She decided not to represent me the day before we had to go to court, and the only reason why she told me is because I emailed her (She had 30 days to let me know). She's very rude, she doesn't respond to emails or phone calls in a timely manner if she returns them at all, and she has yet to return my retainer fee. I would not recommend her to anyone. Save yourself the time, money, and headache and find a good, honest attorney who won't be dishonest, take your money, then decide not to represent you the day before you have to go to court and not give you the 10-day withdrawal notice required. I mistook his demands for the retainer to reflect a man confident in his ability . I thought this must be a man who was so sure of his ability to represent his client that he is well aware of his worth. This, coupled with the fact that he assured me that I would be granted a new suppression hearing with new counsel, convinced me secure his representation. Mr Hicks accepted my retainer and my case and immediately became unreachable. He made sitting down in person absolutely impossible and never once gave me the opportunity to explain to him my version of the events that took place on the night of my arrest. Even so, I was hopeful that this must be a man who works quietly in the background and is surely somewhere forming a strategy and I should be patient with this person who has taken my money and trust his process, though the fact that he had yet to be in the same room with me even once for months and had chosen not to return my messages which had begun to become frantic had begun to make me very uneasy. When finally a pretrial court date came I was eager to finally meet this elusive man who had made himself so impossible to communicate with as we were all to be in court that day. As the other cases were called the courtroom thinned until I was the only person left and learned he didn't show up at all. At this point it was becoming obvious there was a problem and I began attempting to reach him far more aggressively and when finally I did he was unable to recall what my case was concerning or what my charges were. I reminded him of these things and the suppression hearing he had assured me of and he told me there was no record of the first hearing and he could find no record my original suppression ever happened. I had to actually get on my case myself and literally email it to him because he had not bothered to or was incapable of finding it even though his promises of a second one was a deciding point in my hiring him. Mr, Hicks spent the remaining time I allowed him to be my counsel continuing to ignore my calls, refusing to meet with me, and failing to form any semblance of a strategy for my defense. I caution anyone who is need of a competent lawyer to avoid this person at risk of your freedom. I fired him in open court and secured new counsel and my case was suddenly defensible and worthy of trial. Firing him was the smartest thing Ive done since I made this mistake of hiring him. I urge you not to make the same mistake

I never heard another word from her then when we went to court, she spoke only in favor of my ex-husband's and while I was asking her questions as I if she could show me proof of my lack of cooperation or any records in regarding my she said well I didn't bring I don't have any records to show. I asked her why not and she said I didn't feel that it was necessary. This was over three years ago I have since been trying to contact her through phone calls and emails and still have had no success today I spoke with the last law firm that she was employed with that I know of and that would be nice there in Martinsville funny thing they don't have from her guardian ad litem cases, and she is no longer employed there. I was sold by the very nice and very respectful receptionist that she would contact her bosses and see if they could provide me with any information as to what I was requesting in the meantime, has anyone else had this experience or anything similar to this with her?

But if you call Matt Springer, you'll speak with someone who is genuinely invested in your best interest. He was very clear from the beginning what his fee was and what I can expect and nothing changed. There were never any surprise fees or overcharges. I never felt like I was being taken for a run which some lawyers can do. Throughout the whole time (which has taken almost an entire year), Joe communicated with me via phone and email and always kept me in the loop on what was going on. I did fly to Indianapolis and got the chance to meet him in person and he was just as nice and pleasant as he had been over phone and email. Again, always explaining the process and what was happening and what I could expect. He has a very calming way about him that always made me feel at ease. Deeply Disappointing Experience - Proceed with Caution…read more My oldest sister solely and secretively engaged attorney Chris Jeter for estate planning, expecting fairness and professionalism for my parents who didn't even make the request. Instead, the documents he produced placed one sibling (my sister) in sole control of everything (trustee, executor, power of attorney, health care decisions) while sidelining the others. This structure ran completely counter to my parents' clearly stated wishes for equal treatment among their three children. Even more troubling, Jeter continued with a meeting despite my father (who is 90 years old) twice stating he did not want to proceed. That total disregard for my father and mother left us with the impression that one sibling's agenda was prioritized over our parents' actual voice not to mention borderline elder abuse and coercion. My father was angry when forced into a Zoom meeting by Jeter, my sister and her second husband. The documents he created also contained red flags: "Gift equalization" language that could be used to reclassify legitimate loans as gifts. Waivers of bond and reporting, removing normal safeguards and accountability. No checks or balances, essentially consolidating all authority into one person's hands. Estate planning should protect families and reflect the true intent of the clients. In our case, these drafts would have increased conflict and stripped away fairness. I was so concerned by his conduct that I filed a complaint with the Indiana Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission. I cannot recommend this attorney and urge others seeking balanced estate planning to look elsewhere.
