab's spiked fees and rude, angry dispatcher. I'm sure this is a fine service for travelling within P-town, particularly in groups, but I would strongly caution against relying on them for trips between towns. read more

Then told me he wasn't working in a night he harassed us in the street when the police, the harbor master and a witness clearly saw him. Arrived 5 miles down the road with a $30 cab fare - same as our way to restaurant but you would think we would split with others in cab (going another few miles down road but said no splitting) Questioned this and were cursed at and yelled at when we did. I live in Eastham and have not used Cape Cab. Last week, my husband and I were on the way to P'Town on Route 6, behind a Cape Cab vehicle. I don't know if there were passengers on board. While traveling 50 mph the cab stopped on the highway to let a car coming the other way turn left. My husband hit the brakes and after we stopped the car behind us came close to hitting us. After honking our horn, the drive waved as if it was funny. I took down the license number and called the number on the cab. The dispatcher answered and when I described what happened, she said, "What to you want me to do?" I said, "Tell the driver to stop doing this." She hung up on me. If you want to feel safe in a cab, don't use Cape Cab. read more

Went to a retirement party for my brother at the Sheraton in Eastham. I wanted to be able to have a few drinks and not be afraid of driving and getting an OUI, so I decided to take Cape Cab. What a mistake that was!!! I called a few days before to get the price for a ride from the Eastham Sheraton to my home in Chatham and was given a quote of $39.00 plus tip, which I thought was fair. I was told to call the day I wanted to be picked up to confirm the ride, when I did, I was told it was going to cost me $49.00 plus tip, after expressing my disappointment of the price change I hung up. When I called from the Sheraton to be picked up I was quoted another price of $54.00, when I expressed my disappointment it fell on deaf ears and I just paid the price since I needed to get home. I will NEVER use this company again, even if I have to crawl my way home. read more

So overpriced - I was quoted $250/each way from Logan Airport to Harwich - mid-Cape - never cost that much with my old service so I got in touch with Harwich Livery/Central Cape Taxi...turns out it's owned by the people I used to ride with. They charge $150/each way - and they are incredibly reliable, have great cars and are friendly and very helpful people. I was shocked at how expensive Cape Cab was - I'll never find out if the bad service reviews are true because I'll never ride with them...go with Harwich Livery and you won't be disappointed. read more
