This was the first time I've ever tried a service like this. I've always hated shopping because I never knew what to look for, what would fit me well, what colors go well with my complexion,etc. After a couple of tough years going through school, covid changes, homeschooling my little one, and working I decided I'd treat myself to a styling service. I can not say enough great things about Kimberly. Not only was the process painless and seamless, but I actually enjoyed shopping for once. She took my my preferences and budget into consideration. She pre-shopped for the clothes I would try on. We went over what we thought about the styles and how they looked on me. I never felt rushed or pressured. She also gave me tips on how to put together an outfit and little things that would add flair. She even took notes on my feedback and clothes to keep an eye in case there were discounts afterward. The clothes are well made and comfortable and I've gotta say that I've been so happy with my purchases that they're all I've been wearing. I had a wonderful experience with Kimberly, who was personable, professional, efficient, and communicative. As the mom of two young kids who works full-time and will need to head into the office more in the new year, I really needed to update my wardrobe. (Plus, I have terrible taste and had stupidly held onto old ratty clothes from my 20s.) This felt like a big splurge, but I'm not that into shopping, and I wanted to choose nice, quality pieces instead of spending money on things I would never wear again. Kimberly gave me exactly what I needed - recommendations about what colors and necklines/cuts would look more flattering on me, and she picked out a great selection of business casual and casual wear that was comfortable, was in the style I like, could be worn interchangeably to either dress up or dress down the outfit, and fit me (especially since it was unlikely I would ever shed kid weight). The whole process was painless and pretty fun. She first came to my home and asked me a few questions to understand how I would be wearing the clothes and what I liked. She then went through my closet and we got rid of old and/or unflattering clothes (which was basically at least 50%). That gave her a sense of what I needed for work and home. Then we had a 3-hr shopping trip the following week, where she had reserved a private room and already pre-picked clothes and shoes for me to try on. She was also able to introduce things that I'd normally overlook, and I'd be pleasantly surprised at how much I liked these new styles. She was thoughtful enough to think through logistics - like giving tips on how to make clothes last longer, what to wear for the shopping trip, where I should park in the city, etc. She also brought to my attention clothing items that were on the more expensive side so that I wouldn't be blindsided by the total. I paid for her consultation services and, of course, the clothes. It's not an inexpensive excursion, but you can tell her what your budget is in advance. I was ok with the amount because I had bought very few items during the pandemic, and I wasn't a big shopper anyway. I think I got a pretty big haul of clothes for the amount spent (as confirmed by my friends who are far more into shopping than me!). I sent a message and received a respond from Kimberly, booked a session with her in late December and went shopping with her mid-January. During our first meeting she evaluated my wardrobe and was honest about items I should keep and those that were not suitable for my body type. She gave me great tips on what to look for when I shop and how to care for my clothing. She really understood my style (or lack of) and was able to select fun pieces for me to try when we met for our shopping day. I'd had "wardrobe refresh" on my list for nearly two years by the time I met Kim, and I was SO ready for some stylist help! I'm a picky shopper because I know what I like and don't like, and I want quality at an affordable price -- so going into stores feels like searching for a needle in a haystack. Hiring a pro, who knows exactly which needle is in which haystack, was one of my best decisions of the year (or two, if you count the time I spent thinking about a refresh and not doing anything about it). I'd never used a style consultant before, and I put it on my Christmas list one year to see about giving it a whirl--while I like looking nice, I have vanishing patience for filtering through racks and racks of things to see if I can find something that will fit me, let alone suit me well. So when I got a consultation from Kimberly, and she drove all the way up to Sonoma County to help me weed through my closet (as well as get a feel for my existing styling and sizing), I was both surprised and thrilled. Kimberly was super-duper personable, and knew how to challenge my notions of personal fashion and push my comfort-zone boundaries, without pushing things that totally weren't me onto me. We then had a follow-up visit to the Powell Westfield where Kimberly produced (as though by magic) a fleet of pieces for me to try on--clearly she had done her prep work! While a few didn't quite work once they were on me, the majority were simply spot-on and really helped me see that there were things I'd never have thought to try that really could work on me. She even stayed a little later than originally booked to help make sure it was all seen through. I was ready for a change, but had some reservations about making my look too "professional." Would I lose some individuality and fun in the process? I just could never seem to find the right fit, or I'd constantly second guess my choices, end up buying something I'd never wear or could only wear with a certain outfit. It was exhausting and frustrating (and expensive). I figured if I was going to really take the leap and upgrade my personal style, I might as well do it right and get expert help. Megan came to my home for the initial consultation. We talked about my style goals and previous frustrations, and took a look at my existing wardrobe. She really took the time to get to know me and asked great questions which made me feel super comfortable. A couple weeks later we met at Nordstrom downtown where she had a dressing room reserved and decked out with clothes that she had preselected for me. I had no idea at first if something was a good fit, or my style, or even if I liked it or not. But Megan was super patient and, more importantly, honest. She told me immediately if something didn't work or if we needed to try a different size. Whenever she went to go get different styles or sizes, she'd always come back with a few more new things to try. It was such a different and pleasant experience to just hang out in the dressing room while someone brings you cool clothes to try on rather than having to go get them yourself. After awhile, I started to get a feel for the look I enjoyed seeing in the mirror. It was actually fun trying on new clothes! And it was amazing that everything Megan picked out for me went with everything else. I feel like I got way more because of all the different possible combinations of outfits I can put together now. We finished in the dressing room with quite an impressive take and got a few pairs of pants measured for tailoring. Megan made sure everything was done right and even got expedited shipping for me. Then we checked out some shoes options. Got a rockin pair of boots that we both loved immediately. I also tried on a few different casual shoes but none of them really spoke to me. Another great thing about Megan is that she isn't pushy - she made sure I didn't get anything I didn't totally love. After Nordstrom, we hit up Bloomingdales for a few more items. Again, she had a dressing room reserved and decked out. It was a quick stop, though - by that time we both knew what I liked / didn't like almost as soon as I put it on. There was just one shirt that she loved and I wasn't sure about. It was a little more adventurous than the rest of my new wardrobe. In the end, I decided not to get it, but I liked that Megan encouraged me to try it anyway. I'm sure I'll be getting some more adventurous items on our next shopping trip. I felt that my wardrobe was baggy and looking dated. I did not like spending a lot as I was afraid of buying something that did not fit me or looked bad. A lot of my clothes were from Costco as it was convenient and low cost, so low risk if it did not work out. Using Yelp I short listed 5 stylists and had calls with all of them I, to be honest they all sounded very competent on the phone and had ideas for men's clothing. I chose Megan as she had a web page discussing men's clothing, her price was within budget and she did not charge for travel to the Peninsular if I worked with her travel schedule. In advance of our first meeting she sent me a clothing questionnaire to fill to help her prepare. Next was a one hour wardrobe review at my home where she went through all my current clothes told me what to throw out, what worked and how to match the items I did have. She discussed my preferences and what my objectives were. My focus was more on smart casual dress than work clothes. For the shopping went to Nordstrom in Westfield Mall, SF. She went in advance and had staged a dressing room with preselected clothes for me to try. I quickly tried on several combinations and she gave feedback and listened to what I thought as well, but pushed me out of my comfort zone to try new things, I am so glad that she did. She knew the go to brands for my size and fit, that I would have never looked at myself, but were just the right choice. Also went to Gap and Uniqlo to select more items and even got items for the workplace which was not part of my initial focus. Megan also gave me some great tips on caring for the new clothes, and was prompt in replying to further questions over email. I am only wearing clothes Megan selected for me now and they feel just so good and have increased my confidence. I recently moved to the bay area from the mid-west and was in desperate need of a less corporate, more casual (yet trendy) look. I worked with Megan when I was in SF. My experience with her resulted in my seeing new items in my closet and connecting them with other items that I never would have thought of on my own. She's creative in how she puts pieces together, and always knows how to accessorize to make the look more "you". I recently moved to the Bay area to take up a new job. Having spent the last 5 years as a grad student, my clothes were all old, cheap or worn. My wardrobe badly needed updating, but I kept putting it off because (a) I absolutely hate shopping and I don't have much time to spend on it (b) being a skinny guy, it is hard to find good clothes that fit, and (3) I have a habit of buying clothes that I hate as soon I take them home. So I looked around on Yelp for a personal stylist/shopper and decided to go with Megan as she seemed to have the best reviews in my budget. She started off with a one hour consultation at my house in order to get to know my tastes, lifestyle and what I wanted to get out of this experience. She even asked me if I usually feel warm or cold in my clothes, so that she could pick the right fabrics. She also went through my current wardrobe and told me what fits and doesn't. After that, we set up a 3 hour shopping trip in downtown SF. She seemed very knowledgable about sales happening in different stores, so we decided to go with Nordstrom. On the big day, she had booked a dressing room and had already preselected a lot of clothes for me before I arrived. So I was able to try on many different styles quickly, and got some great feedback from her on what works and what doesn't. This was a very educational experience! She made me try colors and styles that I wouldn't have usually picked by myself, but ended up loving. She also introduced me to new brands that I had never heard of but seemed tailor made for me. After the session I walked out with a brand new wardrobe. And the whole thing was so efficient that we still had time left (which she said we could use in another session). She was also very nice to talk to and made the experience a lot of fun. Megan also gave me some great tips on caring for the new clothes, and was prompt in replying to further questions over email. It's been two weeks since the trip, and the new clothes look and feel awesome. Overall, I am so happy with how this worked out that I am planning to do another round for fall/ winter clothes. I found Canvas on yelp and reached out to them and a few other stylists to learn more about personal styling. I have never worked with a stylist before and wasn't sure if it was the right thing for me. I'm a young professional struggling with the balance of my too-casual college clothes and too-formal banking blouses and slacks. I've been dying for a wardrobe refresh but I absolutely DREAD shopping and generally leave a store feeling overwhelmed and frustrated. I didn't even know where to begin. All I knew is I needed help! I got matched with Devon and first had a phone call to discuss expectations, style, and sizing. We set a date to shop, and when I arrived she had already picked out about 60-70 different items in my size, and had already paired them together to make complete outfits! I tried on all sorts of different items and we discussed what I liked and what to look for. Devon made the experience completely relaxed and laid back, and did a great job of picking items that were a little bit out of my comfort zone but that I ended up really liking. She was also conscious about price and picked a store with a huge sale going on which was awesome!! Overall Devon was very sweet, patient, and super helpful.
