I was really excited to try this barber for my boyfriend, especially since we were visiting from out of town. Before coming in, I sent a quick message asking about availability and was told, "Your best bet is to walk in and see." About 20 minutes later, we walked in. Apparently, the person we were with had missed an appointment, and we were told to leave. We were confused and asked if they didn't accept walk-ins, and we were simply told, "No, please leave." We respected their request and left, but the situation was very disappointing. The person who had missed the appointment had nothing to do with us, and we still weren't given the opportunity to get a haircut or even wait. Unfortunately, as people visiting from out of town, this was not the experience we expected after specifically being told to walk in. read more

i'm just always in good hands there. it's like visiting home. I always leave feeling like I'm looking great. I go too "Smalls", She has done my hair anywhere from short, short to longer. She's excellent at layering my thick wavy hair into a beautiful A line with fast skilled precision. " short wavy Bob.", or one that I can blow dry straight super easily. She can take it to super short when I feel like it.. or longer taking off just enough in the right places. And I always leave feeling like I should be taking some pecan pie home with me even though I didn't eat. lol I like the vibe of the people even when they're doing their own thing. Prices are fair, he does an amazing job on both men and kids. The only thing we don't like is having to book online.

After hearing I am in remission from throat cancer I anted to treat myself to a really nice haircut and my first professional straight razor shave. I had heard from others that Compass would be a good fit. I was told they prefer online bookings and opted for first available. There was a section to leave a note so I filled it out a little to mention the care around my surgical scar. I discovered later that no one reads the special notes. Anyway I showed a few photos to the person who would cut my hair and they asked me what number blade they should use and how long I wanted my hair so I was polite and just pointed to the photo again and said "Just a little shorter than this." I didn't get a good look until I got home but one sideburn was cut longer than the other and squared off but tapered on the other side. Next came the person who shaved me. When I walked in this person was behind the counter and told me I was 30 minutes too early as if I should either go away or apologize. When it came to the shave I had to point out my scars and tender areas as again, no one reads the online booking notes. The first three towel were barely tepid. I got home to closely inspect and found a few spots this person missed. Cost was par but overall for this very special occasion I was very disappointed and will not go back. read more

My December buzzcut given by the owner would have rated 4 stars. My $30.00 15-minute buzzcut *(a $10.00 increase) from a hip young man singing to The Dixie Chicks deserves money back. When the self-congratulatorily hip banter among the booth renters digressed to use of the F word and jokes about "boudoir photoshoots with dogs", I grimmaced looking over at a 7 year old boy taking it all in. They must be paying their booth rent on time, but the owner needs to cut her losses and send this comedy troop packing. read more

This is the first negative review I have ever written (yes ever); however, my experience with Smalls was so disappointing both in terms of her lack of professionalism and the resultant hair cut I received that I felt compelled to write a review. Frankly, I'm astonished by all the positive reviews for Smalls, because my experience was anything but. First, when I sat down in her chair I showed her a picture of a previous cut I had gotten and told her that's what I wanted and she immediately dismissed me and rather rudely stated, "Yeah, I can't get any detail from that." and curtly asked what I wanted. I told her I wanted a number three on the sides all the way around with 5-6 inches left on the top, blended into the sides with the hair being slightly longer in the front of the top than the back. Throughout the cut she never asked if I wanted to see what she was doing in the mirror (chair faces away from the mirror) and proceeded to give me a taper, and a terrible one at that. My sideburns are neither the same length nor weight and there is a patch cut out of my right sideburn. There are also heavy spots on the sides of my hair even though I was clear that I wanted a number three all the way around on the sides. My hairline in the back was taken up around three inches and about two inches in on either side. Also, the angles on the sides of the taper do not match, neither does the blending. And I was clear I did not want a taper at all! Regarding her professionalism, or lack thereof, she took at least two phone calls during my haircut which would have been totally fine had she stopped cutting my hair to take the calls but she continued cutting my hair while on the phone. Also, her attempts to make conversation were painfully insincere, and she made zero effort to make me feel welcome there. Easily the worst haircut I have ever gotten and the most unpleasant experience I have ever had at a barbershop/salon. And to think after that experience I believed it would be rude of me not to leave a tip! read more

You know that feeling when you know they messing your hair up? Yeah, expect that. I got a low skilled barber. No, a drop fade is not the same as a taper. Charged $2 to rinse hair? You should at least shampoo and condition if you are going to charge for it. Bad experience smh. read more
