As many of these stores I saw walking and driving around Ocean City I decided to finally stop in and see what they had. The reviews here were a wide range so my expectations were pretty low already but I decided to take a chance. Staff and Services: The staff here are a bunch of rude inexperienced teenagers with absolutely no manners whatsoever. They roll their eyes at you while your telling them what you want and then make sparky comments about your choices while your standing there acting like you can't hear them. Prices:$-$$ It really depends on what you get here as to what the price is. Candy selection: They have a very small selection of candy which is very sad as it's supposed to be a candy store. The candy in the cases look old. Nothing is made fresh here which is extremely disappointing and disgusting. You can get boring tasteless prepackaged candy that you can get pretty much anywhere else. Our Selection: We got rainbow licorice twists, black licorice twists, cotton candy, peanut butter fudge, and peanut butter truffle fudge. The licorice twists were hard as a rock, you could seriously break a tooth on it. The fudge we got were stale and tasted absolutely horrid. Toys selection: They have more toys than candy so I guess if you want a toy this is the place for you. Overall Experience: Our experience was horrible and we will not be returning ever. Rating: 0/10 Recommendation: I don't recommend this place to anyone it's not worth it. Family Friendly: This place is not family friendly no matter how friendly it looks. This staff at the south costal hwy were rude. They kept on with their conversation when we entered. I inquired about candy and the one girl had an attitude, the other could comprehend that that when we asked for a lb of fudge she told us no because it had to be sold in quarter lb... we wanted the whole lb but failed to understand that. Ugh! Maybe I'm spoiled with fresh fudge at the Jersey Shore?!? Because this fudge was horrible!!! Definitely not made in house! They had them all in containers not directly from the shelf like I'm used too. The "good fudge" was extra money! The have slot of stuffed animals and novelty items. My daughter was super excited to stop at a candy kitchen- it is brightly lit with lots of bright colors- I was surprised by the amount of stuffed animals/ toys vs candy- surprised that you can really only buy pre boxed taffy- we did however find a few treats to make the stop worthwhile read more

This place is FILTHY. This is my first review in yelp. I just couldn't resist writing one. While trying to get some service another customer mentioned to one of the employees that the place is very dirty and the candy kitchen employee said "I know". The floor is white tile but you couldn't see it. It was black. All the tables were full of old spilled ice cream and all sorts of dirt. The store was not busy so I'm not so sure what the excuse was. In addition there were no napkins for the customers. What a mess. I am sure they break all sorts of health regulations. What a shame! read more

With all my travels I say without a doubt this is the worst I have ever had! I broke my own rule in that if they are not making it on site in a tourist trap don't bother it's probably stale and that rule was taken to the extreme! Caramels or any chocolate should not crunch when you take a bite. Places like this should have regulations on how long they can keep the inventory in stock. read more

Year round, I fancy myself a peppermint taffy connoisseur, trying every brand that I cross paths with and none, not a one, comes close to Candy Kitchen's. The delight of CK's peppermint taffy is in its cool and refreshing tastiness. But there's more . . . Somewhere during my modest education, I learned that there were 4 states of matter; however, one was not mentioned, and that is of frozen taffy. A piece once hard and brittle, suddenly becomes malleable, giving the chewer an indescribable satisfaction. For those non-taffy lovers, try the fudge! It's been reported that the sugar-free versions are equally satisfying and indulgent. For the kids there are unicorn pops and Silly Bandz, as well as stuffed animals galore. read more

I'm not really that much of a Candy Kitchen fan - I'm a Dolle's girl through and through - but I was sent on a mission to pick up some fudge for my mother, so I ended up coming here. It's okay - the prices aren't really anything to write home about, they're all the same no matter what location you go to. I will say that the staff at this particular branch was very patient with me as I talked (more like yelled, heh) with my mother on the cell phone to find out exactly what kinds of fudge she wanted, so kudos to them for that. (The cell phone reception in this particular store is ATROCIOUS, by the way - be warned.) The orange creme fudge IS particularly good, though, I have to admit it. I've been a customer of Candy Kitchen from when I was 9 years old. I'm now 21 and returned to the Candy Kitchen on Coastal Highway for the first time in 12 years. I like junk candy so I purchased a quarter pound of the Lego Bricks, a quarter pound of the Sour Blue Raspberry bottles, and a half pound of the Sour Blue raspberry laces. I feel like Candy Kitchen has declined in quality over the years because I expected a much higher quality, If you're looking for "Sour".. Candy Kitchens definition of sour may not be the same as your definition, their sour gummy items are honestly just coated in sugar and not sour at all. The blue raspberry flavor is the worst blue raspberry flavor I've ever had, it has a horrible aftertaste. I can't be too critical as I did only get two or their items. I'll update my review the next time I'm in Ocean City. As of now though, I'd recommend Wokenfuss on the boardwalk over Candy Kitchen. read more

This place was not good. I'm not sure if people leaving the positive reviews actually tried the food or just enjoyed the ambiance (which is kind of cool actually, which probably led me to expect more from the candy) or don't mind getting ripped off on vacation. I purchased the chocolate truffles. Do NOT purchase the chocolate truffles. They were so hard they crunched when you bit into them. Truffles are not supposed to be crunchy they are supposed to be creamy, leading me to believe they were sitting there too long. I should say my son bought gummy bears and they were very good. Fresh, so they probably do a good turnover on that product. Daughter had the ice cream. Soft serve and overpriced, same you get at McDonald's at quadruple the price. Disclaimer in that there were so many candy kitchens along coastal Blvd I can't remember if it was this one or one down this road, but they all sold the same thing so my advice would be to save the money and buy candy at the gas station for a fraction of the price (except the gummies, which my son wants me to tell you were totally worth it). read more

Stopped in to one of the locations at the lower end of the boardwalk. Got a peanut butter cup chocolate covered pretzel, and it was pretty much awesome. They have a LARGE selection of sweets. Salt water taffy and silly bands as well. read more

Really? Each store is an exact sterile environment duplicate of all of their other gazillion stores at OC and neighboring beaches. What happened to mom and pop candy shoppes? You know, the stores with a little character, charm, unique trinkets...I miss those stores at the beach. There seems to be a Candy Kitchen on every block in Ocean City. In fact, I'm not 100% sure that this is the Candy Kitchen we visited. Never the less, the salt water taffy was amazing. So much so that the price was ridiculously high but definitely worth it if you like salt water taffy. read more

So I absolutely love Candy Kitchen, in fact, I've been to 3 location this week alone. So when I stopped into this location I was surprised by how rude the staff was, yes it was late and yes they were closing soon, but the demeanor of the staff read hurry up and get out. First of all, the employee asssisting me kept mixing up my selections, despite my naming them clearly.... and I still ended up paying for items I did not want. Secondly, the employee helping us. had absoltely no idea how to weigh candy....we got way more than I asked for. Lastly, at the other locations I went to, a quarter pound of candy consisted of 3 selections where they insisted I could only get 2. They simply wanted to hurry up and get me out. Considering how much candy I was purchasing, you'd think they want the sale. 2 stars for the yummy goodness and 0 stars for customer service.....simply go to another location! read more

Candy Kitchen - you can't visit OC without a stop at a Candy Kitchen. They are located all over OC so finding one is easy. Prices are reasonable for the quality of candy. Look for money saving coupons in the Visitor's or Sunny Day Guides. The ice cream was good but we had to leave as we were told to go to the Five Guys two doors down to use the bathroom. If you are serving food, you really should have restrooms as eating does move the intestines along....especially for an 11-year-old little girl!!??? Will not return... We come here every year and load the kids up on junkfood. They have just about everything you have ever had from your childhood. We spend too much money, but F it, we're on vacation. And our kid loves the selection of Uglydolls along with his gummy army men. read more

Love it!! They have a wide selection of candies and fudges, more than I've seen elsewhere on the OCMD boardwalk. They usually have a great deal going on where if you buy 2 lbs of fudge, you get one pound free. :) Their fudge is awesome, the candy is awesome, the dark chocolate truffles are awesome. Candy is stale and not fresh at all. Almost broke a tooth when I was trying to eat the salt water taffy..it must be months old because it had nothing fresh about it. I also was greeted by rude employees who had no intention of helping me at all. Horrible. I also noticed that the fudge wasn't fresh, because my friend bought some and it was not creamy or tasty at all. Something weird going on here. We went to all the major shops that sell fudge in Ocean City, MD. We got chocolate fudge at each one and did a taste test. Candy Kitchen's fudge was the least appealing of the bunch. Not very chocolatey and also a little bit grainy. We liked Dolle's and Jessica's much better. Wakenfuss was also somewhat better. read more
