As he had dementia, it was harder for him, but the staff made him feel welcome. They are a MEMORY care facility, so they cater to the dementia patient's unique needs. The director, assistant director and everyone helping my dad were just phenomenal! The building is small (I got a tour before corona), so it felt more intimate, like he was with his family. I wish we could have experienced the facility without this mess, but I am thankful they took such good care of him!

No client goal or therapy schedule, expect to be seen 15-20 mins with limited physical activities. Then when you are ready to be discharged they " drag their feet" to get more days and money from you.. and lie about communicating with home treatment care providers. If you have dementia you are even less likely to get services because they don't think you can comprehend getting better!! Please spare yourself and or loved ones to receive services from Astoria, shop around.

The majority of the staff are rude, and the DON, Jillian, is a complete nightmare to deal with. She is rude to the patients and their family members. She doesn't even pretend to like her job. The call lights go unanswered for 45 minutes at a time. When this was brought up at a meeting, they said they'd look into it. Well, after that meeting, the staff would come in after 10 minutes but only to turn the call light off and say "I'll be back," and then not come back for another 20 minutes. The staff make rude comments to the patients and if you need a new medication or a medication adjusted, be prepared for it to take a week. Nothing is fast at this place. Don't believe the overall score of the reviews. Move on to the next facility. Your family member will not be treated well here.
