Reading the reviews regarding Dr. Bourgon I feel compelled to write my first ever review on yelp…read more I have been fortunate to have some excellent dental care in numerous cities and Dr. Bourgon is the best dentist I've had. She is sensitive, respectful, an excellent communicator exploring and explaining options clearly. She is gentle and thorough and has my trust. I often have thought privately what an outstanding person she is. In fact when I moved away from Canmore I continued to see her as my dentist. She consulted with me while I developed a problem while in Africa travelling and was available for emergency work when I returned. I recall Dr. Bourgon is a graduate of McGill University and McGill University is ranked as the number 1 medical-doctoral school in Canada by Maclean's for 16 straight years including the most recent ranking in 2021.

Brought our son there a couple of times. Service at front was good (although archaic systems -…read moresuch as no email receipts or X-rays) but service on dental work was sub par. On the last visit of our child they could not freeze teeth/gums to do a filling. He was screaming. They looked at me like my son had a problem. They tried multiple times and left it at that. Of course he did not want to go back. My impression is that they felt my child was the issue. I doubt it. As a family, we like to try other service providers (just to do our homework and find the best care possible for us). After later consulting with a dentist (out of province and then even out of country) we realized that not all the so called cavities were not necessary to remove. Kids teeth fall out and continue to evolve - with proper care at home we can often get pass the teeth sensitivity and get back to healthy teeth without the drilling and freezing. Go figure. No teeth issues since then with no fillings! I personally feel that many dentists are too eager to fill those cavities as it pays the bills, and a few other luxuries.

Went there because i had a great experience years ago. They have new dentists now. numbing didn't…read moretake because of the (visible) swelling, despite the buckets of ib profine i had taken (which the dentist was unaware of because she didn't ask). Not that the numbing agent would have helped as she hit either my infected root or my jaw, something hard. Screamed in pain (i've had two infected wisdom teeth pulled, one infected molar pulled, and one root canal. Never screamed befor. never experienced that kind of pain at a dentist. One other time the swelling prevented numbing the tooth but they stopped because THEY KNEW THEY COULDN'T NUMB THE TOOTH PROPERLY WITH THE SWELLING). She was going to put me on anti biotics and see me next week but when i told her i had gotten a prescription for pen V from a doctor on the weekend when the pain got too much and my jaw started locking up, she said she could rush her other patient and see me today ( she would have known i was on pen V if she had of talked to her assistant instead of trying to bang out another patient first). I thought she was being nice at the time but i think it's more likely now that she just has expensive condo fees or something. But anyway, once she hit the root or jaw and i screamed she had the nerve to say in the most condescending insulting tone "it's just a needle". At that i got up and told her were done. 108 dollars to have her make the pain worse than it was when i went to the ER and no closer to getting the problem solved. If she reads this 1)take the patients information or get that information from your assistant (who was fine btw) 2) let the antibiotics have some time to bring down the swelling, one day is not enough 3) numb around the tooth befor you numb the tooth its self, it's what every good dentists done that i've had. apply numbing gel, wait, test if it worked, inject around the tooth, wait, then go for nerve. 4) Learn how to inject in the first place (maybe it was just super sensitive and the topical stuff just didn't work but, yeah, i doubt it, i felt it) 5) Don't insult the people who are paying you for a service. try and be professional. Don't know the doctors name and she's not listed on their website, but if you get a rude indian woman, run.

Just a shout out to my new dentist & team! I am new in town so I was very leery about finding a new…read moredentist. Dr. Siobhan Phillips has been so kind, professional & always takes the time to ensure I understand my treatment plan before proceeding. Alana, Kristin, Kelly (sorry for the misspelling) have all been wonderful in contributing to my care. Nobody enjoys going to the dentist but these girls made it more than tolerable & put me at ease. They ensure you're comfortable & you're well informed. I was worried about my coverage & Kelly made the extra effort to make sure I knew what was covered before starting all of my treatments. I am so grateful & would recommend this office to anyone looking for a fabulous group of professionals! Keep up the great work! Shawna
