Took our senior cat in for a standard senior blood panel, ear cleaning, sanitary shave, and nail trim. We try not to bring her often because it stresses her out and she does not handle anesthesia well. Dr. Jassar suggested we use the gas instead as her anesthetic as he believed it might be easier on her. She has kidney disease and didn't handle the IV anesthetic well last time. And he even assured us he would use different ear solution for cleaning her ears since she had issues with that last time as well. Once all is done we bring her home and she seems as normal as she can be for a cat coming out of anesthesia. The next day or so she develops a severe head tilt on her right side as well as her eye going deeper into her socket causing her third eyelid to come out. She was also dizzy and wobbly beyond normal, this is similar but more extreme compared to what happened to her last time. We try to wait it out but eventually end up taking her back in as we are very concerned because she isn't eating or drinking. Dr. Jassar describes her as sensitive to anesthetic and ear cleaning. He then tells us she is probably inflamed from the ear cleaning since her right ear was pretty dirty. He also goes over blood work and how everything went for her. Her white blood cell count is high, he says it is probably from an infection but he isn't sure where it's coming from. He then checks her temp and notices she has a fever. So he gave her an injection of antibiotics, steroids, and b12. To help with appetite, swelling, and the infection. He then sends us home and assures us she should be better in a few days. Well a few days go by and there is no change in her at all. My mother-in-law ends up taking her back in because she is better at being assertive and wanted to see what he had to say as well. Dr. Jassar proceeded to tell her the same thing, checks her ears, and let us know he can't help us as we need to take her to UC Davis. He then gives us more steroids to take home to help with the swelling and appetite. My mother-in-law described Dr. Jassar as dismissive and rude of our concerns. It has now been about 3 weeks and our cat is still showing severe head tilt to the right, third eyelid out, and extreme wobbliness. So much so that when she went to rub her face on the wall (as she usually does) and she lost her balance causing her to knock her front canine out. At this point we were beyond frustrated and unsure was to do so we made her the vet appointment at UC Davis. Come to find at UC Davis when she had her ears cleaned with Dr. Jassar they ruptured her ear drum which the vet could tell right away by checking her ear. She then goes on to tell us that our cat has severe dental disease as well! All by just taking a look at her teeth. What is even more frustrating about all this is Dr. Jassar said he checked her teeth and that they looked fine. We are now happily working with UC Davis and finally getting our cat taken care of. I am beyond frustrated and angry with Dr. Jassar for either being negligent in our cat's care or straight up withholding information from us. I have held off writing this review to see if there was some kind of explanation for what was going on with her that would hopefully not be Dr. Jassar's fault but we now know what is really going on. Please do not bring your pets here, I will never be taking our animals back and spreading the word as well.

I have had two pets pass away with the help of Dr. A and Dr. D. They were so supportive when my cat and dog had to leave this world. They explained the process and let me take as much time I needed to say my goodbyes. The doctors are also available for questions and concerns over email or by phone. They even had one of the doctors fix his teeth. They took really good care of him during that procedure. About 2 years ago the team started becoming real sticklers about the heart worm medication I gave him every month. It was a nuisance but I figured it was a safety precaution as they explained to me. Then when my fiancé moved in with his 2 pit mixes it became pretty ridiculous. This vet office had policies that are incredibly strict around prescribing heart worm medication. And with 2 medium sized dogs and a little, the price of these meds is WILD. I know this inflexibility around policy is not typical since I've asked folks about their vet experiences and found that some vets will have you sign paperwork that says you understand the risk of not getting them tested every year in order to ensure the dog can stay on the flea tick heart worm meds. This strictness was also very different than my experience at Redwood Vet Hospital in Vallejo. I give my dogs their heart worm medicine every single month without exception. I never miss a dose. This vet office isn't really willing to work with dog owners and seems more loyal to their policies & money than trying to mitigate health risks & disease in dogs. They don't believe their customers who tell them that we don't miss a dose. They don't care if you understand the risks they're describing for a possible missed dose. They will proceed to talk to you like your dumb. I've experienced both Dr. Kafka & Dr. Brandwajn talking down to either me or my partner (over the phone) about how we care for our dogs. I used to work at a dog daycare and I understand that many, many owners don't really know how to properly care for their dogs. I feel for vets and what they have to see and deal with. But the way business is conducted in this office is not the way to make it better. I haven't seen Heather in the office for a while, I'm not sure if she still works there but she was one of the office staff who didn't treat me like I didn't know what I was doing and even leveled with me and said that if money was an issue I can get my 3 dogs vaccinated at the monthly SPCA clinic. She seemed to understand that the safety of the dog should be the priority, but when we took our dogs back for their next checkup at A4P after taking them to the vaccine clinic we were treated as if we were lying about them having been vaccinated. The amount of hoops we have to jump through just to get our dogs access to flea tick & heart worm meds feels like a scam. We've brought our dogs in just for a simple heart worm test or cytopoint shot and been quoted $1000+ for a wild amount of additional tests they wanted to tack on. I do not feel like this vet is trustworthy or has my dogs best interests in mind. Our experience at the last two visits has finally convinced us to change vets.
