I just finished the winter reading challenge and got a free mug and tote bag, which was such a fun bonus. They always seem to have something engaging going on. This library is a gem!

My professors are behind me every step of the way, whether that be in research, filling in my knowledge gaps, or simply a ear to listen. The Psychology department is outstanding & has helped me gain internships every summer for the last 2 years, one in Ohio & one in New York. The opportunities I have at this school are unmatched to what I was offered at Louisville. I feel I know all of my professors personally. Smaller class sizes allow for a student based discussion approach rather than pushing curriculum. I can ask questions through lecture & I feel professors take time to throughly answer them to the best of their ability, ensuring I understand what is being explained to me. Whether it be extra study materials, additional office hours, or impromptu to drop ins my professors are always available to me. I find this the most valuable aspect of my time here at NKU. We have an extensive library, with study rooms, quiet floors, as well as social floors. The library as has an Einstein's Bagel which has coffee, bagels, sandwiches, pastries, etc. The rec center is state of the art with many classes for guided fitness goals, a huge pool (they even have lifeguarding as a class!), a hot tub, a sauna, basketball courts, racket ball courts, a bouldering wall, and an indoor track ! The biggest short coming of the university , hands down is parking. Other than that I love my school. #NorseUp

They also have the means to help and make people beg just to tell them basically you have to be spending money in that semester to get assistance to come back. I had Javance Sinclair tell me basically oh well you might go homeless if you make it to next semester then I might help you. You'll have to beg again though. I was looking to continue education with these people after my bachelors but I wouldn't dare. This school is sad. Charge all this money and can't help the people that ask for help.

Library had ample parking for the library patrons and people using the meeting room. Meeting room is clean. Whiteboards, corkboards, outlets, and a tv are available for use. There are also chairs and tables. Library itself was quiet and clean. As of this review, masks are required. Drop box is available so books may be dropped off without exiting your car.

With COVID-19, the Cincinnati Public Library system is working hard to continue to provide services to the community. At this location some of these services include Zoom programs, grab and go craft kits for kids, and ordering books ahead of time. Small parking lot. There is only one way in, and one way out. Several of the parking spots are now designated for the pick-up of orders only. If you are unable to find a parking space, it may be difficult to circle back around. With time limits now being set for how long people may visit the library branches, (to keep numbers down, while allowing the most people to visit,) parking isn't as hard as it once was.

Here are my pros and cons: PROS -- fairly nice on the inside -- plenty of windows -- great study rooms -- lots of seating and tables around the building -- upstairs quiet area in the local history/genealogy for studying -- plenty of parking -- kind staff -- has security/local police on-site -- offers lots of resources and events for kids and families -- the staff has been doing a better job with ensuring that sketchy people stay out of the teen and kid areas CONS -- not the greatest location -- usually busy with quite a few sketchy people (my female friends don't like being alone here and I would not ever leave a child unsupervised here) -- cleaning needs to be increased a bit. Our family has hosted two graduation parties at Anderson Center in the past year. Most recently,…read morethe party was in the lower atrium. It was spacious, set up well so that guests could feel connection, and being close to the outdoor area allowed for a gorgeous view. The staff were friendly and helpful and the reservation process was easy and detailed. The only tricky part was the parking overflow was needed, however we were warned prior about the building having several events that day. The overflow parking actually lead directly to the lower atrium though, so the crowded lot in the front worked out for the guests to see the beautiful water view on their way in to the lower atrium. All and all, it was another wonderful event and we plan to book future events there. We appreciate having this gorgeous setting so close to home!

I use to enjoy going to this library, because it was quiet and I didn't have to worry about being…read morebothered by the staff. After yesterday, I don't feel safe there at this branch any more. I was using the study room to work on some research that I was doing for something that I'm currently working on for myself, (which the room is free, if it is available/not reserved when you want to use it). When I came out of the study room, because I had a library book that I was done using and wanted to return it back to the library. As I was walking over to where you can return books, these two guys (one of which I know works at a different branch of the county library system) and another guy talked to me in such a way that I felt like they were mocking me or even making fun of me for using the study room at all. It wasn't like I was disturbing anybody while I was using the study room at all -- I just needed a bigger table to work at, (because I wanted more space to use both my lap top AND my large binders, due to me doing some research and having hard copies that take up some space on a table). The way that the second guy was asking me how I enjoyed using the study room, I took it to mean that he wanted me to immediately get out of the room and out of the building entirely, which I came right out and asked him if that was what he was implying to me. The guy responded that he didn't want me to leave, but where he and the other guy were laughing at me for being in the study room and quietly working on my research in there, it made me feel unsafe and unwelcome. I quickly cleaned up my stuff from inside the study room shortly thereafter and left to head home, feeling quite unhappy and almost violated by those two guys.

However, ever since I started following Art Equals on social media, I discovered that there are events open to public inside the Hellman Creative Center. It's not just Artist Studios, as the sign would suggest. And, as it turns out, I am a big fan! Open, inviting, and clean, the inside of this historic building has been beautifully renovated. There is a large meeting/conference room just off the lobby. Beyond that, there are artists' studios and a small kitchenette. I attended a Zine Lab with Art Equals and had a fantastic time learning about Zines and creating one of my one. Stop by and take part in this excellent addition to the art scene in Covington.

This building was originally a sawmill and has been beautifully redesigned as a community space, spot for artists, and people who do good in the community (refugee settlement, help with taxes, cross-cultural training, learning how to respond to conflict, etc.). My favorite space, besides the community rooms, is Empower Tools. This is a free service for those with a Kenton County library card. An individual can rent tools for their art, lawn, home repair, moving supplies, or pruning needs. You have up to 3 tools for a week, without the need to maintain them. Perfect for someone like me who struggles with all the oils and fine tuning of home equipment!
