I don't particularly mind waiting times as I understand the unpredictability of an OBGYN office, but I've never felt them to be excessive. Dr. Mushtaler is exceptional! She's a wonderful doctor and surgeon with a fun and lighthearted sense of humor. She's easy to talk to, caring, and compassionate. She spends as much time as you need with you and doesn't make you feel like your rushing her or taking up her time. In my lifetime I've had two surgeries and I've entrusted her to both and I've never had any regrets about it. She's straightforward and matter of fact and that is what I need from my doctor. But on the other hand, she's not so so stuffy all the time that you can't laugh and joke around with her. I would recommend Dr. Mushtaler to any women, especially if you're a woman in need of gynecological surgery.

I sure as…read morehell ain't, but Dr. Mushtaler makes me feel as comfortable as I possibly could in that situation, unless I was given anesthesia beforehand. She is now on her fourth office in the Austin area, and I have followed her around the city, since 2006. I'd been experiencing a hormonal imbalance since 2000, and had seen two gynos (one in 2000, one in 2001, both in Dallas), neither of which had a clue of how to cure my problem. I was given oral birth control by both gynos, and that shit did nothing to help me. Then I moved here, and I figured I should just live with the problem, so I did for the next five years. Started getting the birth control patch from Planned Parenthood in 2005, for obvious reasons, and it didn't help with my hormonal problem. I really didn't think it would, and that was not a factor in my decision to use the patch. But I hated the patch anyway, for several reasons. In 2006, I decided to see a new gyno about some other form of birth control, and to revisit my hormonal imbalance malady. So I saw Dr. Mushtaler when she was located in the Seton NW hospital. One visit I had, I explained my symptoms, told her I needed birth control for sexual reasons since I was unimpressed by the patch, and she said, "Have you ever thought about trying Nuvaring?" I'd only heard of it, but had no idea how it worked. She explained it to me, and wrote a prescription, and I was wowed by the results. Cleared up my hormonal problem in an instant. And it's a lot more tolerable than the stupid patch is. No more patch adhesive stuck to my bum; no more worry about it coming loose; etc. I mean, I may as well have stapled the damn things to my ass. And she's a great conversationalist. I've been to other gynos who never say a word to you (except, "Relax!") during the pelvic exam, but Dr. Mushtaler always remembers me and what I'm going through in my life. Last year, she asked how things were going with jobs. At that time, they were great, but no longer. She remembers what man/men I'm seeing, and asks friendly questions about them. I'm talking about, "How does he treat you? What sort of stuff does he like?" Obviously, the has-he-been-tested question comes up, but I can always answer that I know what I need to know. I've honestly never felt this good about any gyno. I legitimately despise doing the annual pelvic exam, but if I've gotta do it, I'm glad Dr. Mushtaler is the one doing it. *Snatch* her up while you can, ladies! Let's face it, when it comes to gynecological exams, GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE DONE with it, you know what I mean? And Dr. Mushtaler gets it done quick and painless. Oh, holy crap, I'm gonna break into song now... I come in, in the morning light. Mushtaler asks, "What's been goin' on in your life?" Oh, Doctor, dear, I'm not a fortunate one, But this girl, she wants to have done. Oh, girls just want to have done. The phone rings in the middle of my life. The nurse tells me I need to have no cancer fright. Mushtaler, dear, you know you're still number one! 'Cause girls, they want to have done. Im a GenXer, entering perimenopause at 49yrs old. I just moved to TX fm Southern California where I had access to some of the best medical in the world HOAG, UCLA, USC medical centers. Looking back I was prob in peri around age 44-45 with heavy cycles, brainfog, back sweats, major insomnia. She was one of the ONLY MD's who actually listened, saw and heard me. Its NOT normal to "deal with our next phase female symptoms". I went for a second opinion on a hysterectomy after seeing another gyn who I felt was treating me like a paycheck vs a patient. I was also gaining weight at a rapid amt which has never happened in my entire life. Dr. Abikhaled listened to me, explained why I am indeed a candidate for a hysterectomy based on my labs, ultrasound, biopsy, symptoms. She was also transparent sharing if I didn't feel comfortable or confident with her, she had 2 other colleagues she could refer me to. THIS is the type of medicine I need for me. Dr. Abikhalid is also a very clear communicator. She is very frank while having a nice bedside manner which I appreciate. Fast forward to pre-surgery consultation, based on my case I discussed keeping my ovaries bc Im not in full meno yet and didn't want to slam into meno like some of my friends did. She agreed that was a good option for me. I had my hysterectomy, preserving my ovaries via robotic surgery. It was 90min, outpatient. She was sure to have my pain meds ordered ahead of time. I had 4 small incisions from the surgery. No bleeding. I was off oxy on day 3. Managed pain with Tylenol/motrin. 1 week out I felt pretty strong, an ab binder would have been useful for the 1st 2 weeks esp for sleeping so buy 1 ahead of time (amazon has tons). Helps for ab core support. 3 weeks I was doing short walks outside yet still got fatigued pretty easily. Got back on my hrt patch and no more brain fog, no more insomnia, no more swollen hands and ankles. 6weeks I felt strong and fatigue finally was gone. I was cleared to do light weights again. Im at 8weeks. Im back exercising. Lifting up to 30lb. Back to weight training. Feeling strong, clear headed, no more swelling in my feet/ankles, insomnia is very little and i still get "mild" back sweats around 2/3am. Nothing like pre-hysterectomy where i was sweating through my shirt. If you have peri symptoms and painful or super heavy cycles like I had that is NOT normal. See Dr. Abikahlid. I found her office, thanks to a referral, when I became pregnant with my son. I was really lucky to have an awesome pregnancy but my experience with her made it even more so. She's honest, direct, and supportive of your concerns and decisions regarding labor and delivery. I had a lot of anxiety in the beginning due to a previous miscarriage and she took the time to provide my husband and I with extra ultrasounds and check ups to ease our minds. The office is really great about getting back to you with lab results and any questions you have really quickly. Their patient portal is easy to use and they usually respond within hours. I like that all of my health information is provided to me in the portal and that they email me notes from each visit. Being in a doctors office can be overwhelming and having that information to fall back on is really helpful. There have been a couple of times that we've had a bit of a wait to get into our appointment but that's to be expected when people are giving birth. The office is really great about making you aware if your physician had to run out for a delivery but for the most part we have been seen within 20 minutes of our appointment time. I could go on way too long about Dr. Landherr but I'll end on this, she knows what she's doing and that knowledge and experience puts you at ease. But not all personalities click. I LOVE Kate. And I know that she confers with Dr. SK about everything, she doesn't work in a bubble. Furthermore, if I ever wanted to talk to Dr. SK, I could, easily. We had to see both Dr. PK and Dr. SK. Both are amazing doctors. Kind, understanding, up on research, intelligent, and honest. I also appreciated that they spoke to me like a professional. I have experience researching endocrine systems and didn't need things to be put in laymen terms. They *heard* me and we conversed on a level I felt appropriate. An important note- Dr. PK is very well known for his success rates with azoospermia patients. And their clinic is very comfortable handling delicate Micro-TESE sperm. Also, my husband is an immigrant who is shy with his English. They never made him feel unwelcome or stupid. He likes all of them a lot as well. I should also note that we began our journey with thein Sept 2016. At that time their financial person was horrible. I think a lot of people complained. I remember sitting in the room listening to the fees, trying not to cry, and she could obviously care less. HOWEVER, in early 2017 they got a new financial person who is much better with both accuracy and empathy. They worked with us in so many ways, I felt like the entire office was on our side. I still feel like they are on our side. After our retrieval, my progesterone was too high and we had to wait to do a frozen transfer. I'm glad I trusted this wisdom. We did another saline ultrasound during the wait and found more polyps. A quick surgery removed them and we did the frozen transfer a few weeks later. While I'm not sure how this will all end, my husband and I have a positive pregnancy blood test today. With our own eggs and sperm. Pretty awesome for a couple with azoospermia and a fibroid and polyp history. Bottom line - we trusted their wisdom and guidance and are glad we did. I had an appointment with my endocrinologist the next day, who reassured me the 'tumor' was a 1.4mm unconfirmed microadenoma. Nothing to worry about and she wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see it on my next scan. Even if it was a confirmed microadenoma it was far too small to have any effect on my pituitary gland. My family and I were taken on a cruel emotional roller coaster for nothing. Most communication and treatment is done through support staff, such as the NP, I saw the doctor maybe twice in my 1+ years with this facility.

After sharing with Dr S's team where I was mentally and physically with the IVF process, the team worked with me to find an IVF transfer protocol that met me where I was. IVF in general can be very mentally and physically draining, so be sure to let the team know how you're feeling if it becomes too much. IMO these doctors are definitely worth the wait time. That's how you know they spend time with their patients and THEY CARE. Any great doctor's office typically has a wait time. I highly recommend this clinic for anyone struggling with infertility. The one learning curve I did have transferring from another clinic was figuring out how contacting the nurse team and doctor worked. At the last clinic, I was able to message them directly in a portal. At this clinic, you have to call and pick the correct extension depending on the day and time. So when you meet with your nurse on the first day, make sure you ask them the proper procedure for that and make sure you understand it. Once you've figured that out, it's pretty straightforward. Dr S's nurse team is stellar, and they are really on top of things. If only every doctor's office had a team like that! They have spoiled me with how good they are! Another thing is to stay on top of is the billing with the billing dept since appointments and procedures happen frequently. That's the one thing I wish I was more on top of and kept better track of, especially in the beginning of the journey.
