Actually, there's a lot of technology hidden in plane site, but there's nothing like trying out a potential new camera in person with someone who knows what they're doing. I don't like this camera shop either. I have tried to purchase a camera here twice and was put off by their poor attitude. The first time I tried to buy a Sony CyberShot, but they only had the camera in hot pink. Sorry, it just wasn't my colour. I asked the sales clerk if he could check the other Camera Centre stores in Dublin for another colour; he refused. He said he was too busy and told me I could call them myself. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I came in again to look at more Sony models. None of the display cameras have batteries. When I asked if he could put a battery in the camera he was showing me, the sales clerk told me, "Not unless you're going to buy something." Sorry buddy, not with that attitude! I strongly suggest going to Conn's Cameras on Clarendon Street (off Wicklow St.) Every camera in the display at Conn's has a battery inside and they are happy to let you try out the camera before you buy. A major part of buying a digital camera is seeing whether you like the digital menu; sometimes they can be confusing. If Camera Centre is not going to allow me to turn the camera ON, then I might as well buy it from the Internet for a hell of a lot cheaper. Seriously, go to Conn's. They are much more willing to spend time with you there. read more

Camera centre has great staff with an awful lot of knowledge and plenty doohickeys and thingamajigs for your camera. They stock loads and loads of SLR's as well as older cameras. The downside is that it's very very expensive. Cameras are expensive as is but this is verging on rip-off territory. Nicest camera shop I've ever been into! The manager and his crew were by far giving the best service I've received! I noticed a lovely item in their Christmas window and popped in to inquire about it. And the gents graciously provided amazing service with all of their Dublin charm! Short: I do not recommend this shop due to the extremely lack of communication, non existent customer service and misleading website. Instead I recommend Bermingham Cameras. Long: This shop and their communication is a shame to the Irish businesses and to the camera business market. I do not recommend going into this shop or buying anything from them. Even after spending thousands of EURs there already they don't give a crap regarding communication. Bought an almost 1K EUR lens from their website as I did previously and went into the shop to pick it up in store when they told me they don't have it in stock and they ordered it for me. WHAT?!!? They told me it will arrive next week, which I thought would be OK I can wait a week. Next week nothing has happened, I started sending emails to them and tried to reach them asking what is going on. I had to send couple of emails when they finally answered that they will expecting the lens next week. This was already 2 weeks passed and still nothing. I really needed the lens for different events and they have not at all told me or it was not on their website that it is taking weeks or months to get the lens. Their website is extremely confusing and they are selling stuffs that they don't have at all, without any information or communication about what is going on. After a month of trying to get information from them in a final email I asked them to cancel the order as they have not answered to any of my emails or anything so I got the lens from an other shop as I really needed it and I cannot wait for this incompetent shop for months to give me information. So after a month of nothing and the final email they finally answered and they claimed that they tried to contact me about that the lens is ready to pick up. This is a complete lie, I have checked on their website at the order details just before I sent the email that the status of the order is still ordered and awaiting delivery. I have also sent them huge amount of emails during the one month period and they only answered to my 3rd email, nothing after that. They also have my phone number on file so how these people tried to contact me I have no idea but they are full of bullshit there. So finally I got my money back after all these hassle and waiting for nothing. So DO NOT BUY anything from this shop because looks like from the example and from other reviews you won't receive too much communication from them as they don't give a crap, their customer service does not exist. High prices and snooty sales staff. What is it with retail shops in Dublin? So many of them have this, "quit wasting my time and just buy something," attitude. That's par for the course here. Their selection is ok, but you can find everything they sell on Amazon for cheaper, and they don't really like showing you the merchandise. There are much nicer camera shops in town; I am particularly fond of the Camera Exchange on S Great George's Street. Go there. They are much more willing to talk to you and they have a nicer attitude. read more

My experience is that this shop has nice helpful staff but they fail to mention one key thing before you buy something from them: the fact that you can't get a refund in that store at all. They sold me an open box camera and I realized this only at home and then they refused to refund me when I brang it back. It was also an unwanted gift but they kept repeating the nonsense about the company policy. Avoid this ripoff shop by all means. You'll regret forever entering their premises. read more

This store gets 4 out of 5 for excellent customer service. I walked around for a hour looking for a place to develop my digital prints. For some reason it was difficult to find a camera shop. When I walked into Camera Centre, I was immediately greeted by the manager and although the print machines were self-service he insisted on helping me out which turned out to be a great thing because I struggled with editing of my photograph. The manager was very jovial and good natured, making jokes with me and my friend. Despite the fact that they were closing, the workers did not rush us and politely hoovered around us. Besides printing photographs, this shop will scan photos on any type of clothing for 15 Euro. They'll even put your picture on apron and bibs. read more

I had a problem with an online order due to a delayed delivery and they did everything they could to put things right. I ordered a camera battery from their website and specified that I needed it delivered next working day. This was noted and they rang me to confirm I should receive it in time. However, their courier let them down. The staff were extremely responsive and helpful when I reported the problem and offered to hand-deliver a replacement battery to me that evening. As I needed it for a gig that evening, I collected the battery from the shop, and they even charged it for me while I was on my way in. read more

I have to concur with the negative reviews previously left and here's why: I visited this store yesterday (27-09-2016) while on the way to catch a Luas (normally I cycle every day, however, my bicycle is currently in for repair) home from work and I had noticed their GoPro banner. I needed a 'Standard Frame' for my GoPro Hero4 Session. The sales assistant found it for me and said that will be €44.99 (or €45.00 rounded). I almost balked at the price given the nature of the item and the sales assistant remarked 'they know how to charge.' I reluctantly handed over the cash thinking ok bricks and mortar store so worst case it's at the upper end of €5-€10 difference when compared to online price. As I sat on the Luas, the price just didn't feel right so I looked it up on Amazon and lo and behold you can buy the same product for £20/€23.14 (£20 @ 0.86413 ECB fx rate on 27/09/2016). All orders of £20 or more of eligible items across any product category also qualify for FREE Delivery. So I went back to the store today and the first sales assistant gave the rhetoric of 'you can't compare our prices with online prices.' When I said the margin was way too high (remember the price is 94% higher than Amazon), I was swiftly passed onto the manager (the extra margin is hard to justify in fairness to the assistant). The manager then proceeded with the same rhetoric of it's not comparing like with like but he went a did a quick comparison with other Irish retailers online and came back with an offer of €5 discount or a credit note but no refund. Reason provided was 'the product is not faulty and I am abiding by shop policy and the law). I think if you live by a policy (pricing and returns) rather than living by the customer in the above scenario then it's costlier in the long run. As I was refused a refund, I left the store with a feeling of being royally ripped off and a clear message not to support a bricks and mortar store like this ever again! read more

I came in here to buy a little case for my Contax G1 as the 21 year old case I bought it with was rapidly degrading. They have a nice selection of bags and cases for such a small shop. The bag I chose was slightly cheaper than its being sold on Amazon.co.uk, which is odd because Amazon are usually one of the cheapest when it comes to photography gear. The manner of the sales person (possibly manager) could be improved as he didn't treat me nor the customer in front of me particularly well. I went into this store a number of months ago and was asking about a lens for my brother for his Canon camera. There just happened to be a guy from Canon in the store at the time. I was talking to a manager and asked about the lens. He told me a different brand lens was cheaper and did the same job. The guy from Canon was not impressed. He explained the differences between the lenses. As it was not for me, I didn't understand the terms, he was happy to explain it in detail. He explained to me, but also to the staff member. Explaining (Boka i think). How lenses blur and have shapes. He was talking about it, and the guy in the store asked him what it was. Something you would imagine the staff member would understand. From the whole experience, I ended up leaving and buying the lens in a store around the corner called Conns Cameras on the Canon persons recommendation. Just from curiosity when I went to Conns Cameras I asked about the lens and asked what the Boka was like from it. Two separate guys in the store answered me at the same time. One explained the shape of it and one explained about the blur. Other than the place being packed out the door. It was a much better experience and I bought the lens there. read more

Don't trust what these guys are saying! Rang them up and inquired about my Sony A6000 camera's sensor cleaning which got dirty when I was on holidays. They said it's €65, it will take a week, will be done by a pro and that I have to bring my camera in. Couple days later brought my camera to the store, two guys looked at the sensor and said that it's 100% scratched as well and they will not take it for cleaning. They offered to send a camera to Sony for sensor replacement and said that it will cost few hundred quid. I was shocked and said that I need to think about it. Thinking that I have nothing to lose, I ordered sensor wet cleaning kit from Amazon for €27 inc. delivery and decided to have a go at cleaning the sensor myself hoping that the pictures would be ok afterwards. It turned out a lot better than I expected and there was not a single scratch on the sensor underneath the dirt! Would have wasted few hundred euros if I had listened to these guys. Absolute clowns. Don't ask for advice here! read more

Sept 14: Don't be misled by the Fuji promotion they are advertising, and don't pay full price for a display model.... I wanted to buy the Fuji XT1 so I went to the Camera Centre on Liffey street. The assistant put a battery and card in the floor model and let me take photos and a video with it in the street. He also told me that there was a casback deal with Fuji until 30th September (€150) if I bought the XT1 and 18-55mm kit lens. I planned to return the next day and buy it. So far so good. So I went back on Sunday and spoke to a different assistant (the manager I think). I asked him to verify that the Fujifilm promotion was €150 cash back if I bought the XT1 and 18-55mm kit lens, and he looked on their website and said yes (NOT true! - see later). We talked about the camera, and he mentioned that they 'never power up' the display cameras, which I thought was odd. Anyway, I said I would like to buy the XT1, along with their deal for €50 of a case and memory card. He then ran off with the floor model, put it in a case he had found out the back, and said 'Is this OK?'. I said for €1,699.99 I wanted a new one, boxed and sealed. There was no sign of the manual, strap & charger that come in the box. He replied: 'But it's OK, we never power them up'. I said I'd used it myself the day before.... He then said he'd ring the other shop across town to see if they had it in a box. He came back and said that they did, but I would have to pay him the €1,699.99 now and take the receipt to the other shop. I said no thanks, I'll go tomorrow or next weekend and look at it. He insisted again that he should take the money for it now. I left and never went back. Desperate. WARNING: I have since found out that the Fuji promotion is NOT as they advertise it in their stores. You need to buy the XT1 and 18-55mm kit lens together with a qualifying Fuji XF lens. They deliberately did not tell me this. So if I had tried to submit the claim for just the XT1 with kit lens, it would not have worked. I wanted to like it, but I found the Camera Centre deceitful and money-grabbing and would not recommend it. read more
