Camp Nokomis is a WONDERFUL experience! I was born into the system (my father was a counselor at Lawrence), but that does not influence my opinion about the camp. Girls are taught life lessons that they carry with them, hopefully, for years to come. Girls can learn many talents, from archery to drama to sailing to many different crafts. Those girls who are homesick learn to live with a group of other girls as well as a couple of grown-ups who help them assimilate into an environment that welcomes adversity. Spending 2-8 weeks with strangers who become great friends is the best experience that any girl can have. I whole-heartedly recommend sending your daughters to Camp Nokomis to experience life with no outside influences (peer pressure) to distract them. I don't know what to say about Camp Nokomis that is bad all thoughts in my head are going "magic, fun, friends, hope, education, action, creativity and good vibes" if I could relive every second of my 1st day I would be happy with the food and care. I can see why this camp is known internationaly and has a book written about it. it made my life 100,000,000,000 times better and if you think the food at camp will bounce 5 ft high if you drop it well you are W-R-O-N-G . at Camp Nokomis they take allergy care and medicine seriously if your like me and is allergic to artificial flavors and colors you'll get a CHIPWICH wich tasts AWESOME. so go to Camp Nokomis with this in mind read more

This is a place we all dream about. My 23 year old daughter still tell Nokomis stories and sings Nokomis songs (great songbook).My oldest grand daughter goes every year to Nokomis as does her cousins (who now live in Singapore). They love it so much a half a dozen of their friends from around the world now come to this fun camp (I think 10 in all)This is a real camp, not a "learn the French Horn or learn to watch birds" type of camp which seems to be the current fad.
