We have been going to Fit in New England (F.I.N.E) twice a week for 7 months. It's a family…read morecommitment (parents and 16 year old daughter). We decided that we all had areas that we wanted to work on and that we would do it together. For us- we always check reviews and/or look for a recommendation from our contacts. We were referred to FINE and would absolutely make a strong recommendation for others to check out. Each one of my family members started with different fitness strengths and opportunities. Truly a no judgment zone. The staff truly cares about your goals, will push you to achieve success and customizes your work out so that you enjoy working out and look forward to it. I started with a shoulder injury and after 6 months I feel completely healed and stronger than ever. We work with Kiernan. Important with our crazy work schedules that occasionally when we need to reschedule a training session that we have someone that is flexible and responsive. I can't thank this team enough for the commitment and support they have provided my family- we are experiencing incredible progress in our health and fitness goals!

I found my way to them by sheer luck; over two and a half years later, I feel years younger, look better, and legitimately look forward to every session. The trainers are great, the schedule and format offer something for everyone, the community is welcoming and encouraging (all fitness levels welcome), and the facility is well equipped and well maintained. They retain clients based on their *results* and the exceptional quality of their services rather than contractual commitments (it's all month-to-month, and you can even pause your membership). Thank you, Colin and team!

However since it is closer to the city, it's small and has limited amenities. They offer a variety of classes, but their gym space is very crowded. I found their spin and yoga classes comparable to boutique club classes. Their other cardio/lifting classes are better suited for beginners. Their staff is very friendly and they have some tables to work. The only thing outside the small space is that it gets VERY crowded. Which means you're waiting on equipment, the bathrooms get dirty quickly and hard to find locker space. They only have a tiny sauna in the change room which is always full during prime hours. I would not pay a hefty membership fee for just this location.

Unfortunately, that completely changed after taking a class with the instructor, Alexander Liviner. From the beginning, his attitude came across as arrogant and superior -- exactly the opposite of what I was hoping for. At one point, he made fun of me for being slow. It was completely unnecessary. If he was trying to be funny, it wasn't funny at all. It felt humiliating rather than motivating. I also got a little confused with the weights and accidentally grabbed the wrong one. Instead of guiding me or correcting me in a professional way, he made a facial expression that made me feel like I was stupid. A coach's role is to support and teach -- not to mock or belittle someone who is trying. It also felt like he clearly favored more advanced participants, giving them more attention while others were left feeling invisible. I left the class embarrassed, disappointed, and honestly regretting that I took it. It was a horrible experience. Lifetime should choose instructors who lead with encouragement and professionalism -- not arrogance or favoritism.

The cost is $260 for 1 month which is not cheap but also not like, Equinox prices for personal training. Will likely continue in the summer/fall 2022 if they have the space. Parking is a little tough if you do not have a Somerville Permit (need to find a meter in the AM or just hope you do not get towed in front of the Car Wash place). Overall a great spot in the Cambridge/Somerville area. Reminds me of Ethos in the South End.

Derek and Regan are my favorite instructors for different reasons. Derek is great at creating a class that mimics an outdoor ride. Whether we're modeling our workout after part of the Tour de France or just taking on a series of hills, I always feel like I left with a great workout. Regan always choose fun, upbeat music that helps you to power through her drills. I feel like sometimes a class can be repetitive, but the music and her attitude make the class go by pretty quickly. I also recently tried a Wednesday 6am bootcamp class that meets outside at Conway park. I'd never worked with the two instructors (with Sean + another instructor who I hadn't met before). I normally DESPISE bootcamps, and it can suck being the new person to a group. But the instructors had great attitudes, were really funny, and made the class enjoyable by changing up our activities frequently. It involved a lot of partner work, but I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. AND--I felt twinges in my abs from all the planking for at least a week afterward. (Which means I should probably do this class more often.) The only downside to these classes is that I would really love another 6am spin class (although obviously not possible if the indoor space is already in use). I feel like a lot of people would do a Friday AM spin class if it were offered. I'm giving 4 stars mostly because I've only found the 6am spin class to be the one class that I really consistently attend, but the Training Room is an awesome place to take classes if you want a low stress, low-commitment trial with a new activity.

The crew that comes here is pretty hard core and they have a wide offering of classes- as early as 5am (!) for the first class of the day. I loved their music, too (straight hip hop generally and no techno like other F45 locations). The parking situation is pretty good and there is a really good nail salon right next door for those wanting to hit a gel mani right after the class. I was highly impressed with the motivation and instruction this class gave me. I had a baby within the year and after 7 straight days of this class I felt like I legit dropped the 10 pounds I had left to lose. This is the perfect work out for mothers - 45 mins in and out and Saturday you can treat yo'self to that 60 min work out. I am attaching a pic here- I've gotten more and more fit the more I go. I did have to join the Somerville Location b/c it was closer to where I live in Cambridge, but I really loved the Medford spot. If not for the traffic I prob would have joined here.

I like that they do a mix of resistance, cardio and hybrid workouts. They typically have a little bit of everything in each day. This is more cross training based so expect to lift light and fast. If you enjoy the heavy lifting with low reps to build muscle, this isn't for you. If you're looking to get lean, then this is a great workout! My only issue is that they advertise a 45 min class but the workout itself is closer to 35mins.

Unfortunately, my experience was very different. On several occasions, I felt a cold and unfriendly attitude toward me from the moment I walked through the door. As a Hispanic woman, I never felt completely welcome. The situation with the guest passes was simply the last straw. My daughter had previously been a member of this gym and is still in their system. She does not come with me regularly, which is exactly why using one of my guest passes seemed like a reasonable option. However, the way the situation was handled and the way I was treated left me feeling uncomfortable, embarrassed, and undervalued as a customer. I am not asking for special treatment. I am asking for the basic respect that every person deserves. It is sad to realize that a place that should make women feel safe and welcome can sometimes make some women feel excluded. After this experience, I decided to find a place where kindness, respect, and professionalism are part of the culture--not the exception.
