A few friends of mine suggested that I go to an atelier but thinking that would mean the dress would cost too much, I didn't. However, I live in the Oltrarno neighborhood, and always walked my dog on via serragli, where Anna's studio is located. After spotting beautiful, whimsical creations in the window jutting out from the street. I finally sent her an email, I thought, if anything, I could cover her on the blog. We met and I told her my nightmare stories of wedding dress shopping in Italy. The horrible cupcake dresses that weighed 100 pounds and made me look like a sad barbie. Ironically, many of them were made in Spain -- and I wanted to something made-in-italy 100%. She listened, shook her head at the right parts and shared a little about herself. It was then that I knew she was the person to make my dress. In fact, we settled on a price and type which was much more affordable than I imagined (ok you're not going to get a handmade dress for 1,500) but you get my drift. Every step of the way, I was involved and it was so much fun doing this in her absolutely gorgeous studio space. Audrey Hepburn would have approved! We picked the lace together, bolts of different types laid upon her sofa, and the skirt. Anna was so easy to work with and a lot of fun too, she just 'gets' it when you are going through such a stressful period with wedding planning. My dress turned out to be everything I hoped and more. It's so beautiful that I wore it a second time and a party we had in Texas. Every detail is intricate and telling. Anna's dresses tell a story, and she continues an art that you don't see a lot of anymore. Satorialists who believe in what they do, in tiny studious all around Italy. I am still in awe of it all, and can suggest her to anyone looking for an amazing dress. She is simply the best.

Ok so they need to work on this. The sales clerk was so rude, and wouldn't let me use another machine, and it ended up that all the machines are broken and I had to go to the first floor to pay for my purchases. That's why the three stars. Inventory - getting sparse, most Zara Stores are packed with reasonably priced inventory.

The only downside is there was only 1 set of dressing rooms. The first time i went into the store, the line was so long I left. Went back later in the day and it wasn't as busy so I was able to try on a few things. Beautiful selection of fashionable Fall and Winter clothing. Prices seemed less than in the States. Lucky me, I picked up a new pair of jeans and a couple of sweaters! Zara's a nice choice if you're looking up to date fashion at affordable prices.

I found a tie for my brother in pale and navy blue with a modern plaid design. I saw a wall of nice dress shirts, but my brother likes a perfect fit so I didn't even bother guessing. I also found a navy blue sweater with a thick collar that v-ed down with buttons, but it seemed like it would be a little too big. Plus it was heavy and would take too much space which I try to avoid when traveling. If only guys in cooler weather U.S. cities could dress like Europeans without their sexuality being called into question. Fitted everything- pants, dress shirts with ties, suits, polos, sweaters, t-shirts, belts, with scarves and hats. I saw GQ fashion everywhere with masculinity in tact. Downstairs they had ladies clothes in pretty colors, but nothing that really caught my eye. They also had a bunch of cute accessories. All their shirts were in English because that's the trendy thing among younger adults in Europe- no thank you. Overall decent quality clothes for older teens to early 30's at affordable prices.

We went back a few hours later to check again with a new clerk (who hopefully wasn't as rude) and the manager was ten times worse. Absolutely horrible to us. Told us it was "illegal" to take the skirt from the mannequin even to check the size. She told us to leave the store just for asking about the skirt. Keep in mind this was not Gucci this was an Italian forever21. Ridiculous 0/10 would never recommend.
