I sheepishly confessed that searching for "dulces de convento" sweets made by Spanish nuns was my inspiration to travel here! Monasteries have monks brewing beer, but nuns in convents baking sweets from ancient recipes seems much more divine! The Cordiales are shaped like delicious little dumplings of almond flour and lemon. We ate the whole box of Cordiales today and plan to return tomorrow. We also bought a bag of magdalenas, sugar-topped little cakes scented with orange for tomorrow's breakfast.

While at the Alcazar Palace waiting to be picked up by the tour bus, Las Setas was only 15 minutes away. Using the Google map, hurried thru the maze of people and stores, it was amazing to see this scene. I did not get a chance to visit the Roman ruins, fig tree or roof top walk way. Will be back to fully experience this area.

And a Flamingo studio plus secluded hotels! The atmosphere alternated between quiet hidden gems and touristy gathering spots. It's an interesting maze filled with surprises if one's not too worried about getting totally lost.

In 1929, Seville hosted the Ibero-American Exposition World's Fair. The centre of it is Parque de María Luisa, designed in a "Moorish paradisiacal style", with a half mile of tiled fountains, pavilions, walls, ponds, benches, lush plantings of palms, orange trees, Mediterranean pines, and stylized flower beds. It contains tiled pictures of the major cities in Spain, along with a map. There is also a huge fountain that sprays water very strongly, but scheduled. It is among our favorite, if not the first, Seville sights. I tried to show the various Cities with the appropriate maps, but ... sorry if it didn't come out correctly, but at least you get the idea.

Don't dismiss the subtle beauty of this little adjacent street as the orange trees are immaculately tended to and luckily for those here when they're in bloom it is like an incense from above, wafting through the streets, bouncing off the cathedral walls and perfuming the cafes lining the way.
