Fabric salon/mirror mirror extension lounge is the only place I will ever go! I started getting my nails done by Alex and absolutely fell in love, her creativity and talent is through the roof!! I have never had my nails left at all whatsoever and the only time I've ever had a nail break is when I got into a huge altercation and they perfectly broke right at the Apex, which saved my nails from literally getting ripped out and I couldn't be more grateful for her! Then got connected to Meg for eyelashes, I get the wet set done by her, and I've never had such little to no fallout anywhere! They always look so flattering to my face and she also gave me a kit for them to keep them clean and beautiful. Then I was looking for extensions and applied for the mirror mirror extensions so they can make sure I was a good candidate and that my hair would work well with the extensions. That's when I met Kitty! She was there every step of the way to make sure that my hair was perfectly curated to me! They made sure that the extensions perfectly matched my hair, which is actually insane because my hair has a lot of natural highlights to it and it literally just looks like my natural hair! When I went to get my extensions, they paid for my parking and bought me whatever I wanted for lunch which was so nice. They had three people working on my hair the whole time I was there and made me feel like a princess. I got to sit and eat my food and enjoy my complementary mimosa and just feel on top of the world! They don't stop until it's perfect, kitty will never let you leave her chair until your hair is absolutely beautiful and exactly how you want it to be. I am so surprised that extensions can feel so much like my own hair, look like my hair and just be so comfortable. I don't even know that they are there. I can style it myself, and I got a whole entire little backpack with a bunch of huge sized samples and a whole list on how to take care of my extensions. I also can call and message anytime and they are so happy to help with any questions I have and it just feels like I'm part of a family there. Kitty runs the most amazing salon I have ever been to and since I am an exotic dancer, her, and her team have helped me make so much more money. I feel like they give you the best deals and pricing for the most exclusive, one of one experience. I never leave there, not feeling absolutely glamorous and perfect and just beautiful! I purchased a gift certificate for a mani/ped $130! for my daughter (via one of her girlfriends) because I live in PDX. Was so happy to have this picked up and delivered at a gathering of her friends on her bday---July 7tb. Brook was only in town for 2more weeks after her bday because shes moving to WA for graduate School and ended leaving Missoula on the 29th. Couldn't get an appt for the mani/Pedi before she left. No refund even though they couldn't get her in before she moved. Said we could of course give the certificate to someone else to use---but that's not really the point. Love this salon! I haven't had much success at other salons in town. Part of that is my own fault because I don't get haircuts very often, so I require an intricate cut that's forgiving to grow out, hehe. But I've gone to two different stylists at this salon and have been impressed with their skill, intuition, and competitive pricing. I also like the modern, sleek look of the salon. Absolutely the worst salon experience I've ever had. Stylist Jenn J destroyed my hair. The goal was for a platinum blonde with shadow roots. The first set of shadow roots only stayed for a few days and her response was she figured they wouldn't? The second time she turned my platinum blonde hair hot pink after putting in a dark root! Her response what's that she didn't know why that would happen. She then proceeded to say she couldn't fix my hair because the product she needed was locked away and that she was too busy for the next couple days so I should wear a hat to my professional job? My hair then proceeded to turn blue, purple, red, orange and green. I finally decided that the best route would be after her lack of professionalism was to see another stylist to help restore my hair. I asked for a refund offering to pay for the products she used and she told me I should find another place to go. I have tried contacting the owner Lisa several times via phone and messaging. Not even a word from her! I am in shock that an "upscale" salon would have such horrid customer service! As a business owner myself, I know that reviews can sometimes be one sided so I tend to NEVER write a poor one, as sometimes it's just a bad day for whoever may be working. I booked a first time appointment with Andi for a balayage and cut. She took much time and care to go over what she was going to do and we hashed out what would look the best. I had not done any color for 8 months and had very grown out double processed hair with dark brown roots. Andi did a beautiful chocolate mauve gloss with some red accent pieces. My hair feels so much healthier from the gloss and I never thought I'd say it but I think I'm meant to be a red head now! The salon itself is bustling with friendly and accommodating staff. My first time here with Jessica a week ago and I still can't believe my haircut. I asked for my hair to be trimmed above the ear and blended to the top- taking about two inches off the top. Basically the way I had it, but shorter. Should be simple. Jessica shaved around the ear (fine) then was still shaving aggressively. I reminded her I did NOT want it all shaved. - She said of course. But, she continued to shave and was about an inch from the top of my head I had to tell her to stop. My left side was almost completely shaved. Turns out the back of my head was as well. I said- I only wanted it shaved above the ear! Jessica's response was oh, sorry, no charge. Then she said I'd just have to grow it out and get it re-cut. This was crazy, because I had half a hair cut. The right side was still long and nothing was blended. However, I was eager to leave, since I would not trust Jessica to cut anything more. I went out first thing the next morning to have it re-cut someplace else. Simply ridiculous to not listen to the customer and then stop cutting halfway through. Even if it was free, it was the worst cut I've ever gotten. read more

I am giving two stars over one because of the cleanliness of the salon. For full disclosure my appointment at Fabrik was back in the summer of 2014, yep, almost three years ago. I scheduled a color correction, which I have gone through before so I knew what to expect, and a cut/style. But my experience left such a bad taste in my mouth that I am taking the time to finish this review. Walking in the door it appears like a nice salon; clean, tidy and well decorated. I was not greeted warmly, however, in fact I did not even receive a fake smile just a couple of condescending glares from behind the counter. Granted I walked in with orange hair BUT they took no effort to give me a welcoming of any kind. Come to find out one of the women behind the counter is my scheduled stylist... I was not only talked down to by the lady at the front counter and my stylist while I was checking in for my scheduled appointment but I was also told by the stylist at the chair next to me that my choice of cut "was so out of date". Mind you this same stylist was shaving shapes into girls scalps with a pair of clippers...so needless to say I didn't take his advice. The bad vibes continued beyond informing me of my bad taste, they made me feel unwanted and like my money wasn't good enough. My stylist seemed annoyed she had to work on my hair, despite my scheduled appointment. While she informed me of her "extensive" list clientele list which once consisted of STYLING a celebrities hair while they vacationing in MT, one not worth mentioning mind you.. The services I did receive were extremely over priced, I literally have received better service and quality of hair care at Great Clips. I ended up going to yet another salon to fix the color "correction" and cut I received at Fabrik. read more

She also recently turned my hair to brunette. She goes out of her way to make sure I'm happy with the color. She is the best. Shelley, hands down, is my favorite colorist and stylist in Missoula. I was lucky enough to find her by accident last year when I was looking for a fresh, funky, but professional look for my 40th birthday. She took into consideration my lifestyle, my occupation, my personal style preferences, how my hair naturally lays, and my face structure before giving me the perfect cut. Don't even get me started on how she can work magic with color. I haven't made any direct confrontations, but I'm pretty sure that she is a wizard. I feel so lucky that a friend recommended Fabrik to me! I was in major need of a color correction. I had asked another stylist at a different salon for "bright blonde" (and please note, I was already blonde!) but ended up darker than previously. :( I was able to get in to see Kitty (Karen Bunker) right away - at 5:00 p.m.! - which is so nice that her hours are convenient to people who work full time M-F, like myself! In order to not further damage my hair, she saw me twice within a few weeks and each time I left feeling better about my hair! Kitty saved my hair! I also found her to be extremely competent, professional, honest, friendly and very attentive to me as her client. She is also kind and easy to talk to! I went into Fabrik Salon to get highlights and a trim. I was scheduled with Jessica Hietala for an appointment because she was the only one who had an opening that fit my schedule. When I went into the salon I was blonde with about 3 inches of my natural dark brown roots grown out. I showed her a picture of what my hair once was, which was a really pretty bright blonde. I told her this is what I want!! I want more blonde around my face because it brightens me up and when I wear my hair back I want the top of my head to also have blonde in it. I also said "I want to go more blonde than I am now but not quite as blonde as this picture (which was almost a platinum blonde)." I also said "I like the blonde that I currently have but I want to brighten it up a bit especially around my face." When I got done explaining and showing her a picture of what I was wanting I said "is this something you can do? Is it doable?!!" She replied yes, no problem. I also asked if she does many blondes and she said alllll the time everyone wants blonde. That was me reassuring we were on the same page and that she felt comfortable in getting my hair to the color I wished for. The second I knew something was up is when she got done washing and toning my hair I made a glance in the mirror and she quickly made the comment "don't worry it looks dark now because it's wet but it'll be light once it's dry" the whole time she dried my hair and curled it she did not spin me towards the mirror once and when she was done she made zero effort to show me what she did with my hair and didn't give me a mirror to take a look at the back.. When I got up to pay I took a quick glance in the mirror and knew immediately it was not what I wanted because She had dyed my hair tbh a weird color.. a mixture of dirty blonde almost brown with hints of grey and coppery colors at the roots.... My downfall is not telling people right then and there that I do not like it, I truly do not like hurting people's feelings, it makes me feel awkward. I told her I liked it as I was holding back my tears, paid her cash and a generous tip and left crying as soon as I reached my car. Less than an hour after I left, I called the salon several times because I was so unhappy with her work. The salon did not answer so the very next day I contacted Jessica first thing in the morning and told her very politely that I was truly unhappy and bummed out with what she did to my hair. She first, said she was booked out and couldn't get me in to see me... I than said fine, I would greatly appreciate my money back and I will go to someone, elsewhere. She than all of the sudden had an opening to get me in but at that point based on what I received the day before I didn't have the confidence in her to try and fix it so I asked for my money back. She became increasingly defensive, saying that there was a miscommunication and she gave me what I asked for and that she stands behind her work and will not refund my money. I am not sure where the miscommunication came into play because I came in as a blonde, wanted to go more blonde and left being a light brown with shades of grey from all of the toner she used to cover up what she messed up. She knew she messed up. I wish I was better at confrontation and was able to tell her that she absolutely did a horrible job right then and there to her face but I'm not, so that is my fault but as a decent person dealing with someone's HAIR you'd think she would have the decency to admit, it didn't turned out like we planned and been real with me and made it right. she made it 100% clear through her work and response to the situation that she is not there to do good hair, she has zero passion for it currently, doesn't give a shit about the customer that is giving her business and is just doing hair solely because she needs the money. I went to a different salon to get advice on what to do with my hair and they said that it's obvious she put a really dark toner on my hair to cover up the work she did... they said it will take a few days for the toner to come out but coppery-orangish colors are pulling through up at the roots And the rest where I was already a blonde is now a light brown grey-ish color. I wish I didn't feel the need to write this massive review because I thought Jessica was very nice when she was doing my hair, she was pleasant but unfortunately she is not a reasonable person or a good hair dresser. I hope this responses saves someone their time and money and does not have to go through the same situation I did with her! If she kept it real with me, owning up to her mistake, was reasonable in anyway or at least gave me an apology I would have simply left the situation and moved on and went to someone different knowing we all make honest mistakes but unfortunately that wasn't the case with her. read more
