My experience with Canadian Choice Windows & Doors left me with significant concerns regarding their sales process, transparency, and customer service. Initially, I was attracted by the company's marketing, product claims, and advertised 25-year warranty. However, after reviewing the warranty documentation in detail, I found that many components and features are covered for much shorter periods, along with numerous exclusions and limitations. While these details may be disclosed in the warranty guide, they did not align with the impression I initially received from the sales presentation and advertising. The sales process itself felt highly pressured. I was encouraged to make a decision quickly and provide a deposit, and I was surprised when the pricing changed by several thousand dollars from what I originally understood it would be. For a major home improvement project, I expected greater transparency and consistency throughout the quoting process. As part of my due diligence, I researched customer feedback online and raised concerns about reviews I had read. Rather than addressing those concerns directly, I was told that many of the negative reviews were fake and posted by competitors who could not compete on price. I found that response disappointing and unprofessional. Customer concerns should be acknowledged and addressed on their merits rather than dismissed outright. Ultimately, my wife and I decided not to proceed with the project. The agreement was signed late on a Thursday night, and we notified the company the next week that we wished to cancel. Given that there was a 10-day cancellation period, I was surprised to learn that our $4,000 deposit cheque had already been deposited before we communicated our decision to cancel. To be fair, the company did process the refund within the timeframe outlined in their contract. However, the contrast between the speed of collecting the deposit and the speed of returning those funds after the contract was cancelled was frustrating. The deposit was provided on The Thursday, cancellation was communicated early the following week, and the refund was not received until almost 3 weeks later. While this may have complied with their internal policies, it did not leave me feeling that customer experience was a priority. Given what I was told about negative reviews, I suspect this review may also be dismissed as coming from a competitor. For clarity, I am not a competitor. I am a real customer who was prepared to spend a significant amount of money with this company and am simply sharing the experience that ultimately led me to take my business elsewhere. While staff were generally courteous in their communications, the overall experience left me with little confidence in the company's transparency, sales practices, and commitment to customer service. The sales representative Derek and our installers were both amazing I would give them five stars each. However the manufacturer that these guys use gave us the wrong colour door which we accepted a $1000 discount because we did not want to wait to get a door during the winter months, and the one door that we got installed with a screen does not close properly and there's nothing they can do about it because of the frame and handle on the screen door. We were also getting harassed for payment a day after the original installation even though they told us to wait for a solution to fix the door screen which eventually was determined that nothing could really be done. So then we paid the invoice the next morning and we received an email in the early afternoon threatening to tack on late payment fees etc. They were more concerned and interested in receiving payment than they were providing a solution for the screen door which was very disappointing. Aside from that, when our installers were here they tried calling the office five or six times of which there was no answer and they were clearly frustrated themselves. While our sales representative, Derek, and installers were both great and we would deal with them personally any day again, I will not be using Canadian Choice in the future and will be finding a different company to replace all of our windows next year. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. the manager Olga needs to be replaced she offers NO customer service. only want money for poor work and when they get it wrong the customer has to suffer. the doors they supplied were a different shade of white than the windows and when I said I was not accepting them she said they are white and their contract does not stipulate the same white shading. they agreed to replace our blinds to get the order but when they finished and the blinds didn't fit anymore she refused to honor her word. RUN from this company go to another one, anyone will be better than these con-men and crooks. Four of the windows cracked and shattered within days of install and we had to wait weeks to get the replacements. Doors don't lock right either. Really poor quality of product and service. I bought windows from Canadian Choice in 2020. Every winter after these windows have frozen up. They are absolutely the worst bunch of GARBAGE I have ever had. These window performed the same as the original windows that froze up every winter with this CRAP. I lived in Regina and had windows replaced in my home there and they out performed this CRAP I have now. Unfortunately the sales person gives you a bunch of BS that this is normal. I'd give 0 stars if I could. Whole process was awful. Shoddy install. Had to ask for a receipt and then had to ask them to date it. We asked for 3 of the basement windows to be egress for future potential renovation (one room was already classified as a bedroom with a closet). We went to start building walls and the inspector told us that the windows are in fact, not up to egress code because the opening itself is too small with the extra frame edge. Contacted the company, waited days for answers each time, horrible communication, not friendly, not apologetic, nothing. Told me the invoice they had didn't list any of the rooms as bedrooms so it didn't matter. I sent them multiple invoices that I had that specifically listed at least one of the double slider lift outs as in a bedroom. Then they said they didn't have to install egress if it wasn't egress before and it wasn't specified on the invoice. You will regret using them. Don't do it. read more

We had our 2 doors replaced by these clowns. The very first cold day in October they both froze up, there was ice on both sides of the both doors. We called Canadian Choice , told them we could not get out of the house, the lady said it was not their problem. It took us a half hour to chop ice. We took pictures of the ice on both doors and sent them to her. I went in the next day to their office and had a few choice words for the dumb lady manager. She showed no emotions what so ever. She slowly walk over to the service department and asked when can we send someone out to look at the doors. It took those morons 4 days to come out. The guy showed up and was very ignorate, told me not to say anything because he saw the pictures. he put extra weatherstrip around both doors and left without a word. The next cold day we had the doors froze up again. I had to get another company out. They said they were not installed proberly. We were looking to replace all the windows in our home in Calgary and picked 3 local window companies to get a quote. Calgary's Canadian Choice Windows & Doors was our first choice for a quote, largely because the company was endorsed by HGTV's Bryan Baeumler in a flyer we had received. Unfortunately we had a horrible experience with the sales person. We just want to let you know our experience so you are prepared if you choose to pick them for a quote. The initial walkthrough looking at the windows was ok. At one point he was attempting to make an emotional connection by looking at family photos and commenting. In hindsight this was really a subtle start to his old school passive/aggressive sales pitch. Throughout the interaction he told us "he liked us" and we were "good people". When we sat down to talk about the quote, he started with writing a cost at the top of a page, put a box around it, highlighted it yellow, then gave a reason why he could reduce it, crossed out that box, and made a new box, with a lower price, again highlighting the box yellow. This went on down the page to the bottom. He bragged about the amount of business he has done in sales during Covid times, and how good he was ,and he demanded we sign a deal before he left. When we said no, and explained why, he didn't care. And he was not happy about us not signing, raising his voice and asking why we wouldn't sign, "we have 10 days to cancel". We ended the sales pitch and he left, reluctantly giving us 24 hours to sign at the price he gave at the bottom of the page. We then had 2 other reputable Calgary window companies attend to provide a quote. The experience was night and day, and really highlighted how unprofessional the Calgary Canadian Choice Windows & Doors salesperson was. The other 2 companies were, in contrast, very professional, came and went in less then an hour, with the quote arriving by email about a week later. No pressure at any time. I phoned Canadian Choice Windows & Doors the day after the salesperson had been at our home, and asked how long the quote was good for. I was told 30 days. I explained our experience and she said she would have the owner call me. After several days I had not received a call from the owner, and I called back. They said again they would give the message on to the owner. I have never received a call back from the owner. Ever. This tells me that the rot in this company starts at the top. And there is more, we were talking to a neighbor over the fence about a month later and she had the same horrible experience with the same salesman. Her words were, he was high pressure, she was glad her son was with her so she wasn't alone, he wouldn't leave ,and she starting making supper and he was still not leaving. They were turned off. If you decide to have this company for a quote, make sure to have other reputable window companies attend as well for a quote. I can't speak for the product itself, but the initial impression of this company was old school pressure and emotional connection making to achieve a sale. Not impressed to say the least. My wife and I purchased windows and a new patio door for the south side of our home. Install went well enough but it wasn't until we spent some time, looking into the finer details, did we realize how poor of an install it was. I was installing a security system on my rear patio door and noticed a hairline crack in the frame that they had clearly tried to hide with white silicone. I brought it to the attention of the sales rep who had helped us and was basically redirected to the service department where I was immediately ghosted. Several pieces of the new window trim they installed had small red and green markings on them, like they were drawn in with a marker. I've spent some time now researching these windows and will be going with another supplier for the remainder of my home. The only thing Choice sells that is worth anything is the windows themselves. They don't back their product and they don't back their install. Shame. read more

We were not impressed with Canadian Choice windows. Max the sales person was more interested for us to just sign up.. We found him very pushy and not really caring about our concerns. Yes, his price was a bit lower then the company we chose but when all he kept pushing is " how do you want to pay for this " it was a turn off. Also we asked about a new balcony door and he told us it was a special order and would cost more. In truth the balcony is an average door so at this point we did not trust him so we had no faith in the company. Never use this company. At consultation it was discussed I would be keeping my custom blinds. I was responsible for removing and reinstalling them. With the new window casing my blinds don't fit! All my window coverings have to be replaced. On the day of install on a cold day in feb, the workers removed all my windows and my front door, leaving my home open to the elements and my furnace running continuously for the entire day! Kept me struggling to keep my pets safe and alive. Debris of metal, nails and insulation etc was left scattered around my home, that I spent hrs cleaning up and finding in the snow. No concern for the safety of my pets. 3 separate walls in three rooms were left gouged, scraped and damaged. Peep hole in new front door was drilled above my head, door had to be replaced. My door now sticks. Door lock was installed incorrectly and had to be removed and reinstalled by me. One worker was on personal calls the entire day, for over 7 hrs, not focused on the job. One window cracked and when they came to replace it, brought the wrong window. Arranged for the right window to be brought and installed, at that time they damaged the screen. Waited over 6 weeks for a new screen, that finally arrived after I complained yet again. The customer service of this company is insulting, I have continually had to take time off work for issues to be resolved. I paid this company in full, and I wish I had not. They have done nothing or offered nothing to compensate me, offer anything in good faith, done anything to make up for a lot of hassle and inconvenience dealing with this company.
