We've been coming to this location for years although it has gone through a number of ownership and name changes. The location is a few hundred yards from the Lake Lure Dam which would normally provide a gorgeous view of the lake, unfortunately like the lake it appears the restaurants in the area are still recovering from the impact from Hurricane Helene. We made a reservation for nine and were seated immediately upon arriving, the restaurant decor hasn't changed much over the years and like all our other visits the staff here has been gracious and very accommodating. Like one would expect the menu has undergone lots of changes so we were all excited to try something new. Although this restaurant was mostly empty it seemed the kitchen struggled to get the food out and was kinda disappointing when it arrived, it's apparent the kitchen staff isn't nearly at the level it once was so we all attributed the food quality to the struggles all the restaurants seem to be having during the areas continued recovery. We ordered a variety of dishes and all seemed to be very bland and flavorless. the portions were fine as were the prices but nothing here was memorable to anyone in our group - I ordered steamed mussels which was served luke warm and lacked any broth for dipping the toast and probably a quarter of the mussels weren't open so I discarded those, we also order the shrimp scampi pasta and it was just as disappointing no flavor. The beer was cold and the cocktails were crafted with generous pours and having dinner with friends who also traveled here was amazing - we all knew this years experience would be different but we definitely wanted to support the area restaurants. I'm sure this place will improve as things move forward so we'll return during our next visit to the Lake Lure area...

This little restaurant and bar is on the way into the town of Lake Lure. . Most things around here are a little high in prices just for a burger or chicken sandwich so I went for something different with the fried plantains with avocado and cherry tomatoes. It was delicious! Very cute interior with table games for you to play to help pass time. Even though the lake has suffered severe damage, there is still a beautiful view from outside on the patio.

Love love love this little spot. Stumbled upon it by accident after a visit to Chimney Rock. Lovely atmosphere and delicious food. Service was impeccable. Can't wait to go back!! View from my seat.

The food is great, heavy pours for wine and great overall vibe! Love going to canoe to listen to live music and enjoy the super friendly staff! Bonus is the beautiful sunset with mountains in the background. We go to Canoe every time we are in Lake Lure!

Beautiful scenery of Lake Lure and Bald Mountain behind. Had a lovely late lunch that was delicious. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. The owner stopped by to be sure we were happy with our meal. Will happily return the next time we're in the area. Plenty of on site parking and outside dining as well!

A cozy seating area with large table 3 chairs and couch . Spectacular views all around .

So glad we stopped at Canoe after a gorgeous day at Chimney Rock Park! Cozy in the best way. We both had the Mahi sandwich and would order it again because it was that good. Service was great! We learned that they opened right before Helene but persevered to help make sure the workers etc were nourished. This is a gem and if you like historical value , it has this as well! I will be back with my husband very soon!

Really nice redo for the site. Menu has expanded a Lot since the opening and so far have enjoyed everything. Brunch currently is only on Sunday, and recommend confirming opening times- ex today should be open till 9 but sign outside says will close at 8. Their music is very mellow and they have a nice vibe for a relaxing meal. Huge specialty drink menu. Friendly staff.

Brunch menu from their website...no longer serving brunch

Ok let's start with the positive first. My server, Liz, did a great job. She was very nice and attentive. A+. The atmosphere is so confusing! It's casual but the menu is expensive like a higher end restaurant. $36 for an 8 oz sirloin? At the store a sirloin is $9/lb grocery store price. So, thats $4.50 for 8 oz. 3x mark up for it being at a restaurant...$13.50. 8x mark up for a piece of leather. Also, the website advertised brunch. And...no brunch. I really wanted to try the chicken and waffles. I got the black jack sandwich. The fries had no salt. I don't mean very little. None. They were also soggy and floppy. The sandwich was bland. Even with the sauce. The turkey had no flavor. Turkey is like chicken. Bland. It needs help. The price was reasonable. I expected more. I've read previous reviews. I'm sure the owner is going to have some snarky comment about how everything is fantastic. Here's the best review tip I can give you...pay attention to the reviews. Not everyone is going to give you 5 stars. People will tell you everything is good and never come back. I love supporting small business. Especially, in Lake Lure. I won't be back. So bring on your negative reply to my review.

Holy cow! I've been…read morehere a couple of times while visiting Asheville. I come here every single time now. Plan ahead. This place is busy, because it is awesome! Make a reservation. I love Spanish food and tapas. Curate delivers like no other place I have been. I love the open kitchen - it's awesome to see them prepare the delicious food! Ask for kitchen seating for an extra treat! One of the advantages of the smaller plates is they allow you to sample from a wide range of delights! We always get the boquerones - I love the way they prepare the fresh anchovies! We also had a cheese plate, with a selection of dry, ripe, and blue Spanish cheeses - all of which were excellent and presented with very complimentary sides - the pear and apricot compote with the blue cheese was a personal favorite! We also had the patatas bravas (fried potatoes), lamb skewers, oysters, grilled shrimp, and stuffed piquillo peppers. EVERYTHING was a delight. The wine list is also exceptional. I had a delicious albarino, and a txacolina rose that was outstanding. We finished with the Tarta de Queso - which was delicious. Tangy, and lightly sweet. A perfect end to a great meal! Not just one of my favorite restaurants in Asheville, but one of my favorites period. I love Curate!

We were disappointed in our experience. We received many recommendations to go here and then found…read morethe food to be mediocre and bland. We had the cheese board, stuffed peppers, beet salad, and Mac and cheese. We didn't finish a single plate. The plate we did finish was the iberico meat. Our server never asked how we were enjoying our experience or made the observation that we clearly weren't enjoying the dishes. She spent her entire time speaking with a couple next to us to the detriment of her other guests. We did enjoy the sangria and the ambiance.

It pains me to write a 3 star review for this place because I've had previous positive experiences…read more I sat at the bar around 5p with the idea of getting an early dinner and rolling out quickly for an early day tomorrow. There were maybe 3 other people sitting there when I arrived. I ordered the chef salad with Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing and the Turkey Melt which I had once before and recall it being THE best melt I ever had. When I got my salad, it had ranch dressing. I asked the waitress what was the dressing and she said, it's our special made ranch dressing, it's sooo good. I said 'I ordered balsamic vinaigrette', she said 'oh my, you're right, we'll get this fixed for you'. Oh well, I thought it was simple. When I got the Turkey Melt, it was so messed up, I could not EVEN pick it up, it was sliding off the panini. I had a guy sitting next to me who could not even order a pizza. He didn't know what his choices were. When the waitress told him his options, he said ' wait a minute, I have to make a call'. He was talking to someone about what he could have on his pizza. When the waitress came back, he couldn't remember what he wanted, finally he just said 'I just want cheese'. Then this couple at the end of the bar are SO loud, everyone is looking at them. They were locals because the kept talking about local stuff. Then as more people came in, they all went to the end of the bar to see this couple and all of a sudden it felt like a party. I was enjoying the HDTV, it had the golf Channel, ESPN and CNBC all at the same time, three of my favs' Then the sound of rolling THUNDER and all the channels went blank. It was more than I could deal with, I ask for my bill and a go box.

Even when crowded, the spacing of the tables and overall layout ensured it never got too loud. The food was amazing!! My mom and I split several tapas, my favorite was probably the green beans! Everything we had was delicious- the paella, the charred green beans, the grilled Caesar. The cocktails were also really good and worth treating yourself. If you can, save room for dessert! They had a nice range on their dessert menu and I gobbled up the pot de crème. Our waiter was fantastic, checked on us throughout the meal, kept our waters full and made sure we had what we needed. Also, the bathroom smelled AMAZING. This may seen a little silly to include, but they had some fresh lilies in there which made the whole bathroom smell lovely (and I'm sure cover all the less pleasant usual bathroom smells ). Just a really nice detail. You can tell how much thought and attention is put into this restaurant, from the food, to the layout, to the service. Everything is given real care. This place is a gem. We will absolutely be back!
