I live in yakima washington where we had over 3 ft of snow in febuary this year, i have a valley where my roof meets, and a flat patio roof that ajoins to it. The flat part actually sloops back there is a breathing pipe that sticks out of the roof in that valley. There is a hole around where that pipe come out from the roof. First the inspector is very hard to get ahold of to set up a time for him to come out and look at it. And after i do set up a date he calls that morning and canceled. Then tells me hell have to get ahold of me to reschedule, again hard to get a time set up. Finally get a time set he doesn't bring a latter then tells american family insurance there is no way that whole was caused by the snow. Me and my contractor was on the roof 2 yrs ago doing maintenance on the other side and he checked the roof for wear and tear and we did not see that whole then. My wife and I did not notice leaking from under that portion of the roof until febuary 2019 after we had that huge snowfall. American family insurance is denying out claim saying that they have never seen ice or snow cause that kind of damage. So it must of not happend from the ice and snow because they have not seen that kind of damage before. Im sorry but if your roof doesnt leak and you have a huge snow and freezing weather and all the sudden your roof leaks wouldnt you think it was from that. I mean lt leaks bad ice cicles form 5 ft in from the edge if the roof to our slidding glass doors we have to put bucketts under the roof to catch the rain now. And AMFAM is dening my claim. So i have to pay almost 10k to get it fixed. Im sorry but what is home owners insurance for?
