The tent is BY FAR the least expensive hostel in the city, and equally unique. For backpackers with their own tent, there is a small yard which was populated by 50 or so other tents at the time of my visit. Essentially, you are stacked up with a few feet between yourself and your neighbors. Also offered is space in the large communal tent, which is filled with squeaky bunks, and equally squeaky lockers. (bring your own lock.) There are somewhat clean (by american standards) showers and restrooms, bike rentals, wifi, good cheap food, a fire pit with communal seating, and a very friendly staff. If you are used to roughing it, love to meet people, or just can't bear to be far from Nymphenburg Palace than this is a spot you should check out. Follow the signs from the street car to the end of Franz Schrank Strasse, then go left up the path.

You can stay in one of the two massive circus-style tents depending on how much you want to pay. In one tent, you doss down on the floor (with as many blankets from reception as you want) and in the other, you can pay a little more and have bunk beds. There's also a small space to take your own tent (which is what we did). The bar is the main focus of the site and it's like it's been lifted from a tropical beach. Hammocks and benches nestle amongst the trees making this a perfect place to chill out (which was good, seeing as it was about 40 degrees every day while we were there!) Pastries, meats and cheeses are sold from the bar at breakfast and you can get an evening meal for around 3e. 0.5l bottles of beer were 1.80e making this a fairly cheap place to hang out. The showers and toilets were cleaned every day and there's also a guest kitchen with gas burners and cutlery so you can wander 15 minutes up the road to Lidl and fetch your own food if you're on a tight budget. It's about a 5 minute walk to the tram stop where it's a 15 minute journey on the S-bahn into Munich centre. There's not much to do in Munich itself, but we'll definitely be back at The Tent to relax.

Duh....that creepy licoricey syrup of an alcohol ingested to create blurred memories and awesome times.....just like what happened during my stay here. And the kicker?....they give you a welcome shot of Jager upon your arrival. How AWESOME is that? In a rather clean and convenient location of Munich, this hostel, amongst the rest, provides a great resting stop for people coming and leaving Munich.....or in my case, coming and leaving Oktoberfest. And I mean literally mean it. We checked out at the moment between coming back from Oktoberfest and heading to our train within 30 mins. It's 1 block from the HBF train which is super convenient, and 1/2 block from some nice food stops, one of which at the corner serves Doner Kebab which I still look back to wishing I had just one more taste of. It was the perfect spot to be for Oktoberfest since at 9am sharp, we were able to see the people dressed up and heading towards the park. The room we stayed in was practically like a hotel room with our own bathroom and shower. The shower and facilities are also very accommodating and beds relatively comfortable. Tips: -They have lockers for you to use throughout the day but charge 1 Euro for renting locks. -They have free internet, except it only works in the lobby most of the time -They have breakfast buffet at a cost but the food is just eggs and waffles (better than some other places) and nothing with nothing of German origin

My friends and I booked a ten bed co-Ed room with 5 bunks, shared bathroom with toilet, shower, and heated rack. Everyone has a locker to store our stuff without locks but you can use your own lock. When we walked in, a cleaning person was remaking the beds with fresh sheets and cleaned the bathroom. Free wifi with same user and password. Love the decor, clean, tidy, and great location, close to the train. All you can eat breakfast for 8euros. Laundry machines on site. Cons: * Rooms are super hot and no fans so it was hard to sleep in the summer * The bunk beds and lockers are made of metal so any little movement makes a lot of noise * there's not a lot of room on the bottom bunk to sit up or hang any towels or clothes to dry * The shower doors didn't seal all the way so the bathroom floors got super wet whenever I showered * blow dryer is not provided

We stayed during Oktoberfest, and found it very convenient. It's a random assortment of guests. The rooms are small but comfortably fit two people with large suitcases who made many purchases. The windows open at the top so you can get very nice circulation. There's only 3 floors, including the ground floor. Breakfast can be reserved for 8.5€ the night prior. The carpet is very utilitarian and doesn't feel great on bare feet. Water pressure could be better but it's Europe. There's plenty of hooks throughout the room. No usb outlets. The hallway has a very strange smell that I can't place, and I wasn't a fan of it. However, the room smells fine.

It is similar to the Residence Inns in the US where there is a kitchen area. There is a grocery store in the ground floor of the building. The only thing is it is closed on Sundays. The breakfast selection is decent and was included in the price we paid. The train station is within walking distance so that is certainly convenient. Staff is multilingual and we found them to all be accommodating. The cons: if you plan on walking to the city center, you may find it to be far. If you arrive kind of late for check-in, you may find it tedious to go up the stairs since you won't have a key card yet. I suggest having someone watch your luggages while you check in, if possible. I recommend getting the single day pass (€9.70) or if you're staying for more than 3 days, it might be more economical to consider the week pass (€22.40). The pass is activated if you purchase it online through the MVGo app. It works for the bus, tram and trains and it's pretty easy to figure out from the app.
