My daughter was given hot chocolate from one of the staff and suffered second degree burns on her tongue. They denied her request to call her mother and didn't give proper medical treatment. A counselor had to sneak her ibuprofen from her bag because they refused to offer pain relief. I was never notified of the incident until she told me at pick up A WEEK LATER. Thanks shamineau. You made her first experience at camp a traumatic nightmare. read more

I have never been to Camp Shamineau. I have however been to Rockridge Camp about five times. Rockridge is their sister camp near Ely, Mn. Aptly named, it is run by a strong Christian man by the name of Chad. He, and his staff, are some of the friendliest, hard-working, and most accommodating people you will ever meet. I am overjoyed to see that the organization is investing in Rockridge. It is a diamond in the rough and I hope and pray that it will have a long prosperous future. Our youth deserve that. Thanks Chad, Desiree, and staff. Hope to see you next year!!! God Bless. Dave Hafner and the Boys from the Sampson Society (a Christian Men's Club) read more

Camp Shamineau is the best part of my year every single year, I have met so many amazing people and lerned so much about myself and God throughout my experiences! I go twice every summer and absolutely love it! You learn so much about Jesus through Worship, Bible study's, and speakers! The staff are amazing and are some of the sweetest people i've ever met! I am 13 and have been going since I was 9, I recently signed up for S.W.A.T. (there volunteering program) and am just so thankful that i have got the experience to go to camp! I would 10000000% recommend camp!!! read more

Everyone else at camp was so sweet and kind except for the health office. They were so rude to me and laughed at me for being sick. Their names were Lucy and Nicole I do not appreciate their behavior. It was the worst experience I ever had for a health office and they didn't help any of my cabin when we were all sick and just gave us ibuprofen and like everything is fine. one of the cabin dances cabin was sick and only a few of dance and they cut off half the points because not everyone was there even though they didn't do anything to help us feel better. When I spend my money there, I wanna be able to be treated with respect when I don't feel good not like it's a joke. read more

Absolutely wonderful Christ centered camp. Well run, safe, outdoors and growth focused. All three of our children have attended as campers and eventually worked there as support staff. And all three have been changed forever because of their experiences there. Great place to send your kids to build their faith and confidence as individuals. read more

A little late on this review but here it is...Attended their mother-daughter retreat for years. Nothing but positive experiences. BUT, then my teen daughter volunteered on the ranch giving trail rides one summer and everything changed. Horrible experience for her. She has sever asthma that I clearly denoted on the health forms yet she was scolded when she was having difficulties breathing in the 90 degree heat while loading bails of hay. She could have died from an asthma attack...simply wasn't taken seriously. Communication regarding this role was poor at best. They favor the home schooled kids for sure. Found out she could get paid for this position but training occurs during the school year for public school kids...hard for those that aren't homeschooled and live 3 hours away. I tried to work something out to cover the material at home on weekends and then they could review with her but that was a no go for them. There's a reason why I no longer call myself a Christian...a follower of Jesus Christ for sure but won't associate myself with people who claim to be Christians but lack grace. read more

First of all, Let me start off by saying this camp sounded pretty great for my two preteens and my teen. Our family enjoys checking out new overnight camps, so when we discovered camp shamineau we were hooked. months latter I dropped of my kids who all seemed really excited for this new camp. From the smiles and goodbyes I was confident that they were going to have fun, just like all the rest of the camps. The next week when I picked them up the mood had entirely switched. my 11 year old son was complaining about foul language and disrespect, and my other son was SKIPPING MEALS due to how awful the food was. As both of my sons and even my oldest daughter all agreed on how poor the foods were I was extremely dissatisfied. As a mother of four I just could not handle the fact that my children were so uncomfortable and sick over the food they served. My children arent genrally picky when it comes to food, of course my 11 year old son is very attached to my husbands cooking, It did not cross my mind whatsoever that they would rather eat nothing than the food they served. Extremely dissapointed especially for the money I paid. I dislike comparing other camps because they all have their way of doing things but with the extra hundred dollars at trout, qualit's meals and a fully belly should be one of the highest priorities. If you are okay with your children eating chicken nuggets a that BOUNCE and dry sugary muffins that have no sustenance this camp is for you. The only thing my three teens agreed upon that was good was the camp activities. There are way better overnight camps to visit that still worship the lord and provide qualit's accommodations for the money you pay for. read more
