I also learned that Stockton has a whole world that I never knew existed. For instance.... --Being a bike lover, the Amgen Tour goes right through Stockton (Woot-woot) --There are a ton of events happening every month. In fact, the "Beerfest" is just around the corner on August 10, 2019. --Stockton have an amazing Museum as well as a kids museum. --There is the Bob Hope Theater (I still have yet to see so it's on my calendar) --Port of Stockton is nice with some very cool sailboats. The Stockton Arena is also a must see. --The Banner Island Ballpark I think is pretty cool. --The University of the Pacific which I've ridden my bike there and it's like cycling through an Ivy League college. This is also a cool place to walk your dogs especially during the weekend because of tons of plush, green grass. --Stockton also has tons of great parks and I've cycled through Oakgrove which was very nice (minus geese poop) LOL --Stockton also has a few local wineries as well as its neighboring City of Lodi. --My favorite probably Lincoln Center as I like to eat and buy food. There is even a nice outdoor plush seating area with umbrella shade. Very trendy. Did you know Stockton has "Nothin Bundt" too and Peet's coffee is right across the street? Empresso Coffee however, have been my goto hangout because they have the best cold brew coffee. It's legit! Trust me, I'm a coffee connoisseur. Best of all - Stockton actually, yes actually, has a ton of great restaurants with all flavors. My favorite I discovered is Moma's Pho right off Lower Sacramento and off Thorton/Pacific Ave. Great hole-in-the-wall Vietnamese restaurant. Order their Spicy soup. It's delicious! Oh before I forget.... I attended their annual "StockMarket" event and had a blast. I met emerging local artists, bought some one of a kind arts, and I got a chance to listen to some cool music from local bands. In fact, I even rode my bike there many thanks to the San Joaquin Bike Coalition volunteers, who provided the "Family Fun Ride Day." We had more than 40 riders that day. Lastly, I bought a cool "VisitStockton" T-shirt and I was told that United Airlines will be flying into Stockton Airport soon. United would provide flights from Stockton direct to LAX and Phoenix. Currently, Allegiant Airlines is the only commercial carrier flying out of Stockton to Las Vegas or San Diego. There are however, private jets and smaller planes you can RSVP. So the next time you drive through Stockton, checkout "VisitStockton.org" first and discover the many cool places to go. Oh did I mention that Stockton has a Mercedes Benz dealer? An older white male employee immediately turned around and began watching the security cameras. We were the only customers in the store, yet he did not ask if we need any help or assistance. As a black customer, the situation felt unsettling. We came in with no bags and were simply browsing, but the atmosphere made us feel unwelcome and watched. When we decided to leave, the employee still did not acknowledge us or say anything. The entire interaction felt odd and uninviting, and we left feeling as though we were not wanted there because of our race. I hope management addresses customer service and ensures that all guests are treated with respect and courtesy.

Those days of free admission are long gone, costs have increased, and there is now a Jelly Belly Museum to enjoy. While one visit was more than enough to satisfy my own curiosities, I have since had my own little monster whom at one point was overly in love with these tiny fruity beans. What better way to walk down memory lane than seeing it through the eyes of my very own 6yo?? TOUR ADMISSION PRICES: Adults (Ages 18+): $8 Children (Ages 3-17): $4 Children (Ages 2 and under): Free The tour is self guided, allowing you to go at your own pace in learning about the process of making the jelly beans. FUN FACT: DID YOU KNOW IT TAKES 7-14 DAYS TO MAKE A JELLY BELLY JELLY BEANS?? Now, before you get started, there are a few rules that visitors must abide by. 1) Keep your jelly belly hat on at ALL TIMES. I kid you not, the staff will stop and remind you to put it on. 2) Avoid eating and drinking during the tour. 3) Avoid any flash photography. I'm sure this specific rule applies more to the candy actually being in production. My visits have only occurred on the weekends and Jelly Belly only actively produces during the weekday during early hours. Yep, I've never had the pleasure of seeing anything made firsthand but I guess Food Network's UNWRAPPED will have to do... 5/5 Stars because my toddler had the most amazing time. Since I've now been there numerous…read moretimes, I skip the tour and cafe, but I always always go to the store, especially the room of discounted items, like new flavors they're trying out that aren't in the branding bags yet or seasonal products. It's sooo worth it to get a bag of my favorite jelly beans for $2.00 or sometimes a specialty item for even $0.50! So fun. I've discovered some new favorites this way. FYI: They are currently remodeling the discount room, which is located on the side where the cafe is, but it is temporarily behind the stairs on the side of the store. Look out for it because it is worth it! There are also little "train rides" in the parking lot, but the schedule is sporadic. The jelly bean art work is still really cool to look at each time I'm there. They sometimes rotate what they display, which is cool. Currently they have Harry Potter jelly beans artwork displayed in the entryway. They've also gotten rid of the free taste tests, which used to be right when you enter. Bummer. That was really fun to taste the bamboozle flavors, like stinky feet or vomit. Haha
