As a former foster youth navigating the difficult transition into independent adulthood, I have experienced firsthand how critical consistent support systems are. Nicasa does not simply provide services they provide restoration, accountability, and dignity. The professionalism and compassion demonstrated by the staff, particularly Ms. Darlene Jones and Ms. Sindy, have made a measurable difference in my personal and academic progress. Their guidance has helped me maintain stable housing, secure and manage essential life documentation such as my driver's license, and remain focused on completing my Associate in Arts degree. They support both large milestones and the daily responsibilities that build long-term independence. What distinguishes Nicasa is their holistic approach. They recognize that behavioral health, housing stability, educational advancement, and professional readiness are interconnected. Even small gestures--such as assisting with professional attire--reflect a deep understanding that empowerment requires both practical tools and encouragement. The leadership of the organization is clearly reflected in the integrity and consistency of its staff. For individuals transitioning from foster care or facing systemic barriers, Nicasa provides more than assistance it provides partnership. I am sincerely grateful for the role Nicasa has played in my development, and I highly recommend their services to anyone seeking structured, compassionate, and accountable support.

On Monday, 15 December I visited the Goodwill store in Round Lake Beach, Illinois (Store #088)…read more My visit was pleasant and uneventful...until I went to pay for my items. Employee #180709 performed in what I can only describe as an appallingly rude, discourteous, and unprofessional manner. Employee #180709 did not greet me, did not respond to my greeting, did not speak to me; he simply stood there glaring at me and then handed me the receipt without a word. Employee #180709 presented an attitude of disgust and disdain for my custom, and behaved as though my presence there was offensive. I don't know what I did to warrant this behaviour; I stood in the line quietly, waiting for my turn (there was only one cashier available at 11am), and then greeting him in a friendly manner. Employee #180709 appeared to 'glare' at me as though my presence was an offence to him. Employee #180709 behaved in what I perceived as a bigoted, racially-biased manner, which made my visit there thoroughly unpleasant and made me feel unwelcome. I am very disappointed, disgusted, and displeased by the behaviour of Employee #180709 and do not recommend him or this store to anyone.

They say they appreciate honesty but you get in trouble for being honest. The HR Chuck would lie to you about why he needs to see you. Even had his stepdaughter lie about his sexuality. After a visit to their location…read moreyesterday I realize that the concern is much bigger than the Pioneer Center has control over. I specifically went in there because I could not get through to them via phone. My goal was to obtain my daughters psychiatric records so that I could provide them to her new psychiatrist. I happened to stand in line behind a mother with her son going through the same turmoil and confusion I had experienced there. Come to find out that the center is closing due to lack of funding . Shame on this state and the corrupt, dishonest, negligent government and their beneficiaries. I'm from Colorado. Taxes on my house for one year= $900. Here......$3500!!! Where is all this money going???? If this state is all you know...do yourself a favor and try another!! God bless those poor ladies at the front desk for having to deal with upset parents such as myself who don't understand and point the finger at the wrong person.
