When I first walked in I was welcomed by the owner and was told Zach would be my stylist. Zach is still an apprentice so I was surprised to pay the full rate of $28.50 (plus tip). Regardless, Zach did a great job and my cut looks great. He even rinsed my hair afterward. Overall I am pleased by the cut. I was hoping for more service as a competing Aveda salon includes a scalp massage and tea prior to a cut and they charge pretty much the same price for a men's cut. In addition the salon is not listed on any social media so this will be their first review. Salon F/X is a great place for a local trim and if needed I may visit again.

The waiting area features some historic chairs and the barber shop looks as if time stood still for quite a while (ask for a hair wash - they can do it but it is an adventure). They do walk-ins only and are usually quite busy so that there are almost every time of the day one or two people waiting. This used to be my local barber shop for several years but recent changes made me come less often: they started only accepting cash and had some staff changes. This was a good excuse to try one of the other barber shops in town :)

I have not gone to another shop, since - which did cause dome 'discussion' at work the longer my hair became but it was worth the wait and even though Sid moved his family and business to Airdrie...well, one doesn't just give-up, so I drive up to Airdrie when I need to made presentable. As long as Midtown and Sid are in business, that's where I go!
