I once timed her, and she spent 48 minutes of class time bragging and glorifying her old-day history! Plus people in the Chinese dance classes are obnoxious, trying to correct your moves on the side while bullying you. They pretty much act like they are the teacher! It's pretty messed up in this learning environment where the teacher doesn't teach and that the students trying to show off their mediocre dance skills I don't think I can tolerate this kind of toxic learning environment much longer. I'm planning to quit after their upcoming performance.

So for the families where this is important, this is a place to go! There is plenty of parking around the studio and lots of different classes and times to choose from. You can watch the students dance from a tv in the waiting lobby. The staff is friendly and they provide you the costumes for each performance. The only thing that kind of bothers me is the very long flight of stairs that you need to walk to get to the studio but it just means I get to actually get some exercise in! lol

If you are going to miss a class make sure to communicate to their office, the school will allow makeups that can be exchanged to any class they offer. Keep in mind the make up needs to be scheduled within 30 days (this does not mean that the scheduled class occurs in 30 days, just that you have set an agreed date in a class with capacity). If you are visiting for the first time keep in mind that the entrance is up the flight of stairs in the mini alley way. It does not face directly out to huntington drive.

Shikha's studio is non competitive but she does have big performances. Yes with the cute costumes, accessories, hair done and glitter. It's very organized and the kids work very hard to prepare themselves for it. It's a very good place to go if you're child is very young or you're just starting out and do not want to feel intimidated or less of a dancer. There's no ballet here but hip hop, so if you want to get your child motivated and to just let loose, be themselves and have fun, this a great place. Most kids (and mine) don't like ballet so we did have to find another place to take lessons. I really hope that Shikha does eventually branch out and can provide more classrooms and styles of dance.

I had originally found a dance teacher through Groupon but the lesson was very random and didn't really have any choreography! So I was even MORE stressed after our first lesson as I felt I had learned nothing! I then assigned my fiancé to find a new dance teacher. Thankfully he found Elena who uses Lai lai dance studio which is walking distance from our apt in downtown Alhambra ! Her rates are the same as anywhere else (and she gives a discount if you buy a package of 3 or 5 etc) My fave thing about Elena is she immediately knew what we wanted. She listened to the song we chose thoroughly and asked us some questions to get to know us and she helped us choreograph a cute routine that went along with the song. Keep in mind we've only had one lesson but we've already learned about 1 min of our song!! Thankfully we want a short routine but she's really good at giving us ideas and getting our feedback about what we feel comfortable with and what we don't like so I really appreciate that!! Especially with salsa turns. It is key that the lead learn how to safely twirl your lady! This was a level 1 class and there were no safety or etiquette instructions. We passed by this place 3 months ago and decided to check it out. Now she calls it her second home! My wife first took a ballet lesson from Mr Li. There were many other students of similar age in the same class. Most of them are students of his for many years. The lessons were very helpful in making my wife better. There are also other dance classes available like Hip Hop, Kpop Dance, Latin Dance, piano lessons, etc. my wife has joined most of the other classes as well to broaden her horizon. The studio itself is spacious and thoughtfully designed, especially considering that it's one of the few in the area without a large beam awkwardly planted in the center of the floor.
