I liked this clean, organized store in Canmore, Alberta. A busy tourist town on a long weekend. I went in search of a can opener. The cheapest one I saw was $10.99. I was desperate, so I bought it. When I look at the Canadian Tire web page, it lists this product as $4.99. This annoys me. read more

Automotive Department has the worst customer service. Full time trying to upsell. Wife went in with a screw in the tire (easy fix) and she left in tears because they wouldn't fix it and the only solution was to buy 4 new tires 1500$ CLEARLY A SCAM!! I work in a shop and was unable to help my wife at the time (I was not in Canmore) and fixed the leak in about 45 mins. They gave the tire back to my wife not on the rim and the pressure sensor missing. I do NOT recommend using Canadian Tire Canmore Canmore for any Automotive needs as they will LIE, CHEAT and STEAL from you if they can. In the last month had 2 horrible experiences. first bought a set of 4 tires online, drove 1 HR. to the store to be told they did not have them. then tried to sell me 4 different tires that where lesser quality for more money. Then 3 weeks later needed some soil, checked the web site to make sure they had it and they did. went to the store to buy, they had 42 bags sitting on a pallet, but would not sell me one. the reason was they had jest counted them for inventory. I guest that no one in the store knows how to do simple subtraction, mines 1. seems simple but I guest not. read more

Visited to buy my grandson a toy and I was shocked to find virtually no toys. They were doing a seasonal change to Christmas but all the toy shelves were basically bare. Luckily I found one item pretty much the only item on sale that my grandson was ok with. When I entered the store there was no one at the customer service desk. I had to go to the cashier to tell them I needed to check my backpack before shopping. I placed my backpack on a shelf in customer service by myself. I noticed a sign saying they were short staffed. I basically shopped the entire time without seeing hardly a single employee. If it wasn't for the 2 cashiers I could have walked in and out without paying for anything. I would have given them one star but we did get a pretty cool toy for my grandson on sale! Only would go back there as a very last resort. read more

Came in needing to buy new windshield wipers and was helped by Zander in the auto section. What a helpful, happy and positive worker. He went above and beyond to assist us with the process! The ladies at the cash were so sweet as well. It's our first visit to Canmore and we felt so happy to see people willing to help and be kind. Just returned home and had to write this while the bad experience was still fresh. Today my wife and I left for Radium, I noticed a wood screw in our back left tire and a very slow leak at a pitstop halfway there at Castle Junction. The pressure reading onscreen was dropping slowly as we made our way which made me decide to stop and check things out. Decided to backtrack to Canmore to get it fixed so we could get back on the road. Pulled into the Canadian Tire parking lot relieved to see the garage bay door open. Saw two guys in overalls standing around chatting with each other and asked who I talk to about getting my tire repaired. They directed me to the front desk inside the store. I explained our situation looking forward to getting our vehicle back on the road as I wasn't sure if we could make it back to Calgary and happily resume our weekend trip to Radium. The grey haired fellow in glasses working the desk smiled at me and said sorry we are now closed. I asked when do you close? He replied 5pm. Well it was 5:04pm and as I mentioned earlier two mechanics were chatting in the garage bay area not appearing to be in any rush to leave. I politely asked if he could squeeze me in as my tire was getting worse and didn't know how much further we could make it. He smiled and recommended we get a hotel room and come back in the morning as everyone else is also closed. We couldn't believe it!?! My wife is 5 months pregnant and how would we drive back to the garage with a flat the next day??? I do greatly respect everyone's time off but this guy couldn't be bothered to lift a finger considering the circumstances and those 4 minutes past 5pm...I would have been more than happy to tip should he/they have helped us. We then drove to Shell in Canmore, I filled the tire up with more air and managed to luckily limp home to Calgary. We respect it was officially 4 minutes after business hours. However never experienced such a complete lack of service until today. I know the repair would have taken less than 15 mins as I've had them done before. On May 20, 2022 I took my car into Canadian Tire in Canmore with some noisy wheel instability that showed up after I put my summer wheels on. Summer and winter tires have their own rims, so I attributed the issue as weights dropping off during winter storage. $110. later and wheels being rebalanced (ostensibly) I discovered the exact same issue persisting, so I returned to the service desk to ask their feedback on this. What I got was polite indifference and the clear sense that they were not going to address this, and instead suggested I purchase other wheel services which made no sense given the situation specific issue. This experience confirmed for me what others have stated that Canadian Tire is not your go to place for automotive issues beyond tire repair and or replacement. Lesson learned. read more

Not terribly keen on this Canadian tire location. Store is usually pretty cluttered. Never enough cashiers and their automotive service is lacking though I appreciate the review of all the problems with my vehicle I would have appreciated the oil for my oil change. Also the 30minutes wait while the invoice was being typed up was excessive at best. I used to go out of my way to shop at Canadian Tire and since moving to Canmore I may go out of my way to avoid it. read more

My friend and I went into the automotive department as the splash shield running underneath my car had come loose and was dragging on the ground. I had asked was if I could possibly get somebody to just remove it for me as I did not have the tools to do so (was a total of 3 bolts) so I could make my 6 hour drive home without it dragging the whole way, and the man working the front desk was not pleasant to deal with. He was very condescending in the way he was speaking to us, and was trying to correct me saying it was called an engine shield and not a splash guard (which may be true but is completely irrelevant, I just needed it taken off). He was talking to us like we were complete idiots. Then proceeded to tell me that they could not help us because they close in 20 minutes. I understand if they could not fit me in, but I feel the way he was speaking to my friend and I was very unnecessary and made me not want to go back. read more

I took my van to have two valve stems replaced, as they were leaking (and they were not broken, they were just acting up because it was -32C outside). They decided, without asking me, to change all four valves entirely (including the two that were working perfectly), and charge me accordingly. To add insult to injury, each original valve had a nut from my aftermarket TPMS (that I forgot to remove). When I asked about the four nuts, they gave me one of the four, and claim adamantly that there were no nuts on the other three. Liars. read more

We broke down on the Trans Canada highway. A costly tow ... and repairs expected to be likewise ... with suspected alternator and fried battery. We were stranded on the weekend having had the truck towed to Can. Tire and the fifth wheel to a campground. We learned that there was no place in town that would work on our truck However, Michael happened to be working on Saturday as he was the guy i/c Automotive. Normally they only do tires and oil changes with shop hands available on weekends. As the boss, Michael had all his certifications. He had most of the parts on hand and arranged for others from the local NAPA. Michael stayed later to his scheduled shift and did the work himself to get us back on the road. Decided I wanted new wheels for my truck. Ordered the rims through Canmore Lube and the tires from Canadian Tire because they were 25% off; saving me about $600. On a Monday my wheels arrived so I went to pick up my tires from Canadian tire; they told me that the warranty I had bought for my tires would be void unless I had them do the mount and balance.. I explained the rims were a negative 24 offset and my tries were going to rub which was going to require some minor trimming inside my fender wells. The manager told me that's all fine but the earliest they could get me in was Wednesday at 1pm. So Wednesday morning I go pick up my wheels and bring them to Canadian Tire. At 3pm I receive a call from Canadian Tire; they refused to mount my tires because of the rub which I explained to the manager was going to happen. I had to pick up the tires, and wheels and bring everything back over to Canmore Lube so they could mount my new wheels. Which at this point couldn't be done until Thursday. So in the end 4 days later, and hours of my time wasted; I had Canmore Lube do the mount for me. DO NOT GO TO CANADIAN TIRE FOR ANYTHING AUTOMOTIVE. THEY DO NOT HAVE A CLUE. THE $600 THAT I SAVED WAS LOST IN MY TIME THAT WAS WASTED TO INCOMPETENCE. Crappy tire will always be crappy tire. Don't forget it. read more

I booked my car in to install winter tires purchased in store. It took 30 mins in a line up just to drop off my keys. My car was not ready when I went to pick it up and took an additional 1.5 hours beyond what I'd been told. No phone call to let me know they were running behind. Another 30 mins on top of that in line to pick up my keys & vehicle. The computer system seems to require multiple entries of the same information which makes for a painfully slow process. The staff were very friendly on a busy day but didn't seem in a hurry to get customers through the line up. read more

Where to begin? Charging for an air filter that wasn't replaced seems benign compared to putting the wrong tires on the wrong rims, taking 7 hours to swap tires, and then finding out that they were missing rings, which somehow took 10 weeks to replace. Parts dept is only there on weekdays, they rarely answer the phone, they don't even keep info in a computer. I'll never be coming here again for vehicle service. read more

Spoke with the owner Pat Pilon on Monday morning and my opinion he is an idiot. He didn't care either. 3, THREE, times he told me well we don't do road side service and THREE times I told him the car was in his parking lot. He wasn't listening which showed he didn't care. When I told him Steve the "manger" intimidated his staff not to give me his contact info he said well it doesn't matter I was out of town. WTF?! Terrible service. Eventually the job has been done. But the 2 persons - one is Michael - at the counter are totally uninterested by your presence before, during and after the repair. Contact with the mechanical staff is great and the job seems to have been done perfectly as I can judge. That place definitely needs to review the counter/ manager " team" so that you may feel more consideration as a client Or at least be trained to hold the position more efficiently for a better customer care service. Maybe also have a look at updating their computer skills or just update the computer system ..... 25' in front of the computer just to set up the document before the job and another 25' to set up the bill. If you still have no other choice be prepared with drink, food and tons of patience .... It is going to be along and zen experience. read more

There are some truly nice staff, however, I doubt they will be that way long. With all the turnover, and it seems lack of management this is not one of the best in the chain. I've waited a long time nearly 15 min for someone to return to help me. As well it seems that every big ticket item they have on sale is quickly hidden from the floor and often times "Too difficult to get" come back later when there is someone in who can help you. I have 2 rain checks, one for a humidifier one for a tool box. Both in the store just too hard to find. I have not heard from them in 4 months for one, and 2 for the second. They need some good staff. read more

Charged us and lied about the work that was obviously not done. Went in for windshield repairs and when we came back, the chips were still there. Was told that two other cracks (which weren't there to begin) were fixed instead. Still got charged $67 for no labour. read more

Our rental car started loosing air in the right rear tire and by the next morning was completely flat. Of course, it was the Canada Day holiday and most places were closed for the weekend and would not reopen until Tuesday. I called Canadian Tire in Canmore and spoke with Rob in the Auto Center about repairs. He didn't have an appointment available but managed to squeeze me in, on a Sunday afternoon no less. His tech, Roman had the tire repaired in 20 minutes. These guys were very friendly and got down to business with no drama. read more

Had the ATV battery I needed in stock. Would sell it to me but told me to return in "3 or 4 hours" and it would be ready then. This was early morning and I was all ready to head out on the trail for a day of adventure. They told me the battery needed to be filled before they would turn it over to the paying customer. In the past when going to the Cochrane Canadian Tire store, they would fill it up for me while I waited (around 5 minutes). This store is UNDERSTAFFED and all the old farts at the auto service counter are overworked and underpaid. Don't waste your time - drive to the Cochrane Canadian Tire and be happy with the extra fuel and time wasted. This CT is the worst I've ever been to. read more

We had a much better experience (with what looks like the same gentleman). Ran a flat on the way from Waterton to Canmore (Thanks for the crappy almost-out-of-profile tires Hertz). Went to canadian tire first thing next morning as we were staying only one day in Canmore. There were tree people in front of us and all we kept hearing was that they were fully booked for the day. Needed a 20" box fan that could pull air through a 20" furnace filter to help abate wildfire smoke in our residence which uses a boiler rather than furnace. There was one left of the premium brand name, and one that is a cheaper Canadian Tire brand. I asked the 'sales associate' who was stocking items in the aisle, if I could remove them from their boxes so I could compare the blades and make sure both would work. He told me no-way would they allow me to open sealed boxes. So I bought both, and only one will pull air through the filter (the more expensive one). Now I have to drive back to Canmore to return the cheaper one. Ironically I then found the better one listed for $3.00 less at a local Banff outlet. A few days before this, a salesperson in the garden center told me they did not have a type of potting soil mix that was listed on the website as on sale. I subsequently found it on pallets there were inaccessible behind a bunch of plant bearing trolleys the same salesperson had just parked there. Clearly this person did not want to move the trolleys out of the way, so I did it myself. As noted in many other reviews, the staff are lacking in training, and the pricing is such that unless it is on sale, you should only buy at this location if you are in a desperate hurry and cannot get it anywhere else. read more

Went to buy bear spray and the cashier was rude and found out later that it was way overpriced (25% higher than the sporting goods store on Main Street for the identical product). It was a great inconvenience for her to show me the can located 3 meters behind the counter before I paid for it, even though nobody else was waiting in line, and she incorrectly described the higher-priced product as containing 1 ounce more than the other, which I couldn't tell since she refused to even show me the other can. And of course returns are not allowed regardless whether the shrink wrap or zip ties were removed. read more

Canmore Canadian Tire really needs more trained staff on the floor.Honestly i went in for an item that i looked for by myself could not find it i tried looking for a staff member after five or so minute i found one.i asked him to help me find what i was looking for.He said go to auto motives so i did the line up was at the door one cashier by herself.Stood in line that did not move for at least eight minutes.I left for Home Hardware wellaa got help within two minute but they did not have what i was looking for.Nice little hardware store though.I feel sorry for the staff at Canadian Tire they must just hate most days knowing flack they have to deal with.Come on Canadian Tire pay and train your staff better and oh ya hire more staff i am sure the staff you have now would appreciate it.This is not the first time i have had problems with this store. read more

1-800-387-8803 is Canadian Tire's National Customer Service phone number so you can contact them when this store's customer service department treats you as badly as I was treated. Despite having the receipt for a $9 unopened, unused item purchased two days before with cash, Trish refused to process refund because I was not comfortable handing over excessive amounts of personal information that she was entering into a computer. I indicated other stores have procedures in place for customers who are uncomfortable sharing personal information. At that point Trish swung round the computer display, pointing at where address details were to be entered, and indicated that the store has a legal right to collect unlisted phone numbers and private residential information, and no refund would happen until I complied. When I politely asked to speak to a manager, I was told Luc was at lunch with his phone off. I am a merchant myself (have owned a retail store for 21 years), I tried to talk merchant to merchant, but she kept talking over me in a loudly raised voice. I left without the refund. I have been victim of identity theft that hinged on the thief knowing residential information. Local police advise never give away your personal details such as in this situation. I adhere to that advice. The national customer service confirmed there is no corporate policy to gather the info the store wanted. I should have been been given a prompt cash refund, which is according to their corporate policy. read more

After moving there from NS she had to get it registered in that province. The manager of the service bay quoted her a price between 1500 to 2000 dollars to get everything as it should be. New tires struts etc etc etc,Two weeks go by another 500 we are up to 2500. More excuses another week another 500. A mechanic friend of my daughter goes in and questions the manager who states * I have her signed consent to do this work and yes" Im taking her to the cleaners: but I have the written consent. Now a young girl working in the Rockys making min wage really needs to be screwed over.After almost a month the bill totals 3700.00 dollars, On a 2008 suzuki swift hmmmmmmmmmmm hmmmmm making that car worth to sell now about hmmmmm3500.00. I don't think I have ever experience worst customer service then I did within the auto service department. I was never called to be told that my car was ready to be picked up, I called to find out (After being on hold for about an hour) and was made to seem like I was an idiot for not knowing that my car was ready. Charged a ridiculous amount for very little work actually done to the car. The agent at the desk who I have encountered a few times now was horrid. Did not know his departments provided services at all, had to keep interrupting another agent who was with a customer to find out the answers to my questions. I was misinformed when picking up my car of the work that was done and had to return where, I was called after dropping my car off and told it was my fault that I had to bring it back. My favourite part was at the end of the phone conversation the agent (the same one whom I dealt with in person) proceeded to ask who he was calling because he couldn't remember. I was absolutely appalled by this and just shows how little they value their customers. On top of this, the work that my car requires is still not done (this started over 2 weeks ago) and due to how I have been treated I am taking my car back and going somewhere else. In the end I did ask to speak with the manager, who seems like the only one there with any sort of common sense and sense of accountability for his department, who attempted to turn my experience around. I have been to this location a few times purely out of convenience and have experience TERRIBLE service every single time. If you're looking to have ANYTHING done to you car, go somewhere else. You'll thank yourself later, as will you wallet. read more

I have done business with their automotive business twice. First time with my brakes & 2nd with tires. They say it,s first come first served (bull). Both times i was the first one in & both times i had to wait over 4hrs. I have talked to a few people since. The one had his winters changed over to summers. They ruined one of his tires & then would not accept responsibility. Another waited so long for his tire work to be done he got fed up & went to Kal Tire instead. I like Canadian Tire. I have had work done by them in Cochrane. They have always been good. I would strongly recommend that if you want shop work done in Canmore to go elsewhere. If you go to Cochrane & get it done you will be home sooner in Canmore than if you got it done in Canmore. I know 6 people that will no longer get any major work done in Canmore. Myself,my two boys who have cars,one of ones i mentioned above & his brother & the one that had his tire ruined. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I called to check about the advertised oil change specials on the Canadian Tire website and found that this store was charging almost double what the offer was stating. I called the Cochrane Store and they quoted me the pricing offered on the website. When I called back to ask why there was a difference, the person on the phone in the Automotive department was rude and condescending, laughed at me, and refused to give me his name or a Manager. On subsequent attempts to call back the Store to speak with a Manager I was hung up on immediately no matter what department I chose. Corporate Customer Service had no explanation or recourse other than they will forward my complaint to the Store Owner. At this point I am gathering information to contact Industry Canada and file an official complaint for misleading advertising and price gouging under the DECEPTIVE MARKETING PRACTICES ACT, as I hold out no hope for a call-back or even an apology for the way I was treated. If you are the Store Owner and are reading this you need to look at new Staff and training ASAP... they are costing you money, customers, and affecting your reputation. A gorilla on meth would perform better than the idiot I talked to today. read more
