When our son was to start JK this past year we looked at a number of public and private schools to find something that mirrored our experience. We were very lucky to have stumbled upon Olivet. The sense of community, strong emphasis on being a good kind person, small class size and importance placed on outdoor learning had our attention. We went for a tour and were welcomed with open arms. In a city like Toronto and the large class sizes in our public schools with so much attention in "checking" boxes and treating all children the same we were very happy and impressed with the culture and principles practised at Olivet. I strongly encourage any family contemplating an alternative to public school to invest the time to tour Olivet. We are very happy with our decision and our daughter will be attending once it is her turn.

When I moved to Brantford, before having children, I was hired part time to work at BCS. It was at this time that I gained a huge respect and admiration for this school. The staff are amazing- intentional, caring, and see each child as a unique individual with immense potential both academically and socially. They work hard to meet Ontario curriculum standards while presenting it through the lens of God's truth and creativity! There are tons of opportunities for students through a variety of extra curricular activities - sports, fine arts, book clubs and chess clubs and more! Even just the playground space for recess is amazing!! Students with academic and social struggles are well supported and the admin and teachers work alongside parents to make sure the experience is positive. While I am no longer a staff member there, I know that there is no better school that I would choose for my three kids to attend. They all love going there! I had the opportunity yesterday to visit Jean Augustine Secondary School, a site that just opened…read morenear the border of Brampton and Georgetown. Attending with two friends of mine, I had the chance to see a school that is very much in its formative stages. Even though the school is still being populated with students, there is a lot of potential here for this site, and it's badly needed for education in general. Everywhere I look here in South Mississauga, schools are either being marginalized or closing outright. Gordon Graydon Secondary School is all but gone. Mineola's close to the chopping block. There are fewer and fewer options for middle/high school students. That's why it was a pleasant surprise to see that there are new school openings like this, which are serving under-represented communities. As someone who also covered the Jean Augustine Park opening at Humber Bay Shores in Etobicoke way back in 2011, I was quite impressed to see the main woman herself grace the school. She spent a lot of time speaking with students, teachers and guests, and there were also displays set up so visitors could see the initiatives being helmed by the school. I just found this to be a really classy opening overall, and the site itself is beautiful. I'm rooting for this school. Here's hoping it's always packed with students.

In English he reads short stories and with assistance tries to attempt more complex words. My son also tutors for Gujarati and has learnt 1-100, letters, and basic phrases. We are very happy with Ms. Swati's professionalism. She is punctual, flexible, prepared, creative, patient, very polite and knows how to teach kids and handle personalities online and in-person.
