We pulled into a CVS to ask for directions, but decided to speak to the aforementioned officer parked in the parking lot. He was a very nice man and said it would just be easier for us to follow him to the restaurant. So we got a police escort to the dinner, BOOYAH! He had lived at 124 Washington St. in Brighton before volunteering to enlist in the Army's in E Company, 104th Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry, or "Yankee" Division. According to the National Gold Star Family Registry, Kaplan was active in the Boy Scouts as a young man "One of the most memorable stories of Stanley as a Boy Scout leader occurred when he took his scouts on a camping trip," the registry says. "The children were playing with matches and one of the scouts lit another child on fire. When Stanley tried to put the fire out by rolling the child in the dirt, he caught fire himself. He burned his uniform in the process and had to wear the burnt uniform for the remainder of the trip. He was content knowing he possibly saved the child's life." At a family dinner in Miami before heading off to serve, someone asked Kaplan why he volunteered to enlist instead of waiting to possibly be drafted. He responded: "Because I am a Jew," the registry said. "During the fighting, Stanley saw one of his friends get hit by enemy fire and ran to his aid," the registry says. "In the process of trying to help his friend, Stanley was shot and killed." In Brighton, an epitaph inscribed on his memorial reads: "A good son, A good Boy Scout, A good soldier." O'Hara said officials have tried to contact family of Kaplan to attend Friday's rededication ceremony, but so far have had no luck.

A good son, a good Boy Scout, A good soldier." I could find no other information on Private Kaplan.

I was on constant communication over the phone with this family member up until the last hours of his death. He was weak and unable to move and answered the phone by voice. I was constantly getting sick (dizzyness, weakness, and coughing,)from something reoccurring with a putrid smell in the apartment and a person in the hall heckling a fake cough at different times in the front hallway. When I left the apartment at times, the smell went away. I was unable to be there to save him but went through the same suffering myself since I was there shortly before I went to the hospital while he stayed behind for the same illness. The BPD was called a number of times by me from the hospital to have it investigated and to check on him while he was alive, and the BPD did nothing and didn't even call me back for an update. I was only alerted by the hospital staff about his death, and it wasn't sourced from the BPD as told by the hospital staff. Shame on you, BPD! The hospital tests revealed in me were inflammation and lung damage with hypoxia when blood clots happen. My family member got an optopsy, and there was no trace of covid19 in his system, but it was reported as a cardiovascular failure. I bet this illness caused blood clots and caused a cardiovascular issue in the lungs, and he could not breathe and died. His lungs and sinuses were never examined. He was cremated only days later.

I learned about that, how the organization is run, and how they plant to have a successful garden and produce a bountiful harvest to share. Gaining Ground is a great not for profit farm that distributes the veggies grown here to local shelters and food banks. Their work here impacts the lives of many families and different communities. They use volunteers to help weed and plant the vegetables and fruits that they produce. The help is fulfilling and it really makes you value the work they do since it is so hands on and really matters. Sure this could be a farm that sells tomatoes at the farmers market but their mission is about ensuring people can have a balanced diet. Contact them if you are looking to help out.
