I saw a belt that I liked within second of going in the store. Holding the belt, I asked the sales person if he had additional sizes. His dismissively replied "no hablo Ingles" and it was clear he had no interest in helping. I was quite surprised for a store of that quality and in that part of the city not to have someone who did not speak a word on English or did not try to help. That was not my experience in other stores in Buenos Aires at all.

The other is mostly purses and satchels for women. Almost all of the products are leather and in a multitude of pastel colors. The designs are so cool with seamless mix of retro and modern. Lots of attention to detail too. The soles of the shoes for example either have a molded design of Argentina or human metatarsals I think this is a stand-alone design house because when I asked, I was told this was the only place in the world to get these shoes. And boy was I ready to buy except... the entire block was out of electricity and I didn't have time before my flight to get cash. I didn't see anything in either store that I did not like a lot. So cool. I'll be back before Christmas. They don't have a website and their facebook page does not do them justice. https://www.facebook.com/TaconesLejanosArgentina/info

I'm pleased I did because I bought a pair of trainers which are so cool I can't believe I was lucky enough to spot them and make a purchase. They weren't cheap but if they were, they wouldn't be so well made and are leather inside as well as out. I'm reluctant to wear them because they are so nice but when I do, people will ask me where I got them. I will take pleasure in telling them to go to BA and get a pair. Not so easy from the UK! I can't find a website where I could look for another pair, suppose I could pick up the 'phone.

Unfortunately I wasted the first 2 days going to all of the retail leather shops thinking I would find what I was looking for off the rack. At first blush, everything I saw "looked good" but the closer I looked, the more I would noticed the poor workmanship.... I finally took the time to do some research online and after reading great reviews, I found Bettina Rizzi. They stayed open a little later for me that same evening and I got lucky and they had a bomber style leather jacket that was almost exactly what I had in mind. In less than 48 hours, they made the needed alterations, changed the inner lining and wow....it was perfect. I am planning a return trip with my mother and daughter and want them both to get fitted for customer leather coats / jackets.
