Quaint and sophisticated!
First of all, this was so random…read more It was a Sunday evening, damp and cool outside. My lifestyle is that I wouldn't be inclined to go out, even having a car, no matter how hungry I may be. But, this time we had no choice. We were hungry enough to go out. The hotel receptionist recommended Il Locale. Dang! How do I have to walk? Anyhoo, we walk. As we'd come to learn that hills in Rome are numerous and the norm. So, we get to the restaurant breathing a bit vigorously. Just stepping in the door relaxes you. Well, the shelves of wine helped. But the decor is so quaint and a classic Italian charm. The lighting is soft but brighter in some parts of the dining areas. Our waitress was fluent in her English and treated us very well. The abundance of meats that is outside of our dietary standards were pleasantly abated that night. I ordered stuffef grouper with some wine my daughter ordered. She got a really pretty salad. I loved the tiramisu once I got the 2nd one because my daughter ate my first one. I know that it may seem odd to factor a restaurant in travel plans but I want to try other dishes from the menu. It was a lovely place that I plan to revisit after another vigorous walk. Ciao!
