Great experience! My husband and I did the half day ride. Abby was our guide. Beautiful views and a great experience. Views were exhilarating! Definitely a must do if you're visiting Bryce Canyon

We did the trail ride at Bryce canyon which was beautiful and a fun experience, however it kind of put a damper on our trip when we first got there. When we were checking in, my boyfriend and I overheard the cowboys talking about how my boyfriend looked bigger and guessed his weight at 280... which is FAR from the 225 he actually weighs. The weight limit is 220 for the horses, but we figured those 5 lbs wouldn't really matter but it really hurt my already body sensitive boyfriend when he over heard them talking about his weight. If you're gonna do that, at least try to hide it... and also get a little more accurate at guessing weights instead of body shaming someone who is actually following the rules. Our guide was awesome and the whole experience was fun other than having to prevent our mules from trying to eat every 5 steps lol. I'd definitely recommend doing it to get the experience and see a canyon in a new fun way.

The whole family loved the 2 hour ride, a very special experience, amazing views and a surprising amount of ground covered, our guide Tia was friendly and helpful. And a review from my 9 year old daughter: So fun and amazing view! NOT RECOMMENDED FOR PEOPLE THAT DON'T LIKE TO FEEL LIKE THEY ARE GOING TO FALL OFF A CLIFF! My horse felt like that. It was still really fun though! I liked it because the horses kept doing their business right in front of us and there were nice sights to see down in the canyon.the guides were very nice.

I booked this activity although I haven't ridden a horse since YMCA sponsored Camp Erdman 50 years ago in Mokuleia. Thought this would be a great way to spend time with family and share a unique experience for the first time at Bryce. As novices we were all a little nervous, but the friendly and welcoming guide manager joked with everyone and personally paired up horses and mules with each participant. In turn we were led by humorous cowboy guide Wquincy who shared his experience, knowledge, history and names of the various natural attractions. He kept the horses and pace on track and insured everyone was safe and having a good time. At the halfway point, we stretched our legs and got some water, then made our way back around to the corral. We probably saw more than what you can see from the valley in 2-3 days on foot. Certainly, we enjoyed the ride while seeing others beat paths up the hills in 90F sun. Since we drove into the park before 8:00AM, we had a free pass to drive to scenic sites before leaving, bypassing shuttles. Reserve early, tip your guide and follow instructions.

A truly amazing way of experiencing Bryce National Parks amazing views. I was apprehensive at first since I am afraid of heights, but I actually overcame my fears and had a wonderful time. This was my first time riding a horse and I felt safe and enjoyed the experience. Our guide, Wyatt was amazing and was patient with me. If you want a different experience book with Canyon Trail Rides. You won't be disappointed.

I came across a posting about horse ride in Bryce Canyon and found the company online. I attempted to book online but the booking window (7 days) had closed. I was glad I called and was able to book the ride during my visit to the park. My family had a great time on the horse/mules during the trail ride. My 7 yr old son was first time on a horse and it turned out fine. Our guide Wyatt was great at keeping the group safe and introduced several interest points along the ride. I even learned something new about mules. I highly recommended the trail ride. We went on the horse trail, where it was not accessible on foot. We rode down the cliff to the canyon and got close to the hoodoos. The view was breathtaking. I would like to come back for the 3 hour ride when my son is older (10 is minimum age for the longer ride).

Add us to another 5 star review for this out fit. Obviously the scenery is SPECTACULAR so this review is strictly for the people and operation. Top notch. Instructions were clear, animals well assigned, ranch hands friendly and knowledgeable. Best ride I have been on and would go again in a heartbeat!

Great experience!!! I grew up riding so I am usually not that excite about paid trail rides. Not with Canyon Trail Rides. They are above all the rest! Horses are well cared for, well fed, groomed, freshly shoed and well trained. Howie our guide was knowledgeable and let us stop to take pics. It's a beautiful trail. We took the 3 hour ride and it was just amazing!! I rode Peso, he was well trained, neck reined and took leg cues, he turned on a dime around the sharp corners and switchbacks. I felt completely safe riding him. If I could I would of taken him home. My friend (not experienced ) was on Vance the mule and he was so wonderful! She really didn't need to do anything but hang on.

I personally just went on this trail with a group of people i didn't know because my mom dosent enjoy heights and let me tell you ... I HAD A BLAST!! idc what any other review has said whether bad or good but you truly won't regret going on this trail ride!! Jay was my guide and she was the sweetest friend ever!! The trail seems scary on some parts bc of cliffs and turning but the horses are so calm and know EXACTLY what they were doing. i had SUNSHINE who was my best friend through the trail and i had full faith in my girl to keep me safe and she did just that and more!!! she listened so well and was the sweetest thing. if you have been reading reviews and contemplating if this would be something for you as an individual or friends and family event DO IT. you will not be disappointed !! Here's some pics so you can see how good my time went!! ( also the individuals in my group are now my new best friends!! being alone starting off the trip to knowing all their names was incredible and just shows how sweet people are during this ride!

Canyon Trail Rides was one of the highlights of this trip, easily the best way to get to know Bryce Canyon if you're on a time crunch and can't hike or walk all of the trails. If you're scared of heights, this might not be for you as the horses and mules tend to get dangerously close the the edge of the cliffs. At times it feels like they're going to walk right off of them. We did the 1.5 hour trail and that was more than enough for us, even though you're not walking any of the trip, riding does take a toll on your body. Our guide was great and very informative, showing us popular view points and cracking old cowboy jokes throughout the ride. I will definitely be taking part of more trail rides during my future trips. Don't forget to bring cash to tip your guide and arrive early as they do start the tours on a timely manner, you do not want to be the reason why they'd run behind. Wear comfortable clothing that you do not mind getting dirty and don't bring a backpack or a purse since they don't allow you to carry them on and they don't provide lockers.

She had a great time! Happy birthday Crystal

This is my 4th time taking a friend on this ride. Today we had Cornell who claimed to have only been working 6weeks but he's great, like a pro, he knew all the scenery and all the landmarks (Jokes too). Doesn't hurt that he's cute. I was a trail guide for years and this guy was delightful. He checked in with everyone well, watched his group, and made accommodations for newer riders. The ride is beautuful, the horses are healthy and treated well. Those are my criteria to ride with a stable and i would definitely recommend this company to new and experienced riders. Great value and always a fun time. If I ever lose my job I'm coming to work here!

Half day trail ride along the Peek-a-Boo trail at Bryce Canyon National Park.

What a great way to experience Bryce Canyon! Hank was our amazing guide on the half-day ride along the Peek-a-Boo Loop Trail. We'd previously hiked The Queen's Garden/Navajo Loop/Wall St. trails and really enjoyed the contrast between the different types of explores. I rode Geraldine and my wife was on Yellow Jacket. Great horses, which seemed to be well-fed and cared for. They knew the trail as well as you can imagine and never wavered or wandered. Hank made sure everyone stayed together and offered up some clever cowboy humor all along the trail. Something we thought of later, as we're not frequent horse riders, would be to wear bike shorts under our pants on the ride. For several days, our posteriors reminded us of the great time we had on our ride!

I'm so glad we decided to go on this horseback ride through the canyon. We were able to see Amazing views. Horses and mules really behaved. Our guide was very patient and knowledgeable of the area. Definitely recommend.

Riding along the backside of the Zion mountains…read moreprovides incredible views, and that part of the experience was something I genuinely appreciated. That said, a few things took away from what could have been a great experience. The horse I was assigned, Dash, had a very nervous temperament throughout the ride. She would frequently get startled and suddenly run forward, which made the ride feel unpredictable and unsafe at times. At one point she jolted so abruptly that I was almost bucked off, which ended up causing a pinched nerve that I'm still dealing with. Because of Dash's temperament I also couldn't ride near my partner, so we spent most of the ride separated. As first-time visitors to the area, I was also hoping to hear some history or information about the landscape we were riding through. Instead, there was very little guidance or storytelling during the ride. If it weren't for the light conversation from Wendell, the wrangler riding toward the back with me, the ride would have been largely silent. Another issue came at the very end of the experience. During the ride, the front wrangler offered to extend our original one-hour ride. No one in our group had asked for an extension -- it was presented to us as an option while we were already out on the trail. After we had finished the ride, gotten off our saddles, and were preparing to leave, we were then informed that the extension came with an additional $140 charge on top of the $224 we had already paid to book the ride. That cost had never been disclosed when the extension was offered. Had we known there would be an additional charge, we absolutely would have declined. Learning about it only after the ride was finished made the situation feel misleading and left us feeling taken advantage of. I don't want to disregard the beauty of the scenery or the time spent on the trail, but between the unsafe temperament of Dash, the lack of information shared during the ride, and the undisclosed charge for an extension that had been offered without mentioning the cost, it significantly impacted the experience. For those reasons, I feel a three-star review is fair. Hopefully this helps future guests make a more informed decision when booking.
