The offices, coffee shop and restaurant were all closed so it was easy to explore and take pictures without being disturbed. There's allegedly an aggressive security guard here (at Stony Point Lake) but we didn't see him. Marion was extremely knowledgeable about Yountville and the Wine Country. She offered great suggestions and tips about wineries and their tastings and restaurants. You can get maps, various wine country magazines and pamphlets from many wineries. Ask about wineries offering two for one tastings and or discounts. If you need information about Yountville and the Wine Country, this Welcome Center is a must visit.

I want excited to see the film locations. We went first to the Bodega Bay Visitor Center to get the answers. There we met Emily who was taking care of the office that day. She kindly showed me all "The Birds" souvenirs in stock and mapped out all the film locations for us to visit. She spoke to us like we were old friends. We appreciated the welcoming hospitality to Bodega Bay. The Visitors Center had the most and best "The Birds" souvenirs available. Wonderful note cards with a crow, a guide book, a humorous t-shirts and tote bags showing a screen shot of The Birds film, commemorative t-shirt of the Alfred Hitchcock Film Festival held in the Bodega Bay. The center was decorated with The Birds theme was throughout, from crow bookends, framed autographed picture of Tippi Hedren and a silhouette of Alfred Hitchcock on the wall! The center is clean, inviting, warm and welcoming to the visitor. You will smile at the funny restroom sign. The Visitor Center is the best place to start if you want to know all about Bodega Bay!

Bodega Bay...close enough to be convenient, yet far enough from SF to feel like you've gone away…read more Unlike the Santa Cruz visitor center, this one actually has a small area to park your car. Since a lot of Bodega Bay now looks nothing like in the film The Birds, this is a good place to play tourist and get some free local maps and a ton of local restaurant and hotel brochures even if you have a GPS. The maps are helpful because many of the small buildings in the movie were actually sets and those that weren't sets were old wooden buildings that either rotted away or were destroyed by fire over the years. Even then, some interesting places from the film still exist today. The person who assisted me last time was really helpful and great with directions too. The visitor center is the perfect place to start a fun visit to Bodega Bay.

Go to the Fish Hatchery, it's cool to tons of Steelhead fish. You might see some fish jumping at the Fish Ladder - hard to see, but we saw a few jump. Unbelievable how hard they have to work to survive. At the Raceways you can feed the fishes - bring Quarters because they machine is like those kind candy machines that only take quarters! We didn't and feel really bad to not get to see the crazy madness it would have caused. So Bring Quarters people! You can get information on hikes, maps, watch a short video, read about the fish hatchery, etc. Worth a visit! We'll be back one day. Bring Quarters!!

I especially enjoyed the 2018 and 2019. I look forward to receiving them in the fall.

While one visit was more than enough to satisfy my own curiosities, I have since had my own little monster whom at one point was overly in love with these tiny fruity beans. TOUR ADMISSION PRICES: Adults (Ages 18+): $8 Children (Ages 3-17): $4 Children (Ages 2 and under): Free The tour is self guided, allowing you to go at your own pace in learning about the process of making the jelly beans. FUN FACT: DID YOU KNOW IT TAKES 7-14 DAYS TO MAKE A JELLY BELLY JELLY BEANS?? Now, before you get started, there are a few rules that visitors must abide by. 1) Keep your jelly belly hat on at ALL TIMES. I kid you not, the staff will stop and remind you to put it on. 2) Avoid eating and drinking during the tour. 3) Avoid any flash photography. I'm sure this specific rule applies more to the candy actually being in production. My visits have only occurred on the weekends and Jelly Belly only actively produces during the weekday during early hours. Yep, I've never had the pleasure of seeing anything made firsthand but I guess Food Network's UNWRAPPED will have to do... 5/5 Stars because my toddler had the most amazing time. Since I've now been there numerous…read moretimes, I skip the tour and cafe, but I always always go to the store, especially the room of discounted items, like new flavors they're trying out that aren't in the branding bags yet or seasonal products. It's sooo worth it to get a bag of my favorite jelly beans for $2.00 or sometimes a specialty item for even $0.50! So fun. I've discovered some new favorites this way. FYI: They are currently remodeling the discount room, which is located on the side where the cafe is, but it is temporarily behind the stairs on the side of the store. Look out for it because it is worth it! There are also little "train rides" in the parking lot, but the schedule is sporadic. The jelly bean art work is still really cool to look at each time I'm there. They sometimes rotate what they display, which is cool. Currently they have Harry Potter jelly beans artwork displayed in the entryway. They've also gotten rid of the free taste tests, which used to be right when you enter. Bummer. That was really fun to taste the bamboozle flavors, like stinky feet or vomit. Haha

It is wise to step outside your environment and, in the case of this current venture, go visit an Alpaca farm. The Menagerie Hill ranch has beautiful animals. The host was awesome and knowledgeable. We increased our knowledge of the animals and of the farm but also got to feed them. We also had the opportunities to get close and personal with them for pictures. They were all friendly and fluffy. I recommend this unique experience for all because if you do not just break your usual pattern to stop and smell the roses or to pet and feed an Alpaca, life will pass by before you know it. Put your life on pause just for a few hours and go see the Alpacas. They would like to share peace with you. You can find them at the Menagerie Hill Ranch

We stayed in touch over the next several weeks before settling on an August date. We braved the high temps and winding roads to arrive at the ranch. It's a beautiful space on a hillside and you can see the herd and their guardian llama as you pull into the parking lot. We learned a lot about the alpaca life cycle, fed the boys, and my daughter got to hold and carry a cria. We bought two cute alpaca shaped soaps. I didn't experience any of the negativity others have complained about. It is a working ranch so it's not a petting zoo or a tourist attraction. Go with the flow and you'll have a great experience.
