My wife and I started with this Vet clinic in 2021 right after we first moved tro Eldorado in Santa Fe New Mexico. Had 2 horse visits that we hauled horses to them and had negative results. We switched Vets to Ashley Sancez and had wonderful results. Today we called because we have a horse with a mouth issue and cannot eat. Our Regular Vet Ashley Sanchez is out of town, and we needed some help with our Horse Bentley, a retired racehorse 30 years old. My wife called the Vet and the first person she spoke with asked if we could trailer him, which we said we could. We were told the scheduler would call us back. The scheduler, "Wendy", called us back and said that they had not seen Bentley since 2021 and that we should call our personal vet since he had not been seen by them in so long. My wife told the scheduler "Wendy", that our Vet was out of town. Wendy said they could see him maybe, in a few weeks This is just not right. I would never refer a friend to this Vet for anything. Best thing you could do is fire the scheduler. There is not a debate when people call for care for their animals and that scheduler should have never said what she said. What difference does it make that the horse had not been to them since 2021 he was not sick since then. So, I plan on going on Google and Facebook and as many social media sites I can find and do more negative reviews about this place. No one that needs emergent care for their animal should be treated like this. I am an EMT, and I do not treat my patients this way. I would lose my license if I did. Friendly and helpful as long as you plan ahead and don't have an emergency. Negatives: expensive, always busy, and rude when they let you down. My dog has had three emergency bleeding situations. The first was because of a growth, and despite treating him numerous times, they took my money and never fix the problem. Had hey simply removed the growth when they did his dental cleaning since he was already under anesthesia, we could've mitigated the repeated bleeding They didn't and I continue to deal with difficult bleeding situations on his chest. The second bleeding situation is in his eye again from a growth. I called them and they didn't help me and I held him for hours as he bled from his eyelid. The third was when he cut his foot open and I couldn't stop the bleeding. Not only did they tell me that they didn't have a space for me to bring him in, but then left me a nasty voicemail telling me I can't come back again because I hung up on them. Untrue. They left me on hold for more than 10 minutes , and I had to find an Emergency Vet. Since they could not help me again-for the third time-I had no intention on going there again. Not being able to handle emergencies is one thing, but putting off a client that spent thousands with them, and following up by leaving a rude voicemail saying they'll never see you again seems both unethical and extremely rude. So, no worries, Cameron, I had no intention of ever going back to you again. You let me and my senior down too many times. and the number of rude comments you write on yelp to people who complain about you is very telling about the kind of doctor you are.....top down behavior. read more

Stay away!!! Drive from taos with 4 dogs who have been clients. A client next to me starts staring into my car because my dogs are barking. I have a mask and glasses on abd windows rolled up. She keeps glaring at me while her dog sits on hot pavement. I roll down the window and ask if I can help her with something abd that her staring is not welcome. She just keeps staring. I tell her that if she comes closer to my car I'm calling the police. She goes into the vet and tells them " I said a cuss word to her". I swear on my children's life I did not. Then the towering male vet abd another woman come out and start intimidating me and accusing me of cussing at their client. I said I never did that and that she was uncomfortably staring at me and my car and would not stop. They said they have known her forever so they believe her. I said that's discriminatory they said go find somo where else to service your dogs. The male vet made it very clear he was trying to physically Intimidate me by his stance. I'm a small woman. Run fast if you even contemplate taking your animals here. They favor and apprarently take the word of their long standing clients and if you aren't one they will treat you poorly. Run. I'm reporting them to the veterinary board for failure to vaccinate my animals which is now causing them not to be able to board and I cannot have surgery that I had scheduled for a tumor on my liver. read more

I like the vet Dr. Cameron--he has been nice to me and my pets in past visits. But the front desk staff is rude and mean. I wanted to have my cat seen recently (she had a scratch on her leg) but since they had not seen her in a few years, like three years I think, they wouldn't see her, which I understand was due to them having too many clients. Ok, fine I can understand that reasoning. But then to be rudely accused that I wasn't taking care of my pets (I have a dog too) because I wasn't bringing them for checkups was so out of line and unprofessional. And to escalate so quickly to impoliteness was mean and harsh. Such a view could have been presented in a kinder way, but that doesn't seem to be the personality that runs the front desk. We care deeply for our pets, but financially we can't afford for them to come to annual visits. We love them, we take care of them, and they have a healthy home. We have been taking our basenji's to Dr. Cameron for over 20 years. He is a caring and compassionate doctor. All of our dogs enjoyed seeing him. Spritzer would run into the building, she liked Dr. Cameron so much. He listens to the dogs and us and proceeds accordingly. Dr. Cameron always makes time for his clients, but sometimes you have to wait. He is one doctor for a customer base that runs the gamut from cats to dogs and horses to llamas. During Covid-19, Dr. Cameron and his staff kept us apprised of the steps they were taking to keep us safe via email. After just moving to Eldorado our cat suddenly showed signs of some respiratory illness. She was otherwise still functioning. Since this clinic seemed to be highly recommended, we brought her in for a diagnosis. After 2 hours and several procedures (blood work, x-rays, etc) the doctor suggested we get her an antibiotic shot and a cortisone shot. He said to bring her back in two days for re-check or bring her to Albuquerque for further tests. She violently, and in much pain died before we got her home. read more

Receptionists are rude and condescending There are fewer times when someone can be more stressed than when someone they love is sick or in a vulnerable situation. You think that would be understood by support staff at an animal hospital. Well, not by the staff at Cameron's clinic. I have given Cameron's clinic 3 tries before writing this review and I wish I could say that I was treated well in one of those visits. But that is not the case. From the moment you walk through the door, the receptionists (Wendy & Lia) seem irritated that you are there. They have an awful, uncaring, and unwelcoming attitude. I'm not sure why these two individuals work in this field and why a business would harbor their extreme lack of professionalism. Vet care itself was fine. I have contacted Cameron Vet trying to get them to see a dog that needs examination for his ears... I am trying to rescue him from an owner who can't care for him and is not in contact with me. They won't see him even though he is suffering... Andrew called me irresponsible... here is his reply Mr. Kerr, I have reviewed your message and spoken with Wendy about your conversation. Legally I am not allowed to examine or treat an animal without the owner's consent. This has nothing to do with our lack of caring or concern. Wendy needs to go. She will not look at her own mistakes. She killed my relationship with my horse trainer by denying the mistake occurred and told my previous horse trainer's wife whatever then the information got passed on to the trainer then he cut me off. I'm extremely heartbroken. This is a really stupid immature behavior. After the situation had happened, I have been thinking what could have prevented this. Need to Check with me first! Full disclosed information on the charges and why. Keep information to yourself rather than passing on the rumor and be more transparent and clear of expected charges next time. 6 minutes ago If I could give 0 stars I would. Just wanted to share my not so great experience with Cameron veterinary cl. I had made an appointment to bring my 1 sick dog in for a diagnosis and shots and my 2nd dog for shots. Unfortunately I had to bring my dog of 16 years that was sick to another vet the night before the appointment for an emergency, which resulted in me having to put him down. Because of his sudden passing my mind was on other things and I forgot to cancel the appointment with Cameron, which resulted in a cancellation fee that I wasn't made aware of when I made the appointment. When I received the bill I called and spoke with Wendy and attempted to try to work something out to reduce the cost and she was completely unwilling to work with me. I understand that it was on me for not canceling and money was lost on their end, but I feel it was very poor customer service and she let $77.14 get in the way of years of business with a loyal customer. I am fairly new to the Eldorado area who loves animals and I plan to adopt more dogs to give them a forever home. I was looking for a long-term relationship with a vet that could have been Cameron. I was a small business owner and understand the importance of customer service, especially someone who was asking to work something out, but apparently Wendy does not. Fortunately there's no shortage of other vets in the area who hopefully are more open. read more

We were staying in Santa Fe for several months and Dulee was ready for follow-up testing for Cushings Disease and they accommodated us with a timely appointment, had the testing done and evaluated and Dulee had a new prescription! I am very happy with Cameron Vet services. The staff is friendly and helpful. They are also knowledgeable. I find the cost fair as well. After spending several hundred dollars at ElDorado animal hospital, I had to put my standard poodle down because the Vet there misdiagnosed her. How many times do you need to change antibiotics before you get a clue that it might be more serious than a UTI? By the third one I pushed for an answer...by then she was in kidney failure. I was referred by a friend who is a vet tech. I had heard mixed reviews about Cedarwood and Smiths, but certainly would still try both places if I hadn't found this vet. My dog is special needs (behavioral issues) and I wanted a male vet as she is more comfortable with males. Anyway, they were amazing. I had the best experience from making the appointment, to the vet tech, Lisa, to Dr. Cameron. Lisa was honest and respectful. Dr. Cameron had the patience of a saint as our dog barked at him. Yet, it was the first time that she took treats from a vet! The staff love what they do and they understand your love of your animals. If you are new to Santa Fe (like myself), I would highly recommend them. It's a bit of a drive (in El Dorado) , but worth it. At least give them a try. I was very impressed! This vet clinic blew me away. My 4 month old Bernese pup was showing signs of parvo and after being turned down by four vet clinics in the Santa Fe area, I was told to try Cameron Vet Clinic. They squeezed me in ON CHRISTMAS EVE!!! The receptionist was compassionate and professional. The vet tech made me feel so comfortable and showed a true love for my poor little puppy. The vet was amazing. He instilled peace in me and my puppy and he covered all bases. I live in Taos but I will be driving all the way to Cameron Vet Clinic for everything my dogs need because they are just that good. read more

Run, don't walk away from this place. They are using bait and switch tactics. So you make an appt with Cameron-- only when yu show up they switch you to a different vet. I objected to the switch as my dog has gone lame and I wanted the most experienced vet I could find for a diagnosis. When I said I wanted to stick with Cameron--as I had been told he was available at either noon or I pm-- they said I'd have to come back a different day--when I persisted they threatened to call the police. I guess most people just meekly accept the switch. My pup is a rescue and they also give no discount for rescue dogs whereas many other vets on the first appt will give a bit of a discount. This is the sort of unethical vet place that is run for the benefit of the vet, not the animal patients or their owners. read more

Very poor customer service by office manager Wendy. She's very unfriendly on the phone, she doesn't return phone calls or e-mails, messes up on appointments and billing, her ineptness is so serious that she contributed towards a big delay on having my animals treated on time which caused the death of my Jack Russell terrier Maddie. The front office is very unorganized, scattered and incompetent. This seems to be the way they want it, Dr. Cameron doesn't seem to care after I voiced my concerns. Dr. Stuart McCall is a great veterinarian and I thank him for his services. I hope he's able to find a better office and a more professional Veterinarian than Andy Cameron to work with. It sounds like Dr. McCall is aware of the situation. I'm shocked that a professional office can be this way, I've spoke to many others who agree and no longer take their pets to Cameron Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Otis is always so upbeat, positive and really explains things well. We have both very young and very elderly dogs. Who obviously have different needs when it comes to veterinary care.
