There's a mix of sewing and cross stitch materials and resources for handmade card and gift making. Supplies are available specifically for children. Workshops are frequently held at The Well Barn teaching craft skills such as jewellery making and decoupage. Klara's is also involved in community events such as the Summer Fete held in Little Crosby recently; while I was browsing, Klara was approached by a fundraiser requesting Klara's participation, by all accounts she is very active in community projects. I particularly like the fair trade gifts available at Klara's Crafts, they'e wonderfully made and quite inexpensive.

Klara has a BA in Fine Art so will certainly be able to help if you need some advice with materials for your own projects. My favourite product has to be Fimo which comes in 24 different colours. It is like plastercine but sets hard when baked in the oven. A cute little shop if you're feeling creative whether its doing some crafts with the kids or showing off your artistic side. There's also a nice collection of unique handbags to be tempted by and ladies you won't find these on the high street! Its always nice to know you have something that's not mass marketed.

Now, I'm a bit of a stationary fiend, and especially love any miniature hardware tools which fulfil a practical purpose upon one's bureau (see also: embossers, edge perforators, heavy duty staplers). So, it was with delight that I first inked and pressed my first bespoke rubber stamp. The image below was crisp perfection. I was hooked. I've been using Manchester Rubber Stamp Co ever since to create stamps for events, packaging and catering. Manchester Rubber Stamp Co can also produce signage for businesses and events, and offer services like engraving plaques, signs and small items. I'm yet to use them for anything other than rubber stamps, but recommend them purely for this. Service can be a little abrupt, and emails difficult to understand, for which I've knocked off a star.

Love this place…read more Stephanie's is great; my family and I have been coming here for years. It is one of the few decent card and occasions shops locally and it sells so much fantastic stuff; it's high quality and quite unique so, while you can pick up the very nice, but fast becoming, generic 'Me to You' items and merchandise from the 'Forever Friends' range fr example, you can discover a really original little gift, a genuinely different card or fancy gift wrap and bags to make an occassion and your wishes really meaningful.

You know what? I like Card Factory. I think that absolutely any card shop that isn't Clinton's is a…read moregood thing and something to be cherished. Literally. I dislike Clinton's so much. Everything in Card Factory is yellow at the moment. It's Easter. So there is yellow, baskets of eggs and stuff, bunnies, that kind of thing. But everything is ordered and tidy and not a massive mess like Clinton's. Card Factory is dead cheap too, so the quality isn't amazing but nothing can be as bad as Clinton's.

Ok best advice, be tongue in cheek and do it on a budget by bobbing down to Card Factory. Spice the whole thing up with a cuddly toy and a novelty balloon if you have too, but why oh why is there any need to spend £5 on a birthday card and that again on a gift bag when they have an expiration date of three days max and you can get them at a fraction of the cost at the CF. Special occasions, yeah granted, they're not brilliant on the quality, for that, but you can make exceptions elsewhere for that. Very funny occasion where i sent one young man batty over balloons....he actually lost the balloon in the back room...luckily he found it again, but he was gone for about ten minutes...not the sharpest...all turned out well in the end.

A very useful shop to know about!…read more Justicia is a fairtrade shop, meaning they only sell fairtrade produce -- stuff which guarantees a better deal for producers in less developed countries. They boast the widest selection of fairly traded goods in Bolton, which is quite an achievement as there are no small number of places in Bolton that have committed themselves to fairtrade principles. Although specialising in craft, they also sell other fairtrade goods such as some food and stationery. The prices they charge are quite reasonable (I understand they are a non-profit organisation) and the staff are amongst the friendliest I have ever come across. There are some Council car parks near by, but you will have to pay to park there. All in all, however, this shop is definitely worth a visit -- particularly in the run-up to Christmas if you're short of gift ideas.
