Stopped at the dog park on our road trip - great place for the dogs to get out some pent up energy and stretch our legs. Lots of places to walk around! Only complaint is a lot of dog poop not picked up. read more

I came here to the dog park which is great as it has 2 sections: small and big dogs. It was not very clean tho a lot of owners don't seem to clean up. Large park which had a lot of people walking. read more

This park is beyond beautiful and perfect for children of all ages. They have sections for different age groups, and there is so much to do. There are about a dozen slides, bouncy animals, swings, beams, steering wheels, musical instruments, etc. This park is my sons absolute favorite place on earth. He can spend hours here.the floor is payed to keep it safe and the surrounding views are gorgeous. Oh and how can I forget, there is a pond and walking trails. read more

This area is gorgeous and the dog park is *fabulous*. There are actually two seperated dog parks and one has a small water feature. There are always random balls you can pick up and throw for your doggo if you forget, and overall it's much cleaner than other dog parks I've been to. If you don't want to hang with other muts there are huge open grassy fields and paved walkways. No matter what this is the best spot to bring your doggy in all of Junction! read more

Great park! Probably my favorite I've ever taken the kids to. Stopped by here to shake our legs and let the kids blow off some steam on our road trip to Colorado Springs from LA. There's tons of picnic tables, clean restrooms (as far as public restrooms goes), huge fields, a pond, a creek, and playground for everyone (even adults). There's a 2-5yo toddler area, 5-12yo play area equipped with swings, jungle gyms, obstacle courses, mini rock climbing walls and best of all.... a zip line! We are from out of town and I feel this is one of the best playgrounds I have ever been to. Not only is it well kept, clean and huge, the play area just makes sense. So many playgrounds have metal or plastic that isn't covered and it's so hot, but this place has a lot of covered areas and covered slides it affords anyone to continue to play for hours even in the hot heat. So many different varieties of play areas. Such a great place. Especially if you are from out of town and need to give the kids a safe fun place to get their wiggles out, this is PERFECT! read more

Where was this park when I was growing up?? It has something for everyone. There is a great playground full with imaginative equipment - including a zipline. There are fields for all kind of games: baseball, soccer, basketball, pickleball, handball... There is a 3 section dog park (one for little or old dogs, one for big or active dogs and one with a pond). This park is HEAVILY used, but there always seems to be available parking. And - you are never crowded out from using equipment, either. Nice restrooms. Great place for locals or travelers as well!! read more

Great city park. I have only lived in Grand Junction for 1 month and found Canyon View Park to be the largest and the best maintained public sports complex (that I've found). There are large fields for soccer, ultimate, football, etc. They also have plenty of baseball/softball diamonds. I hope to take advantage of the fenced in dog park as well soon. They have at least one pavilion that I know of with restrooms and charcoal grills. As of May 2011, I can be found playing volleyball every Thursday at 6:00pm at the sand courts. Our design firm has organized a weekly volleyball night through the entire summer. If you'd like to join us, just come show up and play. We need a few players. read more

Always a fun place to go down with your kids and mess around. It wasn't quite feeling like I wanted to sit and read a book. Though, it was a dull shiny day. But beautiful park. Plenty of things to play. I enjoyed the ride with my niece. read more

A very nice dog park. We were visiting from out of town and brought our pup. There is an area for small and senior dogs, an area for active dogs, and an area with the river. There were always dogs here at the times we visited which was nice. If we end up in Grand Junction would visit again. Also had a nice park for kiddos and lots of people running in the park read more

Stopped here for a break. I walked into bathroom and was impressed at how clean and nice bathroom was. They have big recycling bottles for you to recycle. The shaded areas have alot of benches and tables for seating. These require a permit with city if you are planning a party. There are more uncovered tables by pond but not sure if a permit is needed to reserve those or if its a first come basis. They also have big bbq grills not the usual tiny ones to grill on. There are football, soccer, baseball fields to play. The park play area is amazing !!! Hands down best park I have ever seen. So many play areas, slides, a zip line. kids will not get bored here. There is even an area for adults to exercise on, a stream, a pond. This is definitely a must stop specially if you have kids. My cell battery was super low so I was unable to take more pics. This is one of the neatest playgrounds I have ever seen! We were traveling and happened across it while driving to our hotel. We decided to stop and let the kids run off some energy before heading to the hotel. They played for nearly two hours and still didn't want to leave. In fact, when we left they asked if they could go back to this park everyday. It has a zip line, two large play structures with a lot of other playground items around them, and an adult exercise structure. It is one of those playgrounds that is so neat that parents want to play alongside their kids and many parents and grandparents were doing so. I have this location saved for potential future hotel stops because of this park. This community is lucky to have such a great park! read more

I'm not sure who to contact, but parents need to be aware! The water way between the big playground and the soccer fields has a little path between the waterway. In that path there appears to be a small amount of dirty water running across it. Today my 4 year old and I walked across the path and at about the middle of the path we took our shoes off thinking we were going to walk through a water puddle and continue to the other side. As we walked through the puddle we both sank. My daughter would have gone underwater if she was by herself. When I stood up after falling in the "puddle" the water was up to my chest and I'm 5'8". I cannot image what would have happened if my daughter was by herself. I had to work to get out of the water and there is no way my child could have gotten out by herself and would definitely have been underwater. My hope is a sign can be posted warning community members of the danger in walking on that path. read more

We love this park!!!!! It's a great place to get all the wiggles out, and there are always plenty of other kids to make friends with.

It would be five stars but they've really let the dog park go downhill. The tennis facility is excellent, and seems well maintained. This park is a real asset to the community. It would be nice if they kept the drinking fountains working properly, it is often over 100 out there after all. read more

Dog park is at the Northside of the park. Mostly dirt with a separate area for small dogs. A third area has a little creek or drainage area with water...not getting much use in November. One complaint is that there was a lot of abandoned dog poo. One suggestion would be to add a dog poo bag dispenser and trash can at the northwest and northeast corners...seemed to be where the poo was. Great spot to jump off highway and exercise the dogs. read more

I, and more importantly, my two coonhounds, were thrilled to find this dog park right off I-70 in Grand Junction. Ours was just a one-evening visit on a drive cross country, but I wish we had a park like this near us. The 3 completely and securely fenced in areas are huge in comparison to the parks we have at home in Las Vegas. There are a good number of big shade trees (again, in comparison to Las Vegas), with some picnic tables for the humans. Best of all, one of the areas has a very big swimming hole where the dogs can cool off while burning off even more energy. The other dogs and owners were friendly and welcoming. Someone had even left a large box of tennis balls by the entrance. The surrounding park (with ponds, soccer fields, walkways, baseball diamonds) is a nice area for an after-park on-leash walk during which the dogs can dry off. The dog park does have a water spigot and someone had graciously left a water bowl for general use. The only down side of this dog park seems to be the potential for lots of clay-type mud when it rains; the ground is typical desert vegetation, with lots of bare dirt/clay, not unnatural lush green grass. read more

By far the best park in town. Toys for most ages, tons to keep the kiddos occupied for hours. Clean and well maintained. Tons of kids here all the time. It can be tough to keep your eye on your kids as the toys are so big and complex. Sometimes the young teens can overrun the park but most of the time it's not an issue. read more

We stopped with two active dogs during an I overnight stay in Grand Junction. There were lots of dogs in the large dog area and everyone was playing well together. The park was supplied with clean up bags and there was a moderate amount of grass considering it was December and the park seems popular. Our dogs had a great time and got lots of exercise. Definitely recommend when you visit GJ. read more
