We had olives and bread to start for appetizers. For the main courses, I can't say what they were in Portuguese, but one was the pork and the other was the Bacalhau à Brás. Both were truly amazing. We finished with an egg-custard type dessert, again, not sure on the name. If you stumble across this little gem, ask the owner to just take care of you and you will not be disappointed. A very full and complete meal for two, and it certainly didn't break the bank.

We were there for lunch. 8.5 Euros per person got us a vast amount of food to choose from. Just the cheese plater and the cold cut spread have been enough to convince me, but alas there is more. No, i dont mean mozarella cheese and cheddar. I'm talking about artisan local cheeses and hard to find sliced meats. Also a variety of Portuguese dishes along with casual choices to please everyone. I ordered a pitcher of sangria thinking I would pay $20 as i do in the US. But no, also included in the price. Then my parents had two beers, also included in the price. Then we had expressos, you know it, also included in the price. We left with total bill of 51 Euros, for 6 people. Cant beat that.

We found this in a couple of tour books and were able to secure a reservation through some broken Spanish since our Portuguese was so poor as was their English. It is a very cute space and felt very typical for Evora. The waiter was trying his best to serve everyone as he passed around the only English menu to all of the tables (it appeared that was the common language of most patrons). Their specialty is soup so we tried the tomato soup which was very good. The garlic soup with the cod was not so good - actually a bit bland. I tried the black pork and it was almost inedible it was so tough and dry - it looked much more moist in the pictures. So a bit of a mixed bag.
