BUTCHERS. I brought my 2016 Porsche Boxster here to mount new tires on the stock Porsche wheels. The wheels are a black satin finish (see photos). Thus, it was important to me that the tire installer be aware and careful to not scratch or ding the finish. Also, it's important to note that, prior to this tire change, the car had been running on the factory-installed tires (low milage car). So, no other company had done any wheel or tire work on the car. Since this company touts the type and quantity of higher end vehicles they work on, I believed they gave their customer's cars the "white glove" treatment. Not the case. The outside of the drivers side rear wheel was returned scratched along the entire perimeter. Clearly, it was laid down on a rough surface on the outside-facing edge, not the inside-facing edge. As things seem to go, it was raining when I picked up the car, so I did not see the damage until the wheel dried. I noticed scratches in the drivers' side front wheel after it dried, as well. However, before leaving, I did notice the lug nuts were pretty beat up. The installer said that was "impossible to avoid". Really? That's a thoughtless and careless answer when the action of removing and reinstalling lug nuts on higher end cars is at least 50% of his daily job. It shows no intent to accept any responsibility to do a quality job. Bottom line: The wheels went into this company in factory-perfect condition; they were returned looking terrible. Takeaways: 1) You will not get "white glove" treatment of your car from this company, despite the all the pretty photos on their website. 2) If the condition and appearance of your car is important to you, look elsewhere for wheel and tire work. read more

If you're in the market for updating your stock car or truck, look no further. When I called in Macario answered the phone, was extremely knowledgeable on all the questions I had, helped fill in the gaps where I was unsure of what my options were and made getting our Yukon exactly how we wanted it. Rewind to when I called. My request was powder coated koko kouture rims, on 24's with a drop. The drop was my biggest concern. As this is our weekend car I wanted a smooth ride. And the lower you go and the bigger the rims the more you feel. Macario suggested 24's with a 2/3 drop. 2 inches in the front and 3 in the back. So we booked our truck. No service was provided. Let me start with the parking. I was trying to park in front of the store on a rainy day. There was a guy taking pictures of the car and did not let us park in the empty space because he was taking pictures. He pointed fingers and gestured to park on another slot. I did not know this guy is working at the store at that time, I just felt this guy is rude. I went inside the store, but no one was inside, I had a bad feeling. After a while, the guy who was taking the picture outside came back into the store but not really welcoming or anything. I had to ask for help. He did not ask what I was looking for or try to help us at all. After a few very generic interactions which did not help me at all, since he did not share the information I needed, the phone rang. He picked up the phone, I just left the store since I felt he did not want to help me and want me to get out the store. I went to the Wheelworks next door, they were really nice and helped me with everything I needed. They can order anything and match the price with tire installation and everything. Don't trust this place!!!!! This place is a rip off. They completely screwed me. Tommy the owner is like a car salesman. He tries to push the envelope on you as much as he can. I was working with his employee which was telling me the cost wast 4k but Tommy jumped in and bumped it to 5k. His reason was that the tires need to be powder coated. They come powder coated from Vossen, but he wants to charge more so he makes more. He always says it'll take 12 weeks from manufacture but that's bs its 4 weeks. When you go here they give you Delinte tires which are horrible. Most tire shops don't even sell this product because the quality is so bad. Horrible road noise, tires wear out quick and have to be changed so the shop makes more money. They charged me 1200 for a set of Delinte tires. Tire pros wouldn't even sell it and said the average retail on the tires were 156$ per a tire. Tommy the owner knew that the tires would have horrible road noise and he didn't says anything until I complained, he sold me Michelin tires after and bumped me $1500. They also completely missed up my alignment which he never fixed. This is a safety issue and the Bureau of Automotive Repair will be getting a complaint from me. read more

Called them about 20 minutes prior to arriving in regards to my tire pressure light that has been on for a year now, I was told by the previous owner of my car that the sensor was broken so I finally got around to seeing what's up with that. When I got there, Rigo greeted me and remembered what I mentioned on the phone then told me I could just leave my key and he'd get it checked out. Turns out, my sensor was fine but my tired pressure was actually just low.... ha ha ha ha He let me know that air was put in all of my tires and as a result, my light had turned off.... duh lol So no more worries, and the cherry on top was that I didn't get charged at all. I recently purchased a CPO 2011 Mercedes Benz E-Class that came with 18" AMG wheels and felt this big sedan really needed bigger wheels -- 20" 'dubs' seemed like the right shoe size for it. I did a lot of research of different brands and models and narrowed it down to two separate models from a wheel company called Vossen that seems to get a lot of good reviews on car forums. Anyhow, being an avid Internet shopper, I emailed several wheel stores (some in California, some in other states) that advertised on the mbworld forums for a price quote for the Vossen wheels. The best quote I got was from a wheel store in Southern California (which was priced several $hundreds less than the next competitor). Since these are wheels for my car and not some gadget purchase, I felt it would be better if I bought them from a local retailer who would get them mounted, balanced, and installed. I decided to give California Wheels a call since they were listed as the closest authorized retailer of Vossen Wheels. I called and spoke to Rigo (and dealt with Rigo for my entire transaction after this initial call). I told Rigo about the price quote I got for the wheels and although he was not able to exactly match the price, he was able to come pretty close. It turns out that SoCal wheel place was not an authorized Vossen reselller. The next day, I drove over to talk to Rigo in person and he was very helpful. After I decided on the wheels, Rigo gave me several options for tires. Since my wheels is a staggered setup, the choices for tires are slightly more limiting in the 20" size. After telling me about several different brands and giving me breakdowns in pricing for each, I picked ones that were the best bang for the buck and was a well-known Japanese brand. Later that evening, I looked up the price of the tires on tirerack.com and the prices Rigo quoted me were about the same price as tirerack! After bundling up the wheels and tires as a package, including mounting, balancing, installation, alignment, the deal actually came out to the same price I would have paid for the same package with tires from that online store from SoCal without installation or alignment! Furthermore, going through California Wheels, they actually unmounted my MB OEM tires so they can transfer the tire pressure sensors to the new wheels and tires! Wow, I didn't even think of that when I was thinking of getting wheels and tires online! And as an added bonus, I was going to buy some wheel locks and possibly get some chrome lug nuts (the lug nuts that came with the MB were a painted silver finish). Guess what? California Wheels included chrome lug nuts AND wheel locks in at no additional charge! How's that for excellent customer service!!!?? No more buying wheels and tires online for me. This review is based on the Campbell store... I called around to many different stores looking for spacers for my new wheels I ordered online. Needed 3mm spacers to clear the calipers on my Scion Xb and let me tell you everywhere I called they didn't either know what function the spacer performs or they were rude and didn't care to help me. I called Discount Tire, Big O Tires, Pep Boys, and Wheel Works, none of them helped me as much as California Wheels did! California Wheels' customer service over the phone was spot on, so that's what got me in there. I knew I was talking to the right people when they stocked a variety of mods and could talk me through all the questions I had for them from stupid to complicated. I took off and drove up to their Campbell store and saw the hottest line up of cars and trucks waiting in the parking lot. Damn they get some crazy nice cars in the parking lot waiting to be worked on. The inside of the store is every man's fantasy, lots of chrome, black and fat lipped rims hanging everywhere. Stacks of good magazines (no people or dumb ass readers digest) to read when your waiting or you can go directly across the street to Dairy Queen and snack it up while you wait. Went inside and talked with Tommy and he asked me what I wanted to do and then walked with me out to my car and looked everything over and gave me a great deal on the spacers, installing the new wheels (not even bought from them), and disposing my old nasty tires on my steelies. I've got to say I had a pretty crappy car compared to what was there and wasn't really giving them a lot of business from my nickel and dime work I needed but Tommy and the guys treated me like I was a vip! I needed an alignment also so I said what the heck and asked Tommy how much... he told me a price then paused, then knocked off like 20 bucks! He beat everyone else price without me even haggling! As my car was on the lift I kept sneakin' some peeks and noticed the young guy working on my car was actually detailing the rims and tire, keep in mind I didn't purchase their wheels or tires from their store. This kind of service never happens anymore in the auto industry, trust me. If your car/truck needs any kind of wheels, suspension, lowering and raising or custom setup I would only bring it to California Wheels to get it done right! They know modded cars inside and out, no one else around the bay area can touch their knowledge and expertise on that... and I've talked to a lot of shops. And WOW, they got some smokin nice rims in the showroom!!! Anything from 16" to 26", colors, crazy offsets and fat lip sizes, I sat there just drooling and visualizing which wheel I would be purchasing next. The last thing I wanted to point out that really told me that California Wheels was the shizznit.... they have auto magazines in the bathroom! Yes, magazines in a crazy clean restroom... sit back and relax! Talk to Tommy about any kind of custom set up you want and he'll be sure to blow you away with his knowledge and make you a good deal. I initially wanted some MRR wheels but Macario informed me that the wheels would not fit right with my car (14 is350 f sport), as he called the manufacturer to confirm. I've called other places about those rims and not one informed me that they wouldn't fit, so I appreciated his explanation as to why and took his advice. The stance wheels were on back order but when they came in, it was so worth it. I love the rims and the way it goes with my car. On top of that I had my calipers painted red. California Wheels did a phenomenal job on my 2016 Audi Q3! A few months ago I was in the market for some wheels. After doing research on options I decided on the Vossen brand. I gave Vossen a call to find an authorized dealer and they referred me to California Wheels. Since they had good reviews I decided to give them a shot. Prior to going to the shop I did my homework on what type of wheel, size, and fitment I wanted. I visited CW and talked with Macario about my car and what I was looking for. I settled on a set of 20" Vossen CVTs and couldn't be happier with them. Macario did an awesome job putting together a great fitment for my car. He suggested going with (20 x10.5 +42) since I really wanted the deep concave look. I was nervous about going with such a wide wheel but the installation came out NICE! Cali Wheels really knows their stuff! There was a small non-issue after the install. The car was vibrating when reaching speeds of 75 - 80mph. After a quick phone call, they had a good idea what was going on and how to deal with it. I brought the car in and they installed custom spacers... problem solved! My experience with CW was going well so I decided to have them install my KW adjustable coilovers. The end result was perfect!!!
