I tried, I really tried to like my haircuts but they had no style to them and I got tired of coming home afterwards and cutting my hair because my hair was so uneven. I think going back 3 times is enough and no I'm not going to go back in and let the salon try to fix what they ruined in the first place. Plus, when you spend between $100-150(which is ridiculous)or more, each visit, get the haircut right the first time people. read more

I booked with Serra, showed her exactly what i wanted done to my hair. I was not impressed at all, My hair is nothing what i showed her, my hair lifted beautifully and would have been correct if she did not tone it the way she did. I paid 185.00 for my hair to look exactly what i walked in there before my "balayage". She did offer to "fix" and correct it, my child came down sick the night before my appt so i called her to r/s and she had an attitude with me. I will definitely not go back to her. read more

I am happy with Stylist Kareney. I'm sure I got that spelling wrong. Sorry, I know I even asked her to spell it for me. I love the design and aesthetics of their studio. And Kareney did an awesome and artistic rendering of my head of hair. She did indeed treat it as a Canvas and mixed all the perfect potions together to give my hair the exact hues I wanted and still desire. I will be going back in a couple weeks and be referring everyone I know to Canvas. read more

This is the place in town for CURLY or TEXTURED hair. Stop looking. You finally found it. Andi did an incredible job!!! She has a lot of experience coming out of San Diego. Honestly this is the first positive curl experience I've had since moving to MT. Andi asked lots of questions, started with a dry cut, wash, set, trim individual curls, gave me curl and product information. I had an awesome experience and would highly recommend Andi as a hairstylist!! Also she works late which was a huge plus to me with my schedule! read more

Brittany gave me the exact cut I asked for. She understands, listens, and clearly loves working with curls. I have already rebooked with her. read more

I chose Canvas after getting an unimpressive haircut with a well-known competitive salon that's considered one of Missoula's "best". I'd been wearing my hair in a ponytail for months and was quite excited about my appointment at Canvas, but was apprehensive that I'd be disappointed yet again. Andrea at Canvas was very friendly and listened to me describe my hair woes: it had grown out from a bleached-platinum pixie cut and had no shape or body. Andrea proceeded to trim my hair WITH my natural wavy texture, not against. She also did a beautiful ombré effect on my dark hair. Andrea was very informative and fun, and this was one of the best salon experiences I've ever had, better than ones in Seattle and Chicago and Manhattan. The salon itself is quirky, warm and inviting. Really, I have nothing negative to say. I look forward to trying some of their other services. And Andrea is henceforth my go-to stylist. read more

Had an appointment with Serra and she was lovely right from the get go. My hair is wavy/straight/curly/frizzy. Just depends on the day and the weather. I was getting it cut above my shoulders in anticipation of fire season and just needing it to be easily manageable while out on fire assignments with no showers. When you cut it short any mistakes seem to be more noticeable than with longer cuts but that's just my opinion. No worries with Serra! She took her time and made sure I was happy with my cut and length. I can't say enough about her. Will definitely be returning to her when I need another cut she was fantastic to work with and great with a shorter cut. Thank you Serra! read more

What a delightfully creative and welcoming bunch. Cairney had a quick solution for a hair coloring challenge I've been juggling for months and months. read more

My favorite hair spot scissors down! Kat is one of my hero's, KaryAnn is thee sweetest.. and an incredible colorist and stylist. I've had nothing but stellar service and experience here. For someone who has always had a fear of letting someone get a hold of her hair, I am in complete trust with Canvas. read more

I was so fortunate to get an appointment with Sara because someone had cancelled. She is a magnificent person and stylist. She worked with me to get exactly what I wanted. She was truly interested in doing a phenomenal job. I recommend her highly! read more

I chose this salon because of its high reviews. I think people should know that, of the two most highly rated stylists, one is not currently working and the other is not taking new customers. I made an appointment with one of the other stylists. I'm not going to mention her name as she is a nice person and I have no desire to damage her career. I was disappointed with my cut as it is uneven and I will now have to make another appointment elsewhere to get it fixed. Also, she did exactly what I asked her not do -- cut my bangs above my eyebrows. *** Edited and upped my rating to say that the owner contacted me to apologize for my experience and to make me aware that my payment had been refunded. I am impressed by the professionalism and the courtesy that was extended to me. read more

Andrea is wonderful, not only is she a great stylist and listens to what you want and makes it work, but she is a great conversationalist and makes you feel very comfortable and at ease while you are being styled. read more

I had my first waxing experience today at Canvas. To say the least, Denae was amazing. Attentive, cheerful and a true professional. The salon has a nice upscale feel, with a warm and inviting waiting area. Would definitely recommend to anyone new to Missoula looking for good, friendly service. read more

Katt and her entire team at Canvas Studios Missoula is absolutely fabulous! I've been a client of Katt's since 2010, before which I'd searched YEARS to find a good stylist without luck and with many bad cuts and disastrous color outcomes. Katt and her colleagues are warm, friendly and make you feel right at home. Her salon is beautiful, stylish, hip, clean and very comfortable. They carry multiple lines of high quality hair and skincare products as well. Since Katt is in such high demand (and rightfully so) I don't think she's currently taking new clients. HOWEVER, Kristina & Shawna are equally talented stylist. I've had a cut from Shawna and family members who see Kristina so I know firsthand that their skills are equally impressive! If you're in need of an esthetician for a facial or wax, Denae Hollis is AMAZING! I wouldn't even consider going elsewhere. She is fast, processional, experienced and a genuinely delightful person. I have very sensitive skin and Denae has helped me tame my rosacea by recommending Eminence skincare products which are also available at the salon. I cannot recommend Canvas highly enough for hair and skin pampering! read more

I had been coming to Canvas Studios, on and off, with very mixed results. I made an appointment with Rachelle and she seemed a little unsure about the color choice I wanted and my gut sent up a red flag when she asked what she should do. Believe me, if I knew, i wouldn't spend $200 on a professional, I'd do it! Needless to say, the color is totally gone, less than three weeks later, and the cut really stinks. I didn't spend money on my hair so that I could look dish watery and boring. read more

I scheduled an appointment online a month ahead of time with the blue haired one. 45 minutes after arriving, the blue haired one told me she didn't have time to style my hair because when I scheduled, a month ago, I gave the wrong description. Correct date and time, description wrong. She gave no recourse options or solutions. Just blamed me completely and sent me away. The atmosphere in general was uninviting and negative. Will NEVER go there again. read more

Canvas is awesome! I have been going to Canvas now for about a year and I just love it! Carly is absurdly talented. She has given me my favorite haircuts ever and she is a wizard with color. She needs very little direction and can discern exactly what it is you want with just a few vague suggestions. I have recommended her services to several friends and they look amazing and have been so happy with the results. She is also really good at cutting men's hair! Denae is the best and fastest waxer in Missoula! In addition to being a really nice person, her services are totally affordable. Go to Canvas! read more

The most amazing salon. Katt is a fantastic stylist who works magic on my curls! High end treatment and surroundings without the pretense. Fun, funky local artisan jewelry and wares always entice me. Love this place! read more

Katt is amazing at what she does! we are very lucky to have her in Missoula, as comparable cuts run $150 or more in larger cities! She brought life to my curls and my time at canvas studios was lovely and rejuvenating. read more

I happened across this place by chance, and it is easily the best salon I've been to! I went in to get almost all my hair cut off, from the middle of my back to a pixie cut. I got an appointment with KaryAnn Newby the same day, and she made everything so easy! She did an amazing job on my hair, showed me how to style it without needing to use any heat or any tools I'm not good at using, and told me I can call or walk in any time for tips on how to style it differently if I have any trouble. Overall she just did a wonderful job making me feel super comfortable and excited for such a huge change, and every one of the stylists was really happy and made me feel at home. They even sent in the ponytail to Locks of Love for me! I will definitely be coming back here in the future, and I would recommend this place to anyone! read more

OH my gosh, Kristina Divita at Canvas saved my hair-- and possibly my social life. I got my hair cut at a different company in town, (not going to name names), and it was HORRIBLE! I ate an entire pint of ice cream because I was so upset about it. I scheduled a hair appointment with Kristina the next day, and she fixed it! It looks awesome! It's really short because she had to work off of some other lady's mistakes, but regardless it's still one of the best hair cuts I've had in a reallllly long time. Kristina calls herself a master of short hair cuts, so if you're looking for one of those-- you should go see her. I can't recommend her enough. read more

Anna cut my hair for the first time today and did the most amazing job. I wish I could give her an extra star because she didn't laugh when I showed her a picture of Taylor Swift's bangs and told her I wanted mine to look the same. She totally pulled it off, too. read more

Carly Jenkins is, hands down, the BEST stylist in all of Missoula. I've lived in a handful of big cities, and no one anywhere has been able to cut/color my hair the way Carly does. I started driving over to Missoula from Helena just to have Carly cut my hair over 8 years ago, and when I moved out of Montana, I would wait until my trips back to visit to have my hair cut by her. She's a true artist with a skill level that is incredibly rare and valuable. She listens to her clients, gets to know who they are as people - their fashion sense, lifestyle, etc. - and taylors a cut and/or color is that is completely unique and original for that client. I can't say enough wonderful, amazing things about her! read more

I had an awesome first time experience getting my hair done by KaryAnn Newby this past summer, as I spontaneously decided to get a cut and color while I was in town visiting Missoula for the week. I'm a pretty low maintenance gal when it comes to my hair, and wasn't quite sure what I wanted beyond some Balayage coloring, and she had very thoughtful suggestions for flattering cuts that would work with my hair type, face shape, and my laid back approach to styling. She came across as very thoughtful and really seemed know her stuff. I made a bold choice to chop it off and go short, a major change for me, and I wouldn't have done it if it weren't for the immediate trust and comfort I felt with her. She did a FANTASTIC job, I am loving my hair, and to top it all off, she gave me a mimosa midway through my time there! I may just have to plan on coming back every year to have KaryAnn as my stylist again! Super happy customer over here! read more
