I've been to Campus Nails a few times before, as it is one of the more popular spots for college students. Yesterday I went in for a mani-pedi , and had the worst pedicure experience of my life. The woman who was doing my pedicure was looking all around the room, paying little attention to what she was doing. She did not say one word to me, not even to tell me when to take my feet in and out of the water, instead she used rude looks to the point that I found myself apologizing, which is ridiculous as I'm not a mind reader. She was extremely rough when shaping my nails, and when I kept flinching and asked her to be more gentle she barely said a word and continued in the same manner. On to the manicure: The lady who did my manicure did a great job. She took her time and made sure to fix a couple of spots without me having to say anything. She is the only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1. However, once again there was no conversation even though I tried to be friendly, and instead the staff talked amongst themselves loudly throughout the store. In the middle of my manicure the manager and another client got into a full on screaming match. I did not catch what the disagreement was about, but it completely ruined any positives in this ridiculous situation. People come to nail salons to relax, not to witness a Maury-style screaming match Finally, 3 hours after my pedicure I had to put on a pair of heels and give a presentation. In my experience, three hours is generally plenty of time for nail polish to dry. Apparently not this time, as my pedicure was completely ruined after putting on my shoes! Complete waste of money. My advice to management is to work HARD on your customer service. There is another nail salon not even a half a mile away from this one, and I can guarantee next time my business will go there. read more

Absolutely awful. If you enjoy a good nail job and good customer service, then don't come here. The first time I went the man doing my nails was completely distant, just wanting to get me to be done and get his money. Not caring about my experience at all. The nail job itself was adequate. The second time going was an even WORST experience. The man is talking to his friend the entire time, he doesn't ask me what length or shape I want for my nails and he puts the thinnest coat of Gel polish on that I've ever had. I had to smooth my nails down to my desired shape and size once I left AND my GEL polish CHIPPED not even 6 hours after getting them done. It may look pretty in there but it is the WORST nail salon I've ever been to. Also, If you read below, the owner comments on some of these negative reviews in the most unprofessional manner! He is arguing and trying to defend himself and his business. A good business apologizes and FIXES THE PROBLEM. The customer is always right. Ridiculous. He says "OHHH..sorry forgot" Obviously I'm mad. Then the women who does my eyebrows doesn't say ONE word and proceeds to make eyebrows uneven, barely tweezed them to fix..and doesn't even trim. WORST experience and WORST WAX I've ever received. I can deal with bad customer service (unfortunately)...but when you mess up eyebrows, there's no going back unless you want them super thin. Please do not go here if you are a student at UofSc, it's just not worth it. Overpriced for a bad job and wavy nails. I can literally see where the acrylic starts. The woman also doing my nails cut 6 out of 10 of my cuticles to the point where I was bleeding and sore for days after my visit. The last straw was that they put clear gel polish on top of sns which inevitably chipped 5 days after I got my nails done and they just look horrific for $50 nails that usually look good weeks after wear if done correctly. Wish I never spent my money and went back to Capital Nails on Assembly because they don't cut my cuticles and botch the dip application. Save your time. read more

If you're a first timer I WOULD NOT recommend. I don't get my nails done, and the time that I decided to give it a try was a disaster. I've been researching what type of nails I want, and after having decided on a liquid gel nail set called the salon, and they said they could do it. Walked in, and rather than the guy take the time to understand what I wanted he spoke to another technician and then painted to a chair. I figured something was up when they gave me the youngest girl there. And I knew it was bad when she clipped my nails straight on. I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt and thought this is just how she starts, but after she buffed my nail and then tried to apply an acrylic extension I said no. She didn't try to push my cuticles back and wasn't about to file my nails. Just go for it! I asked her to stop and asked about the liquid gel which she then told me she could not do. Sucked to have walked down for no reason. *Update in response to owner's reply* The review isn't unfair, your girl chopped my nails regardless. That's precisely why I attached photos. Even if the service wasn't able to be provided, my nails should have been taken better care of. She took the clippers and set them against the meat of my fingers. I had to go home and file them myself. And once again, this lack of communication was on y'all as well. I called before coming in. On the phone I explained that it was the extensions with gel and got a yes. I've become a regular at Campus Nails, but only because of its convenient location. The service is okay, not spectacular, but okay. The one thing I really don't like is that when you get a gel polish change/manicure, they buff your gel nail polish before soaking it with the aluminum foil. This makes your nail weak and I've have a couple instances where they were buffing it too much and it actually started to hurt so I told them to stop. I've never had any other shop do this and it's not a good practice. It's a short cut to speed up the process, but it's unhealthy for your nails. DO NOT let them do this! My friend went here and her technician buffed all the gel polish off (without soaking them) and now her nails are badly damaged. read more

My nail technician is Dan and I specifically request him because I get SNS dip powder- he does them perfectly every time. This place is awful I've been twice and both times the lady (the owner?) has messed up my nails and not cared to fix them after I asked. She continuously passed me off and said "it's okay, it's okay" not to mention she didn't just focus on my nails she was helping two other people at the same time and would take breaks from all three of us to help another. Her child runs around the spa asking to use people's phones and other stuff, constantly annoying customers. Anyway my main complaint is that this last time the lady cut me, I brought it to her attention and she looked at me like "so? It's not my problem" and kept filing my nails - she said "it happens this file is sharp" and I asked her to be more careful and she cut me again. After cutting me twice she decided to slap some polish on my acrylic nails (that aren't even) and the polish got into my cuts because she didn't even care to keep the polish on just the nails. Also when she was polishing my nails I asked her to put polish on the whole nail because she'd leave the corners of them without polish ?? And she just passed it off and said "I know " like ? Okay then fix it? She didn't - so when she was done I went to the register and she checked me out saying it was $50 for a full set with one color nothing special!!! And I questioned it and added in "you cut me and didn't fix them when I asked multiple times so why is it $50?" And she mocked me to my face !! Amazing Service! I live in NC but was visiting in Columbia, SC. I broke my nail and they repaired it in 15 minutes. I have the SNS dipping powder on my natural nails so it's difficult to find salons that carry the SNS product as well as use it accurately. Because I broke the nail I required a tip too! To repair was only $4 total. Although the shape could have been better executed, I'm very pleased. Since I visit SC often I'll be back. I walked in and Dan helped me. we picked out two colors for my ombre nail, they didn't look good so he tried another color, didn't look good. He was awesome. I was in Columbia Saturday for a wedding and desperately needed my nails done so I decided to try this place instead of my usual at home. I always get SNS dip so of course I stuck with that. Everyone was nice and patient, but the top coat started coming off of my nails yesterday. After only 2 days of having them done, they were ruined. Now today, a nail has already popped off. I have never ever had this issue with my nails being dipped. I spent $150 including the tip at this place and my nails have lasted 3 days. I went in to this salon on a recommendation of several friends. Unfortunately, I was less than impressed and will not be returning. My spa pedicure was less than basic, and my dip powder manicure was nothing. Literally nothing. She put the dip powder on and that was it. While the paint and powder look just fine my issue is with how patrons were treated... while I was there several other groups came in. During this time I heard three separate prices given for the same service, and the girls were told everything was an up-charge. They were rude and short with one specific group of girls to the point that midway through one of the services the girl told them to quit and she would go elsewhere (her bill was still upwards of $40). After I began speaking to this group of girls, every once of the tiny bit of service I was offered ceased to exist. Simply put... they're rude, talk about their patrons, and pick and choose prices based on who is asking. Above and beyond these issues, they are over priced. I won't be returning. Period. read more

Well... the man who did my nails and the lady that did my roommate's nails did not know what they were doing. We both got french tip acrylics for a frat semi. They missed so many steps and did such a bad job that it only took them 30 minutes when it usually takes an hour and a half if you do it properly. I asked my nail tech to make some changes as he did my nails because it was such a terrible job and he yelled at me and I cried... not sure why I tipped him after that but I did. My roommate's were so bad she went to Posh the next day to get them fixed. Will not be going here again... so unfortunate. Save yourself some tears and go to Posh. Also I have had them done for 5 days and they are already coming off... they usually last amount. I felt as if I was getting my nails done by my 13 year old brother. She was out so she recommended me to Dan, I get there and let him know what service I need (crack nail) he proceeds to say he doesn't see a crack but I'm pointing at it. I sit in his chair he goes to say he doesn't see the color she used. So I suggested to just take both index finger nails off and use a different ombre. he then says he don't have that color! UNLIKE THE LIAR BELOW - I PAID THE $40 for my HORRIBLE UNEVENLY FILED NAILS. that didn't match the color sample. I came because it was close to my house, but I will NEVER again... notice he takes no responsibility for the crappy job that was done. His wife was the one yelling at me in broken english, I merely defended myself in a talking tone in response. The infection was in March as stated previously, he didn't even read the entire review before trying to clap back. -- Being nail techs pays your bills then the quality of work should be improved upon as well as the lack of importance placed on customer service, I read several other reviews that stated how absolutely rude your employees are. They stay on their phones the entire time, don't speak to you, and continuously rush through everything. ABSOLUTELY THE RUDEST SALON, I have ever been to. I have kept my nails done for years and decided to get dip powder today ( I normally get pink & white), I mentioned to the nail tech when she was finished that the color did not match the sample swatch. She immediately began talking loudly in a foreign language toother coworkers & in front of other customers. Next, her boss I suppose approaches me and begins yelling at me. I stated that the color did not match and she had filed multiple nails unevenly as well as below the quick (my nails are now in this terrible smushed square shape for an upcoming wedding this weekend). I stated I'm not paying for a service that was not carried out as promised, the manager threatened me while yelling that if I did not pay the $40 then she would call the police. After stating they could finish because I am an upstanding person that doesn't want drama, the manager asked what fingers I would wanted tips on to add length to the horribly short nails and when I told her she said "You pay extra $5 dollars." At this point I was FED UP to say the least and said just finish the nails, I'm ready to leave and you can rest assured I won't be back. The manager, took NO fault and made her employee assume absolutely no responsibility for a job NOT done well. Not to mention, I had my nails done at this same establishment in March & received a terrible nail infection that required antibiotics. I have maybe been back once since then (due to the proximity to my home) and they were still rude just not as bad. I mentioned this to the manager and she stated the infection was from having "short nails." I told her I believed it was from unclean utensils as today I paid close attention after moving to let my nails dry & they did not clean nor change their filing tools (I am so grossed out as I am typing this). I am looking into reporting the nail infection to DHEC to prevent complications for others in the future. Bottom line: SAVE YOURSELF THE TIME, MONEY, AND RESPECT... get your nails done somewhere that treats you like a customer and cares about cleanliness, a job well done, and customer satisfaction. I'm very disappointed at the service I received. I came here for a pedicure. The lady that assisted me was busy talking to her coworker next to her and then took a call while doing my pedicure. Very unprofessional to say the least. She clipped two or three nails, took care of my cuticles and did a half of a massage job. The lady pushed my feet aside, cleaned up and walked away. As I sat there, she walked by and waved goodbye. I was not aware that she was done until that point. I went here for the first time a week and a half ago and got a pedicure and a full set of the SNS dip powder nails that change color with the temperature, pretty cool. I got them in a green color since st.pats was only 2 weeks away. Upon finishing them I was pleased, they looked great but less than 4 days later I had 4 of them break and chip off big chunks at the corners, within a couple more days I had 60% of them pop off completely!! I am not new to the dip powder, I've been getting my nails done this way for YEARS, and they usually last me at least a month. They do look grown out after a month but they are always intact and still attached to my nails. I was so pissed that I spent $80+ (nails and pedicure + tip) to have to go get them completely redone a week and a half later. I go here everytime I get my dip polish done because it lasts the longest compared to other places. But it's just NOT worth it. Yesterday a guy did my nails AWFULLY. went so fast and it looked TERRIBLE. at the end I said something about it and was told it was my fault that I chose too light of a color even though I get the same color EVERYTIME I go. The guy didn't even shape my nails the same way. Some were rounded and some were squared. And apparently it was my fault since I didn't say anything even though HE NEVER ASKED. I could see my nails through the polish on both my fingers and toes. TERRIBLE customer service. What happened to the customer is always right?
