Either I'm wrong about that or Parisians are paying out the nose eight times for their whimsical gift items. Still, the shop is well-stocked and very fun to browse. You can find a huge selection of action figures and little toys related to various areas of pop culture - animes, video games, movies, cartoons, etc. I enjoyed a whole set of wands from the Harry Potter movies, as well as uniforms and Hermione's time turner. There are Twilight trinkets too, of course. An army of figurines from One Piece line a glass case, and Matt B. and I found a trove of Barbapapa toys. I almost bought a Raving Rabbid before deciding it was way too expensive. Of course, there are comic books too, and plenty of other random knick-knacks. The vibe of the place is just fun and conducive to a long browse. It's located near the Sorbonne, so I'm sure it gets student traffic. I know I would spend some time here if I were a student and it were in my path.

A smaller section of collectible albums is well alphabetized. The staff is friendly and helpful. It is open late most every night, so you can visit here after the other BD shops have closed!

J'explique que je vais payer avec le compte Labaz d'une de mes amies et on me répond clairement que ce n'est pas un problème, qu'il suffit soit que la personne soit présente soit de montrer sa pièce d'identité. Je cherche donc la pièce d'identité de mon amie et la montre, et là une des libraires aux cheveux courts devient soudainement très désagréable et change complètement de discours en disant que finalement la personne doit obligatoirement être présente. Quand je lui fais remarquer qu'elle venait de nous dire l'inverse, elle commence à chercher des excuses qui n'avaient ni queue ni tête. Elle mentionnait sans arrêt "sa responsable" qui aurait donné cette consigne, mais cette dernière n'est jamais venue nous parler directement. Je trouve ça assez lâche de faire passer ses employées pour des messagères au lieu de venir expliquer la situation aux clientes. Une librairie devrait être un endroit agréable, mais l'attitude froide et agacée de certaines employées a vraiment gâché l'expérience.

Located near St Michel metro, the store is very close to the Latin Quarter as well as the Jardins de Luxembourg. Dealing in more than genres, Gibert has the ability to find you browsing for hours as you move from Reggae to Rock to Avant-Garde to Celtic to pretty much anything else. But it gets even better, as they also stock a lot of very well-priced 2nd-hand music and also deal in hard-to-find music magazines (such as Punk Planet) at very reasonable prices. Worth setting aside an hour or two for during your visit to Paris if you can, Gibert is one place you'll remember fondly long after leaving the city.
