I wish I had another 5 stars to give the staff at Camden and Meridew! I was referred to Julie Camden for an expungement of my criminal record. I was an idiot in my early 20's and now being in my 30's, married with kids, and aspiring to be a firefighter...I HAD to have someone who knew what they were doing. Julie not only got my record expunged, she did the impossible. Because my crime spanned across two counties I actually had two charges. You are only allowed to have one expunged.This meant Id still be a felon. I've read some of the other reviews on here. I can tell you, there were times I was worried about the time it was taking. But, I always reached out to Julie and though sometimes I was stressed, she talked me through the process every time, letting me know things we were waiting on ( I think always because of the courts, not her). Many times it wasn't what I wanted to hear, but I thank her for being honest and a straight-shooter. In my head I thought this would me a matter of filling out some papers and maybe in 6 months being done. I was just ignorant! It took a couple of years. But, Julie managed to do the impossible. She got both my charges expunged...somehow! And I was able to go from an ex-con to a public servant, becoming a full-time firefighter! It gets better. We had a few left over legal bills that just honestly got lost in a busy life with a move and two kids. Julie called me personally to remind me of them. They were late enough where legally I think she could have sent them to collections but she took my word I would take care of it instead. I really appreciated her reaching out and just asking me if I had forgot about them. Not only did she do the impossible legally, she's a human being who cares about her clients. I think the legal system in general is something very few people are familiar with. That's why you hire a lawyer, right? People have this "all me/instant" mentality these days. They want their calls answered right away, the want the judicial system to work faster ( which is totally out of any lawyers control), and if they don't get the results they want, it's automatically the lawyers fault. It's sad. Think about it. Do you really want a lawyer who can answer the phone the moment you call? How many other clients does that mean they have? If the legal system moved like a cheetah I'd understand but its more like a snail...and I don't know about you but I'd rather have my lawyer clear-headed than feel rushed. It's hard for me to believe that if you are honest with Julie, and you are on the right side of the law, that she would act like some of these reviews say. I've known her now for over 5 years and I was just a stranger, ex-con trying to be a family man. I owe my new life as a firefighter and family man to a few people. But Julie is in the top two! Julie accepted to work on a complicated family law case. This case had been started by well regarded local law firm who, in my opinion, had not taken the time to understand the complexity of the situation and fumbled the ball when we got to court. After leaving the court house very disappointed after the preliminary hearing with this law firm, I was referred to Julie. She took the time to listen, ask good questions, and help flush out the strategies on how to fix the mess from the prelim hearing. During the months that have followed, Julie has been attentive to my questions, phone calls, and has allowed me to collaborate in the legal strategy.
