I was a camper more than 20 years ago. A counselor from the adjoining bunk came back drunk from her night off and slept in my bed with me. I don't remember what happened during the night, but by the morning she was fired. I'm sure the camp is fine now, but it may be worth asking about how they vet counselors. read more

This was our daughter's second year attending Camp Eagle Hill. She has made the most amazing memories at this camp! The staff is amazing! We used this camp for an Adult Retreat for an overnight stay. We were unable to use our room to sleep in due to the smell and the bedding being in such poor condition. Rooms were 'finished' in particle board - one of our group got a serious splinter from one of the walls. If it rains during your stay, please know that the dark wooden stairs leading to the sleeping quarters become very slick when wet and are not safety marked or covered with a tread/rubber. I slipped on a stair as I lost my footing on a wet, crooked staircase and got a painful injury to my left shin. The food was awful. Several in our company couldn't eat, and I was sick from it the next morning. The drinking water was not clear in color. The grounds are pretty (although distinct and maintained pathways across the grass would have been very helpful, particularly for wet weather) and the young people that made up the attending staff were friendly and helpful. The kitchen did prepare food our group brought in for special needs, but unfortunately did not announce the vegetarian food items so some of our group missed part of their meal. Go carts, pool were well maintained and staffed. Unfortunately the microphone/sound system we received to use during our presentations was delivering such strong feedback that our speakers had to abandon it and the same microphone set-up caused a lot of trouble for the karaoke that we had pre-arranged for an evening activity. Communication could have been much better during planning and execution and we were really disappointed in some of our dealings with management. read more

Our almost 6 year old daughter absolutely LOVES Camp Eagle Hill! She adores all the counselors, has made new friends & comes home happy & exhausted each day. She's also a city kid living in the country for the summer and has finally learned to swim! This has been a struggle for us and we are SO relieved. The camp is reasonably priced for day camp, especially for all the extras they have. Our daughter does pottery, archery, swimming, plays soccer, sports & more. I know they have a zipline and gocarts for the older kids as well. The facilities are beautiful & well kept and all the staff is lovely. read more

As a specialized employee, you are treated like a servant. Yes this is seasonal work which allows employers to expect you are flexible. However, the demands were excessive. I was not hired to be an extra pair of eyes or clean up and participate ever single night at events. Nor to stay up standing guard a few nights a week. I was the pottery instructor. I taught hand building and the wheel at the same time, without assistance to 8-10 children, including 5 yr olds. When I left after a month, the owner made an inappropriate age discrimination insult to me. For kids this was a wonderful place. However all the staff I talked to felt mislead by employer and taken advantage of. He hires from England and other countries, holding their passports. They felt obliged to comply. I left because the food was awful (I lost 7 #'s in 4 weeks) and the expectations were not appropriate to my title. read more

Our daughter Ellie is having a great time at camp this year. She's excited to go in every day and do fun camp stuff, and they are working on teaching her to swim - which has been terrifically helpful. I can't speak to working conditions of the counselors, as things are even more spaced out than usual this year due to covid, but everyone seems happy and treated well at pick up and drop off. Look forward to returning in future years, where hopefully Ellie's younger sister will also join her. Feels like a place where kids can be (happy, low stress) kids. read more

The individualized attention from the quality instructors, counselors and the friends you make are the main positives of this place. Since this is a small camp, you better be good at making friends fast and complying with some strict camp rules or it will be a long summer. The program is average; the director has cancelled some expensive or even the basic trips due to the smallest drops of rain. Speaking of rain, you will be stuck doing the same activities over again. The facilities need some updates, especially the Old Pool with its "green algae." The food was adequate with a salad bar and PBJ for healthy conscious and picky eaters. read more

I have gone camp eagle hill for 6 years now. If you want an honest opinion it is amazing counselors come from all over the world. The campers I have met are amazing. The staff is mostly made up of former campers so they know if what you are doing is fun! The trips are some of the most exciting and the activities are endless, but why really makes Camp Eagle Hill a magical place is the passion in the people who call it home. You become part of a family. Camp takes away your phone if you sleep away yet you don't miss it. You might not believe it. Everything from give it to me one time to tribals. Jesse (the owner) knows every campers name, story and skills, he's dancing in the talent shows and singing birthday songs at dinner. I worked at CEH summer 2010, it was the 3rd sleep away camp I've worked. Of those three and the 2 day camps I've worked for, Camp Eagle Hill was the most incredible. I was only there for a summer, but it's not a place to go and forget; more than a memorable summer, you also gain a forever family. Counselors, campers and staff come from all over the globe, and the differences are embraced. It's not a place pushed by money, the owner knows every campers name, story and skills, he's dancing in the talent shows and singing birthday songs at dinner. They're also very considerate of individuals' dietary needs, I loved the vegetarian options, and now gluten free! The staff is mostly made up of former campers, some after decades! It really is a remarkable place. The trips are exciting and the activities are endless, but why really makes Camp Eagle Hill a magical place is the passion in the people who call it home. Truly, an amazing experience and I really miss it! If I were considering sending my child away for summer camp, I would want to know that he or she was safe, surrounded by friends, and spending the summer having the time of his or her life. I've been to the camp a few times. This past time, however, was the worst! The food was tolerable on the first and last day of the week. However, the rest of the week, the food was terrible! We were with a group and something was making many people sick; we suspected it was the water because even the silverware stunk. In the beginning of the week, some of the water had a very funky color. After that, people were spending a lot of time in the bathroom. By the end of our stay, we realized we couldn't even use the water for brushing our teeth. The views in the camp are nice, but the inside of the cabins need serious maintenance and updating. read more
