They also have pamphlets and maps, as well as knowledgeable local guides to help you plan your visit. They also had nice restrooms, which were appreciated on a driving trip. All the staff were welcoming and friendly. I bought a few small items, but the best thing were the wine bottle shippers that came in handy when packing for home. Every bottle survived. It's worth it to stop in if you're visiting the area, especially your first time.

The offices, coffee shop and restaurant were all closed so it was easy to explore and take pictures without being disturbed. There's allegedly an aggressive security guard here (at Stony Point Lake) but we didn't see him. The center is nice and has sofas making it an inviting and relaxing environment. We were welcomed by Marion, the weekend manager. Marion was extremely knowledgeable about Yountville and the Wine Country. She offered great suggestions and tips about wineries and their tastings and restaurants. You can get maps, various wine country magazines and pamphlets from many wineries. Ask about wineries offering two for one tastings and or discounts. If you need information about Yountville and the Wine Country, this Welcome Center is a must visit.

I want excited to see the film locations. We went first to the Bodega Bay Visitor Center to get the answers. There we met Emily who was taking care of the office that day. She kindly showed me all "The Birds" souvenirs in stock and mapped out all the film locations for us to visit. She spoke to us like we were old friends. We appreciated the welcoming hospitality to Bodega Bay. The Visitors Center had the most and best "The Birds" souvenirs available. Wonderful note cards with a crow, a guide book, a humorous t-shirts and tote bags showing a screen shot of The Birds film, commemorative t-shirt of the Alfred Hitchcock Film Festival held in the Bodega Bay. The center was decorated with The Birds theme was throughout, from crow bookends, framed autographed picture of Tippi Hedren and a silhouette of Alfred Hitchcock on the wall! The center is clean, inviting, warm and welcoming to the visitor. You will smile at the funny restroom sign. The Visitor Center is the best place to start if you want to know all about Bodega Bay!

Bodega Bay...close enough to be convenient, yet far enough from SF to feel like you've gone away…read more Unlike the Santa Cruz visitor center, this one actually has a small area to park your car. Since a lot of Bodega Bay now looks nothing like in the film The Birds, this is a good place to play tourist and get some free local maps and a ton of local restaurant and hotel brochures even if you have a GPS. The maps are helpful because many of the small buildings in the movie were actually sets and those that weren't sets were old wooden buildings that either rotted away or were destroyed by fire over the years. Even then, some interesting places from the film still exist today. The person who assisted me last time was really helpful and great with directions too. The visitor center is the perfect place to start a fun visit to Bodega Bay.

Go to the Fish Hatchery, it's cool to tons of Steelhead fish. You might see some fish jumping at the Fish Ladder - hard to see, but we saw a few jump. Unbelievable how hard they have to work to survive. At the Raceways you can feed the fishes - bring Quarters because they machine is like those kind candy machines that only take quarters! We didn't and feel really bad to not get to see the crazy madness it would have caused. So Bring Quarters people! You can get information on hikes, maps, watch a short video, read about the fish hatchery, etc. Worth a visit! We'll be back one day. Bring Quarters!!

It's clear that Ric Forman truly put a lot of time and thought into his process and winemaking. I enjoyed the stories especially how the one on how Ric marks the barrels with small rocks so he knows how many time he has checked it. The wine of course was terrific. I especially enjoyed the 2018 and 2019. I look forward to receiving them in the fall.

The factory workers would wave up us as we watched the make jelly belly's and assorted candies. They had lots of activities along the way to keep little ones involved. On the day we went the plant was partially running. But we plan to go back when the are fully running. The gift shop is amazing. They also pizza, hamburgers and such. Along with custom chocolates. Adults are $8, children are $4, and everyone gets a paper factory hat you wear, and a small package of jelly beans for after the tour. There weren't many people present around the 2PM timeframe, I saw more people coming in at 3PM when I was heading out. I won't go into too much detail on the tour, but it's pretty fun and should be much more exciting on a weekday. It's filled with fun facts and there are some interactive activities and photo-ops, topped off with fun facts and trivia. There is also a museum you can visit by a 5 min walk or a tram ride. It's filled with old factory parts and the history of the company. I also enjoyed the jelly bean art present both at the factory tour and the museum. All in all, we spent about 1.5hours here, and is easily extendable to 2+ hours with kids or if you're into history. The jelly bean factory shop has some items on deep discounts and are a lot cheaper than in-store ones at 3rd parties. I would definitely stock up here until your next visit. There are also gift boxes to bring to family and friends both in country and to countries where jelly beans aren't sold or are more expensive. Either way, if you're a fan of jelly beans, then you best believe this is your best bet for the best deals and arguably best selection...it is the factory after all!

It is wise to step outside your environment and, in the case of this current venture, go visit an Alpaca farm. The Menagerie Hill ranch has beautiful animals. The host was awesome and knowledgeable. We increased our knowledge of the animals and of the farm but also got to feed them. We also had the opportunities to get close and personal with them for pictures. They were all friendly and fluffy. I recommend this unique experience for all because if you do not just break your usual pattern to stop and smell the roses or to pet and feed an Alpaca, life will pass by before you know it. Put your life on pause just for a few hours and go see the Alpacas. They would like to share peace with you. You can find them at the Menagerie Hill Ranch

This was a memorable trip. We were originally slated to visit in late June before my birthday but…read moreboth Deb and Kirk were recovering from surgery. We stayed in touch over the next several weeks before settling on an August date. We braved the high temps and winding roads to arrive at the ranch. It's a beautiful space on a hillside and you can see the herd and their guardian llama as you pull into the parking lot. We learned a lot about the alpaca life cycle, fed the boys, and my daughter got to hold and carry a cria. We bought two cute alpaca shaped soaps. I didn't experience any of the negativity others have complained about. It is a working ranch so it's not a petting zoo or a tourist attraction. Go with the flow and you'll have a great experience.
