Wonderful food, drink, atmosphere and story. Love this business and the people who run it. We enjoyed a lovely lunch. The menu has something for everyone and every budget. The drinks are plentiful and the grounds and new building is fabulous. Cute little gift shop with hand made goods. This will be our go to place this summer!

Great atmosphere- we sat on the dog friendly patio near the orchard, lovely lower patio and beautiful indoors. Delicious cider, friendly staff and 5 star food. Highly recommend the pizza and fried chicken sandwich

We had an amazing time relaxing outside on the patio. Taking in the surrounding atmosphere, and enjoying the summer sounds of the orchard. Relaxing in the sun while sipping on cider, thank you for a great afternoon.

After lunch, we made a quick pit stop to check out The BX Press Cidery & Orchard. They're about a 10 minute drive from downtown Vernon. We dropped in on a Saturday afternoon (around 2:00pm) and were able to join a short 15 minute guided tour (occurs every 30 minutes). You can do that or do a tasting at the bar; both options are pay by donation and gets you three generous pours. We sampled the Hostler, cranberry cinnamon and lavender raspberry. The inside had a mix of merchandise (wooden charcuterie boards, homemade toques, hats, shirts and apple soap) along with 5 flavours of bottled cider available. We were also informed of a couple upcoming flavours: apricot ginger and vanilla plum (for Christmas) sounded great! They even had homemade macarons! While we were leaving, we spotted crates of crab apples that were to be crushed the following day. A worker told us to give it a try; super tart and dry but tasty. - Cranberry cinnamon ($9.00) - this was our favourite of the three ciders we sampled. Good tartness with a note of cinnamon at the end. - Golden russet ($9.00) - didn't love it. Fun spot to learn about the cider process and sample a few flavours.

Cider... I've never had a taste for cider until I came here. We took the Cider tasting and learned the history of this brewery and fell in love with cider. If you're ever in BC you need to stop by and try a couple of the different ciders they have to offer.

Atmosphere: cute little long tables and picnic benches outside. One bench is in between rows of apple trees. Its lovely. Service: knowledgeable, friendly, accommodating staff. Theyve been growing apples here since 1940s. We were also told that 2 lbs of apples goes into every bottle of cider. $12 for one of two preselected flight (traditional vs seasonal) SEASONAL FLIGHT The overlander- tastes like a light rose. Semi sweet. A bit of tartness. Looks and tastes like rose. Lavender raspberry-slightly more savory due to the lavender. Tastes and looks like raspberry juice. The bandit =Cherry and other berries. no sugar added. Tastes like any supermarket fruit punch with less sugar. Good. Pours like a fruit punch. Iced cider- sweet dessert sipper- smells sweet but tastes a bit like tequila. You get the burning linger. Amber. TRADITIONAL FLIGHT (drier and all apples) The prospectors-traditional dry English cider- low bubbles, slight bitters very bland. Not much sweetness. Pours almost clear. The hostler- tarte and ever so slightly astringent in a good way. Some bubbles. Pours almost clear. The dufferin -aged in whiskey barrels- with slight bourbon taste and vanilla. Smells like bourbon. Slight bitterness. Low in bubbles. Pours straw color. The wrangler- smells yeasty and slight French oak. Good amount of bubbles. Pours light amber. Overall: if you love ciders, you'll enjoy the flights. So much more variety than at your local liquor store. I'll definitely he returning.

    The hostler!

We dropped in on a Friday afternoon (around 3:00pm) and had the place all to ourselves. They've got a cute outdoor picnic area if you want to lounge around. Otherwise, the tasting room is quaint and homey. Our host was fantastic; funny, quick witted and informative. Clearly loves his job and cider. There was four ciders to taste (bonus: it's complimentary). Sadly, they were out of the Mama Beary (which comes out on Mother's Day) and cidermaker's selection. Future cidermaker flavours in the works included cherry, winter spice and cranberry. Bottles are $8.44 to $9.59 range. Appreciate that the prices already include taxes. 10% off if you buy a dozen bottles. They had a pre-made four pack for $35.16. - Peary - off dry that's made from 100% pears. Light and enjoyable. - Dry - not as dry as we expected. I actually liked this one more than the nearly dry. - Nearly dry - this one didn't leave much of an impression on me. - Razz - this was a surprise. Shocking burst of raspberry flavour. We bought a bottle ($9.00) for home. Definitely worth a visit! We'll be on the lookout for their specialty ciders.

Stoked Embers Wood Fired Pizza is on site. We dropped in on a Sunday afternoon (around 12:15pm). The firetruck theme is all over the place; there's even a real miniaturized version at the entrance. The space itself is huge, especially their outdoor picnic seating area. Gorgeous view and a few outdoor/camping games (Yardzee, Jenga and ladder toss) to entertain you. Tastings are $3.00/person and get you two samples. Otherwise, you can get a flight ($9.99 for 4). Tasting fee is waived if you buy at least 3 bottles. Cans and bottle prices are in the $3.49 to $8.49 range. - Raspberry perry - this is delicious; refreshing and extremely quaffable. Our favourite flavour that they offer. We bought a couple bottles ($7.99). - Cherry 'n' apple - this is the other that we enjoyed; bright, bold cherry flavour. We bought a bottle ($7.49) as well. - Raspberry hibiscus - this was better than when we first tried it at Cider Fest. More floral and hibiscus was more prominent. - Bourbon blackberry - one of their barrel aged ciders. - Jamaican rum plum - their other barrel aged option. - Raspberry extinguisher - slightly drier. Didn't love it. - Haskap berry - a friend brought us one back to try when they visited. Not much flavour to this one. It's all about the raspberry perry from Truck 59. 3.5 stars.

We liked their tea infused ciders the most and bought a variety pack ($11.55 for 4) for home. - Wards dry hopped cider - didn't like this one much. Not much depth or flavour. - Ginger cider - very light on the ginger flavour but at least they use fresh ginger. - Harvest spiced cider - you can drink this hot or cold. I liked this one more than the ginger. - Mimosa cider - tasted some orange notes. The packaging is eye catching. Wards ciders were run of the mill. Interesting that you can find their cans cheaper in town at Superstore than at their actual facility.

Ciders are priced in the $7.17 to $12.13 range (taxes not included) and they offered growler refills ($9.78/L). - The Flume - this is their driest cider which they call "bone dry". We aren't huge fans of the dry varieties but this wasn't bad. - Porter's dry - another dry but this was a bit more earthy in flavour. - Woodland hopper - this was my favourite of the bunch we tried. Well balanced, slightly floral and different. We bought a bottle ($7.78). - Margarita gose - this is their newest flavour and part of their discovery series. An off dry aged on lemon verbena, lemon zest and salt. Perfect for summer. B really liked it so we also bought a bottle ($7.78). - Farm pressed pear - they use four types of pear. Light with a good mouth feel but the pear flavour was a tad too subtle. - Tuesday's original - this is their first cider that they made. Decent for an off-dry but we didn't find it memorable. - Sweet paradise - this was the sweetest of their lineup, hence the name. Enjoyable. Another solid cidery in Summerland. If you're a cider fan, SHC is definitely worth a try.
