They pace the class really well and decorate the curriculum with interesting asides about Japanese slang, history, or cultural context. They localize the lessons to our experiences and push us to speak as much as possible. I've particularly enjoyed the in-person learning experience. Struggling together with classmates and sharing tips has been very gratifying. Fuji School also hosts cultural events as a way to connect with the community and students from other classes. 10/10 highly recommend. Duolingo just wasn't cutting it for fulfilling my weeb dreams. I later learned that F-1 students are generally required to attend classes in person (minimum hours on campus) to maintain legal status. I clearly explained that I am located in a different state, yet I was still enrolled in a school far away while being repeatedly told the classes would be online. There was no transparency about who was providing the service, no clear credentials, and no proper explanation of the process. After realizing the inconsistencies and requesting clarification and a refund, I was not helped. Because of this experience, I will be filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau and reporting both this company and Study1Visa so others are aware. Please do your research carefully before sending money to anyone offering immigration or visa services. I demand my money is returned immediately!

In fact, about 18 months after beginning, I was able to teach a music clinic in Italy to Italians, mainly in Italian. I have no aptitude for language, and I owe this completely to the school. All I did was simply follow the homework assignments, and practiced a few minutes a day every day. Currently Sylvia is my teacher I had and she is great! The front office is also excellent. They are very accommodating, kind and thoughtful. When I was injured they called me specifically to see how I was doing. The owner is a very nice woman also. They all add a nice personal touch. Classes are affordable and you can take makeups for classes you miss, so the value is excellent. It has been a dream of mine to learn Italian. I highly recommend this school if you live in Los Angeles!

Some are quite mean and some are sort of like grifters, they just want you to come back to class and move at a snail's pace so you'll be there forever. The staff is completely inflexible. If you want to postpone for the next term or change anything, they just keep putting you into classes that are the wrong level or schedule. I understand this is for when people change their minds about going to class. But seriously they are ONE THOUSAND PERCENT INFLEXIBLE once they have your money. You could be going to accept a Nobel Prize and they will say "What if we put you in Slovakian on Tuesdays?" They don't have that many classes anymore. It either works for you or it doesn't. It just depends. Good luck!

I started with French 2 (took some in college) in March of 2018 and am now in French 5 (Feb 2019 - took a short break over the summer). My French has improved drastically in less than a year, all thanks to the fun, once-a-week class after work. Julie was my teacher for French 2 and Giulia was my teacher from French 3 to 5. Both are amazing and excellent. Coucou is also great in that it has events for the community (happy hours, parties)! I hope they expand to other areas of LA beyond DTLA, so if you're in another area but interested, let them know!!

I must mention that teacher Daniel is exceptionally kind and makes classes incredibly interesting. I am amazed that how he is patient with all types of students. His preparation for the classes is outstanding, professional and he never bores us. Additionally, Toni makes her classes really compelling that you will grasp everything she teaches. She will be your friend only in few seconds. I love that both of them have best sense of humor. Also, if you ask me, they have broad knowledge about everything that makes classes engaging and insightful. They have quickly become my most favorite teachers. Their engaging teaching styles have made my time here even more enjoyable. Also, I made many great friends here. Although I didn't have the opportunity to study in teacher Sheena's class, she is incredibly kind, gives good advice, and is so fun to talk to. Also, I'm really grateful for Dr.Park and Mrs.Park. He speaks fondly of former students that took his courses and excelled, and encourages me frequently by pointing out my strengths. That feels great. My girlfriend moved from Moscow to LA in the late 90's, naturally her family speaks only Russian at home. When I go visit them I want to understand more of what is being said and eventually be able to interact with her family in Russian. Language Factory takes a practical, conversational approach to its teaching. For example for the last 10-15 minutes of class we practice short conversations. Despite my limited vocabulary George is patient, he wants to see his students do well and I couldn't be happier I picked The Language Factory over its competitors.

But I felt so intimated by my new machine. I ticked it away for years but I saw an email for a Moving Thread beginner 4-week workshop. 3 hours each session. Last night was class 1 of 4. My class was six ladies aged from mid 20s to late 60s. One never sewed. Two hand sewed. And two of us used machines 20 and 30 years ago and one lady had a machine and used it but felt intimidated. So we were all pretty nervous about our fledgling sewing skills. But the class was paced perfectly and by the end of our first class we successfully completed beautiful reversible totes! The workshop is $550 and it's a great value: project 1 tote, project 2 zipper pouch, project 3 pants (two classes). Our instructor was warm, friendly, funny, knowledgeable, helpful. My only drawback are the chairs. They're not comfortable for me and my leg felt like it wanted to go numb. No one else seemed uncomfortable so maybe it's just me. I'll try a seat cushion to see if it'll help. I brought my machine with me so I could learn how to use it but my husband actually bought the same Heavy Duty Singer sewing machine provided in the class for student use. All the equipment, accessories, fabric needed is provided by the class. You only need to show up. No good or drink allowed in classroom but water is okay. Be sure to enter the rear entrance let the instructions in your student information email. Because to show up on time. Basically no make classes. So if you sign up be sure you're schedule is free for the specified time period. If you're thinking of taking a quick afternoon class or a full workshop I highly recommend you give Moving Thread a try. The instructor we had last night has her own fashion label and is highly knowledgeable but gave us very easy instructions that us newbies could follow. The was patient with our foibles and created an atmosphere of grace and fun. I look forward to my to rest of classes Eventually I look forward to trying the advanced class offerings too.
