May not be a lot of bucks, but it costs money to put trash in the dump, so make it a lighter load. Depending on what type of metal & how much you have you might be able to pay your dump bill. It's a bit chaotic in the lot. You have to be able to follow directions from the person at the gate & the person directing traffic on the scales. The only possible downside is that it's a scrap yard so watch where you drive, your tires will be in harms way.

I had been hauling my own trash but it had become a problem so I bit the bullet to pay more that 10 TIMES what it had been costing me to have the convenience of a weekly trash service. I had some clean up to do so ordered 3 bins. It took more than a month to get bins. The route drivers even showed up a couple of times but there were no bins to pick up! All the while I was being charged. Finally we got the bins and I got refunded for some of the missed weeks. Not once, since we got the service started in April have the bins been totally emptied. I thought maybe stuff was getting wedged and wouldn't dump so I took care that things were loosely packed. But this week we had a freezer go kaputt and had to put a lot of partially frozen chicken, shrimp, etc in the trash. We put it out late so it wouldn't be too disgusting when it was picked up. When I went to bring in the bins after the trash truck left, imagine my surprise to see all 3 bins still half full. And here is the weird part: that formerly frozen food that had been in one bin? It was now spread between all 3 bins. So someone had to have put it there, right? This was Tuesday. I called the company. I even asked; was there a rule against putting food in the trash? No. I was told someone would be right back out to get it. Wednesday afternoon, no one had picked it up, I called again. They have until 8 pm. Ok. It's Thursday and it's still here and starting to get pretty ripe. I called. They have until 8 pm TOMORROW to get it picked up. I cancelled the service. The final kick in the pants? They are charging me $25 to pick up the bins. They proudly announce on their answering system that the website is eco waste S O L. Yep. S O L is about right. If you want service you are $hit outta luck.
