We knew what we wanted when we first purchased a home with Val, and Val was able to find us the absolute perfect gem of a home in the perfect neighborhood and navigated through the bargaining and closing with ease. We were in a unique situation, looking for a unique set of characteristics in a home, and Val worked with us for over two years non-stop to help us find exactly what we wanted. Valerie is very knowledgeable about things that we never would have even thought of or asked about, especially considering many of the homes we were interested in were nearly 200 years old, which has an entirely different set of things you have to look at and consider compared to new construction, and she was so helpful in getting us through that. Valerie maintains great relationships with inspectors, contractors, and lending institutions as well, so even if it's your first time doing this, you are truly in great hands. Val has great communication, whether its phone, email or text. She is always proactive no matter what the situation. Val was able push the other side when they needed a push, and made sure that everything stayed on track, from the offer to the closing. Did I mention she helped us save a ton of money? We now rely on Val as our go-to expert for anything relating to our real estate needs, even today. Jan Wickens was a dream to work with. She provided a detailed market analysis for my late…read moremother-in-laws property shortly after her passing (March 2024). Due to provisions of my late mother-in-laws Trust I could not put Jan under contract until late May. Once, that hurdle was cleared she quickly had the property readied for viewing and by the last week of June we accepted an offer that was a little lower than our asking price, but was based on "as-is, as-seen" by early July and closed the next month. Her sense of the market was better than I had expected as well as her ability to see potential issues with other offer. Getting this property sold in a timely manner was a huge burden off my back as the successor trustee. I would describe Jan as honest (tells it like it is), knowledgable (knows the area and what potential customers will like) and flexible (I was in CA for this event). I contacted Vanessa about a property she had listed the day it was posted. The following day, I…read moreviewed the property and made an all-cash offer the day after that. After two days passed without a response from the seller, I sent a written message indicating that I was willing to improve my offer and was flexible on the terms. Vanessa informed me that the seller was ill and out of communication but assured me she would get back to me as soon as the seller resurfaced. The next day, Vanessa emailed to inform me that the seller had decided to go with another offer. Despite my reiterated offer to submit a revised bid on the spot, Venessa told me it was too late. If you're a buyer in today's market, you might know how disappointing it is to lose out on a property because you were out bid. I promise you it's worse if you lose out after a communication breakdown, not knowing if your best offer would have won the property. I can't see how either a potential buyer or seller (directly working with the same realtor!) is best served by not getting everyone's best offer in front of the seller before a sale. Suffice to say, I'm eagerly awaiting the property transfer notice to see if that sheds any light on what happened. The story has an interesting coda. I was told by a contact familiar with the seller's situation that she was selling the property because of ongoing noise from the neighbors. When I asked Vanessa during the showing why the seller was leaving, she told me it was because the seller wanted to travel.
