This is a collective where individual artists with various special needs create, display, and sell their work. Big wooden loom in operation onsite. It all takes place in a big welcoming Victorian house in Brunswick, Maine. Spindleworks is a delight and always our first stop for gifts for ourselves and friends

The services and opportunities this non-profit agency provides for its artists is amazing. I have a…read morerelative with disabilities who loves this program. She carries frustrations with her that are connected to the challenges she faces every day, and going to Spindleworks relieves that frustration for her. She enjoys creating art or fine crafts, but more than that, she expresses herself through her art in ways she cannot verbally. When she first began, she only created one simple form of finished work, but they encouraged her over s long period of time to branch out, and now she creates art in many different ways: painting, weaving, ceramics and more. And on the more practical side, Spindleworks has a store that you have to visit. The products are unique and expressive, and a good percentage of the purchases goes to the artists, as it should be. A new twist is that after you are done shopping in the store itself, you can explore the entire artist facility, as they also have items for sale on display in all the art rooms.

I love this place! I…read morehad to leave a BAD review for a business, which I HATE to do more than words can express because my life's mission was marketing Maine businesses, so I'm on the hunt to bury that negative review under some super positive ones. The proprietor is amazing, positive, and she listens. A while ago, I visited looking for crochet items and was met with mostly knitting implements and supplies. I kind of forgot about it for a bit, but I went back within the last week or so and they had a ton of great crochet hooks and things that seemed to be meant just for me! The yarn is on the expensive side, but it's good stuff and nice to work with. I highly recommend!

Norway is the cutest town, and I am happy to have had ties to it for many years. My grandparents…read morehave lived in Norway for most of my life, and for the past six years, my mom has too. This shop is the perfect addition to Main St., selling both wine and knitting/sewing materials. Owner, Kim, is very sweet and creative. Main St. has beautiful knit pieces placed all around, adding a sweet feel to a historical little town. Cafe Nomad just down the street serves Fiber & Vine wines too. The store itself has a large, diverse selection of delicious wines and colorful yarns. There is also a large selection of buttons, and I find very unique ones that I use for my jewelry-making endeavors. During Norway's First Friday events, the shop often offers wine tastings, and they have a schedule of other events as well--such as "knit and sip" type stuff. Be sure to check their schedule or follow their social media for the most up-to-date info!
