I absolutely love camp Winaka it's such a fun and exciting place. I'm an adventurous girl and I love that they have a high ropes course for older girls and low ropes for younger both are really fun. There is a specific counselor that I miss every year and I go back because of her. Overall the bond you create counselor to camper is just so great I just love camp winaka so much and can't wait to go back this summer. read more

Literally the best place on earth my daughter has been going since she was in second grade, 12/10 would recommend. Has the best counselors and food, the camp director is also the nicest person to ever grace our good earth (otter). If you're a parent definitely send your daughter here regardless of if shes a girl scout or not. read more

A bit disappointed in this camp. Sent my 13-year-old for a week of resident camp. My daughter has medical issues, and no one called me to assure me that she was fine. Did not get a phone call all week. Also, my daughter was unhappy with the activities. We sent her to summer camp, but she spent several hours reading in her cottage during the day! One counselor asked her cabin to run laps to burn off energy! Really? They are at camp! The parent handbook advised us to send a bathing suit and towel, but my 13 year old daughter reported that "older "kids were not allowed to use the pool because too many little kids needed it. It was in the 90s all week in Julian, and her cabin did not go swimming even once. Her camp was supposed to be an arts camp, and the brochure claimed that she would be making a portfolio that she could take home, but she reports that they did drawing and dance, no painting or any other type of art at all! The handbook also mentioned that 50% of her time would be spent be doing art, and 50% having traditional camping experiences, but neither seemed to happen. Last year was my first time at Camp Winacka after I successfully reach my goal of 525 Girl Scout cookies sold, and I have to say it was a pretty wonderful experience. There was a little issues the first day getting there with a specific counselor but we solved the problem and everything was fine. Camp Winacka's counselors and staff are so inviting and nice there and treat everyone as if we were all family. After every meal we would sing girl scout songs and get it bond with each other with the activities and every meal. The activities and very fun for every aged camper and the food is delicious! They have vegan and gluten options for campers who are gluten or vegan which I thought was amazing! The only issue are bugs. I understand that we are in the middle of the woods and there are a lot of bugs and creatures but you definitely want to bring bug spray/ lotion and definitely tick spray. My first day I cousins sleep because I found ticks on my bed, which was gross. The cool thing about being in the middle of the woods with about of animals and creatures is that you wake up every morning to deers, frogs, birds, and way more! Overall I loved my experience at Camp Winacka and I would definitely suggest it. read more
